Enjoy an upscale dining experience in a historic building which used to be a stable. This classic steakhouse features your typical cuts of steak with optional seafood additions for surf & turf. Wine selection is good & the service was exceptional so expect to be pampered. Alejandro was very attentive & kind. The homemade bread & the kosher pickles were great. The steaks were pretty good & the house salad was delicious.
Staff: friendly & polite Food: really good, great for the price but both of our rib steaks were overcooked! If you're a steakhouse, you need to be able to serve a steak at the right temperature!! Service: extremely slow...i think it was more our waiter because he looked lost most of the time Very small list if you want to have a nice scotch with your steak...disappointing
Best steak I've had in a Steakhouse! Service is top notch. Beautiful decor as well. If you're into meat you'll be pleased. Oysters were delicious as well. Theres variety of good wines.
So happy to leave this review. My ex-boyfriend & I had a reservation at Gibby's & it was such an experience. We arrived, they were extremely busy & I think reservations weren't organized too well, but nonetheless, we were seated & greated by our server Christine. She was incredible, fast, busy, hustling but really incredible. Definitely ask for her service! The food was amazing. Very large portions. Pricey but worth it.. well done Gibby's. Will absolutely recommend it as the best steakhouse in Montreal.
Delicious, authentic, & atmospheric. Top 3 of my favorite steakhouses. Love this place.
Great non-Franchise Steakhouse. This is truly a first-class Steakhouse, without feeling stuffy. The Steaks are outstanding, & the service is warm & friendly
Gibbys proclaims "Experience the finest seafood, fresh plump chilled oysters, a large choice of the freshest fish & Gibbys' expertly aged delectable steaks, cooked to perfection." I have been to some of the finest steakhouses in North America (yes that is only my opinion) but they would include Bern's inTampa, Golden Steer in Las Vegas, Gibsons in Chicago, Charlie's in Orlando, Peter Luger in NYC, etc. Expectations were high. Ambiance did not disappoint. Selection was promising. Ordered the Gibby's cut. Looked perfect, but on 1st few bites it was obvious to me it was slightly overcooked. I would have managed, but before I could even draw attention to the waitress, the manager (his name is Adil) was at our table asking if everything was ok. I mentioned it was a bit more overcooked than I was used to & without hesitation or question he asked if he could replace it for me. I said it was fine. He insisted & said it was his responsibility to ensure they offered their best. Promptly replaced, it was perfect. No questions asked, no guilt involved, they made it right. To me, that separates the elite experiences from even the best. Attention to making the evening perfect is what Gibbys does exceptionally well. Enjoy the experience. Relish in the service. Highly recommended.
The best steakhouse in Montreal area. Great service, nice ambience & best steak. Going back for sure & highly recommended
Super service, ambiance incroyable Prix une peu prohibitif. Demandé ma pièce medium saignant & j ai reçu bleu ... Décevant pour ce qui est supposé être "un des meilleurs" steakhouse à Montreal
The whole experience of it was top. From start to finish Gibbys was truly amazing with their own rich history of the "The Gate" & their location, the entry warm welcoming & greeting , the elegant high-end classy atmosphere with some low volume Sade playing in the background , the top notch most professional server , the best cuts of steaks & all the care to each single little details made it a strong steakhouse pillar in Montreal.

Completing my touring of Montreal finest steakhouses. This time, dinner at Gibby's, an institution that I have not visited since 2009. In 2009, when I first visited Gibby's, I had not much experience with steakhouses & I was very impressed at that time. Years later, I have tried many steakhouses not only in Canada, but also in the US & in other countries where beef is as revered as in the US. The reason I am writing this is because I do not think that Gibby's is bad. They are doing things the same way they used to, but I believe that I am not impressed by it anymore only because my taste has evolved. So Yes, my rib eye was cooked to requested doneness, but no it's no more one that seduces me because nowadays my ideal rib eye steak is the like of a corn-finished 40 days dry aged Black Angus, A 40 days wet aged USDA prime, bone-in, etc.. which are clearly not what was offered on this dinner (this boneless rib eye steak was firmer, had less fat distribution, less expressive meat flavor ...but again, compared ..to what i idealize as great today ). So less impressed, indeed, but only because my taste has switched to something else, NOT because it is bad! & yes, if you start comparing to some other hot steakhouses, well no it is not playing in the same league as it is not its purpose neither. Still, it's a generous steakhouse: nice warm bread, palate cleanser, pickles of great quality, plenty of salad did accompany my rib eye. The only thing that i can't put on the back of the evolution of my palate is this : the wine service...leaving a glass of Pinot noir on my table without showing the bottle to me, without pre-tasting NO & NO! You serve me my glass of Pinot Noir while I haven't finished my other glass of sparkling wine, again..NO! & what about the year of that PN? Its description (region, etc) There's no excuse for that.
