About

Restaurant Foxy focuses on an open-flame cooking method that defines its entire culinary approach. Intense wood-fired heat transforms seasonal market produce into complex dishes while imparting a distinct, natural smokiness. The menu emphasizes raw ingredients sourced from local suppliers to ensure maximum freshness across every plate. Guests observe the preparation process as the live fire serves as the primary heat source for both proteins and vegetables. Every component of the meal benefits from controlled char and caramelization techniques developed through direct flame contact. This methodical integration of traditional grilling practices and modern market sensibilities produces a focused, ingredient-driven menu. The resulting dishes prioritize deep textures and earthy profiles that highlight the elemental nature of the cooking techniques used throughout the facility.

Review Summary

Foxy is widely celebrated for its exceptional wood-fired cuisine, creative menu, and inviting atmosphere, frequently described as a top-tier dining destination in Montreal. Guests often praise the knowledgeable staff and the unique experience of watching chefs work in the open kitchen, though some patrons find the portion sizes small relative to the price and occasionally mention that the space can be loud or warm. While opinions on wine pairings and consistency vary among visitors, the majority of reviews highlight a professional and welcoming team, with many recommending the restaurant for special occasions and emphasizing the high quality of locally sourced ingredients.

Definitely advise sitting at the chef's counter - so fun to see all the dishes go into the wood fire stove & all the artful presentations by the kitchen staff

Must order feta & pita & the Giuseppe's Garden cocktail. Shishito peppers were also great

Stunningly delicious family style food. The whole table loved every bite from the range of dishes ordered. Greatest hits of the night were the duck, the bluefin tuna tartare & the olive oil cake for dessert.
Service & restaurant vibe was great & we will come back to Montreal just to eat here again.

We were disappointed with our visit to Foxy. We found the dishes to be quite expensive considering the quality & complexity of what was served. The total bill came to nearly $200 for two people, & we didn't even order any drinks. On top of that, we were still hungry when we left. In our opinion, the price was not justified. We do not recommend this restaurant.

Our dinner turned out to be the best meal we had during our most recent visits to Montreal, even outshining our experience at Joe Beef.

The only hiccup was that we reserved for the'chef's counter' section, but when we arrived, we were encouraged to pick another section of the restaurant as the seats were literally right across from the oven, giving you an instant sweat!

The dishes were all well executed. Our favorites were the crudo, mushrooms, & asparagus.

I've been to Foxy three times. The first two times were really good. The food was impressive, flavourful, & nicely presented. I remember sharing a platter with different meats & potatoes. It had a kind of tapas or shared starter feel to it & it worked really well.

On my second visit, I had the same platter & again the experience was solid. But by the third time, the menu had changed. I ordered the burrata & a few other small plates. This time the execution just wasn't there. The dishes felt a bit flat & underwhelming compared to my earlier visits.

The terrace is definitely the best part of the space. It's quiet, has a great ambiance, & feels much more relaxed. I like the drapes & the layout, it gives it a really nice atmosphere. Inside is a different story. It tends to get loud & there's unfortunately a bit of a lingering smell that makes it less pleasant.

Would I recommend it? It really depends. If the terrace is open, it can be a lovely place to eat. But the menu isn't as strong as it used to be & the experience depends a lot on timing & season. Based on my last visit, I'd give it a three out of five.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Montreal, Foxy is an absolute must-visit. The ambiance is sleek & intimate, with a modern yet cozy feel, making it the perfect setting for a night out. The dim lighting & stylish decor create a relaxed, welcoming environment where you can truly enjoy the food & conversation.

I had the pleasure of trying several dishes, & each was an exceptional blend of flavors. The Maitake mushrooms with black garlic, garlic scape, & sunflower seeds were an absolute highlight - earthy, savory, & packed with umami in every bite. The Cauliflower with yogurt, tomato, & furikake provided a refreshing balance of creamy & tangy, while the Pavlova stole the show. The combination of yogurt, blood orange, endive, & lemon granita was the most incredible blend of citrus, sweet, & creamy I've ever had. It was a perfect way to end the meal, bright & refreshing with just the right touch of indulgence.

My friend opted for the Flatbread topped with tomato, eggplant, & buffalo stracciatella - a comforting yet elegant dish with a great balance of flavors. The Beef Carpaccio with fermented sunchoke, crème fraîche, & egg yolk was rich & tender, while the Mussels with celery, kombu, & focaccia were simply divine, delicate, & brimming with flavor.

The service was impeccable - our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable. Every dish was presented beautifully, & the staff's recommendations were spot on.

Overall, Foxy offers a delightful combination of exquisite dishes, impeccable service, & a chic atmosphere that makes it a standout in Montreal's vibrant culinary scene. Highly recommended!

Warm atmosphere with dim lighting. The flatbread & maitake were exceptional. The carrot & cauliflower dishes were a bit firm, but overall all the dishes had good flavours. We would definitely eat here again!

Impeccable service, cool vibe, & a decent wine list. The food was overall okay but a bit pricey for its originality or portion, even considering that most of their dishes were tapas-style to share. For example, $24 for 6 oysters, which might be average in Griffintown but I saw many better price-quality. The duck was pretty good. The food menu is relatively small too.

Good spot for casual-chic dining. Service was great, & there's plenty of seating in this cozy restaurant. Their food menu varies & everything looked very fresh. We tried a few different dishes & they all tasted amazing.
