Review Summary

Reviews describe Foxy as a standout Montreal dining spot where everything cooked over a wood fire shines through in every dish, from mussels and flatbread to maitake, cavatelli and bluefin tuna tartare; the menu changes with the seasons and favors shareable plates that highlight local ingredients and bold textures. The atmosphere blends sleek warmth with an open kitchen vibe, and guests often note the appealing terrace as well as the thrill of watching the chefs at work; many describe the service as impeccable, attentive, and knowledgeable with strong wine and cocktail guidance, though a few mention occasional long waits or feeling pressured to choose desserts. While some diners say portions can run small for the price and a few dishes feel repetitive or pricey, the overall sentiment leans toward high praise for flavor, balance, and originality, with particular love for maitake, feta pita, flatbread, carpaccio, and seafood dishes. Generous gluten free options and vegetarian choices are noted, making Foxy feel like a modern, intimate destination famed for its wood fired style and creative presentation.

I don't think I can say enough good things about this place.

I have eaten at Michelin star restaurants all around the world. A lot of them are generally tasting menus. Which I do believe foxy may offer. However, we chose the Comptoir chef seating. Which means we got to sit at the counter & watch the chefs in action it was such an amazing experience.

When you first walked into the restaurant, you can smell the wood because they cook everything over wood & it is such an amazing smell. It sets you up for a great experience right from the beginning.

We sat at the counter as I mentioned. At first, I was thinking while this counter is awfully tiny. How is this going to work. But I do find that the servers staggered the food & placed everything precariously in a way that made it all work. So yes, it's a small space but it worked just fine.

We ordered a bunch of items to share between the group. We started with the Scallop Crudo & the feta & pita. I personally loved the scallops more than the pita, but my coworkers loved the pita better. Then we moved on to The Little gem salad & the Capelletti pasta. Both were fantastic. Last we had maitake mushrooms & cod. The mushrooms were a meter event for me! I've obsessed with mushrooms, & this was absolutely incredible.

The server came by & asked if we wanted dessert. We decided to have oysters & carrots as our dessert. Lol we saw the chefs making them & they just looked so incredible that we couldn't resist.

This is going to sound really strange, but those carrots were really one of the highlights for me. I can't explain it. They were just so incredibly flavorful & it was something I will think about for a long time.

The only negative for me is that I didn't really love the wine selection that the server suggested. However, wine is such a personal preference that it's not really his fault. It just it wasn't for me.

Major shout out to Jenna. She was manning the oven closest to us. & she was doing everything with a smile. She was explaining the process to us. She was doing such an incredible job. She made the experience even more fun.

I will 100% come back here when I am back in Montreal.

Our dinner turned out to be the best meal we had during our most recent visits to Montreal, even outshining our experience at Joe Beef.

The only hiccup was that we reserved for the'chef's counter' section, but when we arrived, we were encouraged to pick another section of the restaurant as the seats were literally right across from the oven, giving you an instant sweat!

The dishes were all well executed. Our favorites were the crudo, mushrooms, & asparagus.

We had a great dinner! Love the wood fire smoke. Not smoky or hot in the restaurant, which I was worried about.

The food was extremely good & the service was excellent. The chefs were dedicated & took great care in the work. Beautiful food.

The pita & feta was fantastic & worth the price.

The halibut was perfectly cooked & fresh as heck.

The cavatelli mushroom pasta was phenomenal. They really built up the mushroom flavor through stock & such.

The half lobster with red pepper was very good, but was served a bit cold.

The cocktails & dessert were good, but not on the same level as the food.

Lede to this review: our waiter was dreadful.
He abandoned us for half an hour at a time. He spent 5 full minutes consulting with a couple 3 tables down over their wine selection. The table to our left spent 35 awaiting their check after requesting it.
All told it was 30 minutes from being seated until our drinks arrived.
After that we were treated to additional attention from the hostess who was able to fill in gaps for her flailing colleague.
Service aside. The food was delicious!
We enjoyed an appetizer of the oysters, followed by the'radicchio' (a lovely salad complemented with purple & golden beets), the cavatappi (fantastic mushroomy, cheesy goodness), cauliflower (a bit austere, wouldn't order again), & the halibut (pictured; featuring a delectable dashi buttermilk sauce).

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Montreal, Foxy is an absolute must-visit. The ambiance is sleek & intimate, with a modern yet cozy feel, making it the perfect setting for a night out. The dim lighting & stylish decor create a relaxed, welcoming environment where you can truly enjoy the food & conversation.

I had the pleasure of trying several dishes, & each was an exceptional blend of flavors. The Maitake mushrooms with black garlic, garlic scape, & sunflower seeds were an absolute highlight - earthy, savory, & packed with umami in every bite. The Cauliflower with yogurt, tomato, & furikake provided a refreshing balance of creamy & tangy, while the Pavlova stole the show. The combination of yogurt, blood orange, endive, & lemon granita was the most incredible blend of citrus, sweet, & creamy I've ever had. It was a perfect way to end the meal, bright & refreshing with just the right touch of indulgence.

My friend opted for the Flatbread topped with tomato, eggplant, & buffalo stracciatella - a comforting yet elegant dish with a great balance of flavors. The Beef Carpaccio with fermented sunchoke, crème fraîche, & egg yolk was rich & tender, while the Mussels with celery, kombu, & focaccia were simply divine, delicate, & brimming with flavor.

The service was impeccable - our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable. Every dish was presented beautifully, & the staff's recommendations were spot on.

Overall, Foxy offers a delightful combination of exquisite dishes, impeccable service, & a chic atmosphere that makes it a standout in Montreal's vibrant culinary scene. Highly recommended!

Rich indulgent dishes accompanied by fabulous wine menu. oysters served with home made smoky sauces. The lobster melange gave the ubiquitous shell fish a whole new look & taste & the hung steak melted into the unusual porcini mushroom butter. Daphne the mixilogist is as entertaining to talk to as to watch conjuring up bespoke cocktails designed to personal spirit taste. Smoky influenced decor, suggesting urban woodland perfectly complemented the dishes. Not cheap but if we had wanted cheap we would have gone to St Hubert's!
