Olive et Gourmando's nocturnal sister: Foxy. Wood fired cooking paired with plenty of veggies. Charred flatbreads, grilled meat and fish. Rustic, seasonal, and honest. Cozy atmosphere and relaxed dress code. Welcoming young children for early service only.
Foxy draws praise across reviews for inventive, wood-fired cuisine and an open, intimate atmosphere, with the option to sit at the chef's counter to watch the action; dishes are described as flavorful and creative, with standouts like maitake mushrooms, bluefin tuna tartare, halibut, mussels and flatbread with feta, all showcasing seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and wood fire. The service is repeatedly noted as impeccable and friendly, though a few experiences mention occasional lapses or pressure during peak times. Pricing and portion sizes receive mixed feedback, some finding the value aligns with the high quality while others feel portions are small for the price. The ambiance, especially the terrace, is frequently praised, and cocktails receive strong reviews, making Foxy a standout Montreal dining destination despite seasonal or seating-based variability.
My wife & I flew in to & were in Montreal for one night before heading north for vacation. My wife, always spot on with her due diligence, made last minute reservations for bar seating. We could not have dined at a better restaurant…the drinks, the food, the atmosphere, the staff. All fantastic. We sat at the bar & Sabrina mixed some wicked good cocktails & her wine recommendations to pair with our meal were spot on. She was witty, conversing & engaging, as was a'friend of the bar' sitting adjacent to us. The owner was present & leading by example, working alongside her staff. We had a moment to chat with her & extend a thank you for the wonderful experience. Gracious & humble she was. Not a recommended dining experience; but a must do dining experience.

We were disappointed with our visit to Foxy. We found the dishes to be quite expensive considering the quality & complexity of what was served. The total bill came to nearly $200 for two people, & we didn't even order any drinks. On top of that, we were still hungry when we left. In our opinion, the price was not justified. We do not recommend this restaurant.
I feel this place is overrated. Menu is hard to understand, we had to look up most of the items online & asked the server several questions. Anyway, had the chips & dip only because I just wanted a drink after dinner. These are veggie chips, very thin.. & taste like leaves. I didn't enjoy them at all. My friend had the carpaccio & said it was good. I've been here before & struggled with the menu then too.. If you really want to try this place, I suggest you research the menu before coming & see pictures. I think it's one of those restaurants that people will either really like, or dislike.
Lede to this review: our waiter was dreadful.
He abandoned us for half an hour at a time. He spent 5 full minutes consulting with a couple 3 tables down over their wine selection. The table to our left spent 35 awaiting their check after requesting it.
All told it was 30 minutes from being seated until our drinks arrived.
After that we were treated to additional attention from the hostess who was able to fill in gaps for her flailing colleague.
Service aside. The food was delicious!
We enjoyed an appetizer of the oysters, followed by the'radicchio' (a lovely salad complemented with purple & golden beets), the cavatappi (fantastic mushroomy, cheesy goodness), cauliflower (a bit austere, wouldn't order again), & the halibut (pictured; featuring a delectable dashi buttermilk sauce).
First time & certainly not the last. Food was 10/10. Genevieve guided us & every recommended dish was better than the next. Honestly just delicious. As well all the wines she recommended & drinks were great .
Food & drinks were great. We sat at the bar & Sabrina was our bartender- she was incredible! She made some great recommendations & really made the whole experience excellent. Would definitely recommend

Délicieux! Super bon service. L'accompagnement du magret était une des meilleures assiettes que j'ai mangé. Les drinks un peu cher comparé à ailleurs pour des classiques, mais sinon côté nourriture le rapport qualité prix y ait (dispendieux mais on mange vraiment bien!)
Incredible dining experience. Delicious locally-driven food/drink, impeccable service, & cozy atmosphere. Cocktails & zero-proof options were extensive & top notch. Mentioned in Canada's 100 best this year, & well worth the recognition! They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions. We had a one-sided lactose intolerance, & I was impressed that the server immediately went through the menu & described in great detail what kind of dairy was in each dish & whether they could make accommodations. A nice touch & outstanding level of service & attention to detail that is very uncommon but hugely appreciated!
Went for a dinner, & had an amazing experience. The food & drinks were all great. Had a dairy allergy, & they were very accommodating & aware. Mark, our main server, provided a professional, personal experience that we really appreciated. Hoping to be back one day!
