Food was fine. Good value for the area.
Very Westernized take on Japanese sandos/ramen.
Service could have been better. 2/6 orders kept being forgotten about the entire meal, with ZERO apology or measure to make up for the length of the wait.
Udon not really Japanese udon, not chewy at all & almost feels like Shanghai noodles instead. Had high expectations for the carbonara udon but was disappointed. I wouldn't say it's an authentic Japanese restaurant. Service was a bit slow too. Won't come again.

Went for brunch with friends & it was a terrible experience. The place was almost empty, yet service was extremely slow. Coffee took forever & arrived cold, served one by one for no reason. Food was even worse, I ordered a Japanese omelet over French toast, & it was completely overwhelmed with mayo to the point of being inedible. On top of that, the bathroom was dirty & had no tissues. Would not recommend.
Nice place for a more chic night out with friends or date, sort on the mid tier pricing when it comes to Japanese food, but the food can be a little hit or miss.
Have had the tsukement & Khao Soi dipping ramen before & it was delicious, definately some of my favorite from them, their duck is always really good as well.
Sushi fish is fresh, rice is done ok.
Was a little dissapointed this time with the katsu steak, the'self grill' new to the winter menu, it's quite minable. There's not much meat & the coating is rather flavorless & falls apart, it was also quite oily & moist so there was no texture to it. The sauces are ok, the miso butter is delicious, otherwise the'soy wasabi' doesn't really taste of much besides light soy sauce, the rest is just wakfu mayo.
Unbelievable brunch! Best I've had in my many visits to Montreal. Mind you, I'm biased for Japanese cuisine. The cheesy udon was a surprise that I believe my picky aunts from Japan would have even liked. (If they could get over the amount of butter & cream.) Also, the steak katsu was tender, juicy & melt in your mouth! Don't miss the Sayonara Summer if you are into non-alcoholic like myself. I considered it my dessert. Price was well worth the food & art on the walls is so lovely. The koi & lotus flowers are all hand painted!
This is absolutely a jewel of a restaurant! It's the second time I've been there, & the food is incredibly delicious. The Khao Soi is a must if you like Thai food! The Katsu is also delicious (they serve it just like you would get in Japan-on a hot plate).
The grand finale-their fluffy Japanese pancakes! Also are a must😁! We tried three flavors: matcha, vanilla, & maple syrup. Although they were all delicious, vanilla was our favorite. The presentation of the food & the atmosphere of the restaurant are definitely worth the experience. Although slightly on the expensive side, every bite is worth it!

Shushuto bar à ramen + tapas is a restaurant that offers the best vegan & fusion food ❤?❤? The staff is super welcoming, gracious, give the best food recommendations, & are always on their feet 🙏🙏 The overall vibe & decor of the restaurant is very nice & cozy 😇😇 We started with the Bao Bin - soft shell crab & it was so delicious 🎉🎉 For the main meal I had the crispy vegan Soleil à Kyoto while my partner had Creamy cheese udon with katsu chicken & each bite was a gourmet's delight ❤?❤? Our full compliments to the chef for making such exquisite food with so much flavour 🙏🙏 For dessert we had the crème brûlée & the Japanese pancake with green matcha & they were incredibly tasty as well 😇😇 Cannot recommend this 11/10 restaurant enough to anyone who wants to try Asian fusion food with the best service 🎉🎉
Had the duck breast tsukemen, Japanese beef katsu. Overall seems pretty standard for a ramenya or katsu place, the gyukatsu had trouble staying together with the panko flaking off, but the dipping sauces were at least matching with the food, but nothing spectacular.
The duck breast tsukemen was also not too out of the ordinary, the duck breast was cooked very well, however the rest of the tsukemen was average at best. The noodles were on the overcooked side & the dipping broth was marginally saltier than what you'd expect from a normal ramen broth, making it hardly giving more flavor to the ramen or duck breast.
Overall while there wasn't anything really done wrong with the food, nothing really stood out either, for the price it's a little too pricey for the food, but overall okay.
location = spacious & good ambiance
service = our waiter friendly & quick
drinks = my amaretto sour can be better, sour but not sweet enough
food = everything we ordered. delicious
what we ordered:
-Crudo; plate of raw salmon, avocado, ikura caviar with yuzu dressing
-mazemen, ramen without broth, protein we chose; pork Chashu
-japanese creamy carbonara udon noodles with shrimp tempura
-mangoe salad with grilled chicken (yummmyyy!)
-Oh La La rice paper sushi rolls
salmon with shrimp tempura i believe.. definitely recommend!
We had the Japanese-Style Grilled Duck Breast Yaki Udon, & it was absolutely delicious, rich, savory, & perfectly balanced. The duck was tender & flavorful, & the whole dish came together beautifully.
The Sakura cocktails were a lovely pairing refreshing, floral, & visually stunning.
The ambiance was cozy yet modern, with a relaxed atmosphere that made the experience feel special. The service was warm, attentive, & made us feel very welcomed.
Highly recommend this spot for a nice night out or a cozy ramen date.

My husband & I celebrated our 39th Anniversary at Shushuto Bar & Ramen Plus Tapas.
Our Server Ben was exceptionally accommodating. The Food is Delicious & generous portion. We ordered the salad mango with grilled chicken,Japanese Steak Katsu for Appetizers ,followed with Sashimi Platter Salmon & avocado,& Japanese pancake Rose-Berries dessert & Affogato Baileys & cappuccino to end our dining experience.
It's the Best Japanese Restaurant we ever trie
& Oh. Ben gifted us a slice of cheesecake
Thanks Ben !!
I tried this restaurant's food at the Yatai Montreal Japanese food festival & was really disappointed. After ordering just one order of beef skewers & one order of shrimp skewers (which cost a steep $33 total), I had to wait over 20 minutes to receive them. When the food finally arrived, the beef was so tough & chewy it was literally inedible-I had to spit it out. The shrimp was fine, but nothing special, especially for the price. After this experience, I have no interest in trying their actual restaurant. Definitely not worth the wait or the money.
Truly authentic Japanese ramen🍜 The broth is so exquisitely done! Delightful flavours all around. Impeccable service! Great vibe!
The bartender is so talented & skillful. Wide selections of nice cocktails & creative drinks🍸Highly recommend this fun & yummy place to all the food enthusiasts!
We celebrated a birthday dinner as a group of 8 & had an amazing time thanks to friendly & attentive service, delicious Japanese-inspired fusion dishes, & fun cocktails! The team made sure all our orders & bills arrived promptly so we could make it to our ticketed event on time. Thanks guys! We'll be back! 🇯🇵

excellent food, great variety & innovative fusion japanese dishes. great cocktails & choice of Sake. A tad noisy, definitely for a'young crowd' & less for a family dinner. We went for my son's birthday (30) 6 people including a 5 year old child, but overall great restaurant. Easy to find Parking in adjacent streets. Walking distance from Atwater Market.
This is such an elevate japanese restaurant! All the menu looks delicious. I want to try them all! I'm a big fan of all of it, the atmosphere, food, drink, decor!
We decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary here & it was a good decision. We loved the ambiance, service, & food. Everything was too good. We would recommend the salmon tartare, which is a must try. That was our favorite. Loved the udon carbonara with shrimp. It was heavy but very different with an amalgamation of japanese & italian flavors. The Sushi Roll Ooh la la was very different with a rice paper instead of Nori. Flavors were on point. We went for the oyester mushroom bao vegan option, which we felt lacked a bit of punch. The mushroom didn't feel like the star. Chicken Mezeman felt the suace was a little too sweet for our palette, but the charred flavor on chicken was mind-blowing. Our cocktail mai tai was pretty strong &, on point, loved it. Overall, it was amazing. We will definitely be back again.
