What a fantastic dining experience! Selena took such great care me. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, & kind. Every single dish was amazing, & the prices were fantastic. I'll definitely be back soon!

An Exceptional Portuguese Dining Experience at Porto Mar
We had an absolutely incredible experience at Porto Mar in Old Montreal. This is truly a tremendous Portuguese restaurant, & it exceeded our expectations in every way.
A huge part of our wonderful experience was Alex, whose customer service was simply outstanding. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly friendly, warm, attentive, & welcoming. He went above & beyond to accommodate us & made sure we felt genuinely taken care of throughout our entire meal. His attention to detail & genuine hospitality were exceptional. Alex was truly out of this world!
The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic & traditional Portuguese flavours that transported us straight to Portugal. Chef Luis deserves tremendous recognition for bringing such wonderful, traditional Portuguese cuisine to the table. Every dish was beautifully prepared & full of flavour.
The food, beautiful ambiance, & exceptional service made this a truly memorable dining experience. Porto Mar is a gem in Old Montreal, & Alex & Chef Luis are a big part of what makes this restaurant so special.

O restaurante é bom, em frente ao Museu de arqueologia de Montreal. Cardápio bem português, mas tem outras opções. Eu nao dei sorte ao escolher sardinhas, havia muitas espinhas e muito óleo. Nao gostei do sabor também. Era minha primeira experiência e nao gostei. Preferiria filé de peixe. Digo, sem espinhas. Haha.
Porto Mar has apparently been around for over 20 years. That usually means the restaurant is good. Understatement!
First of all, nearly everything is either inherently gluten free or can be made gluten free. My wife & three kids, who are gluten free, loved the cod croquettes. We've never found those anywhere before.
I had the chef's escargot. What a huge & unique surprise. So far from the typical white wine & garlic. It's a deep red wine sauce with sautéed scallions. So complex. Rich & creamy mouthfeel with a bitter & sour note. Stellar.
I am also a big octopus fan. The grilled octopus might have been the best I have ever had. Juicy. Tender. Not over-sauced. & the perfect char.
My family had various fish dishes. Every plate was clean.
Our server, Alex, was exceptionally attentive. Making recommendations, explaining dishes, & attending to all of the gluten free needs.
Service was amazing! Alex, our server, was wonderful! Food was fantastic. We all enjoyed our meal. Chocolate mousse was exceptional. Everything was just great.
This was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time, without exaggeration! I
Our very picky daughters (9 & 12 years old) really enjoyed their meals as well. We have celiac disease & gluten intolerance in our family, & there were so many options we were pleasantly surprised. We're in Montreal for only 2.5 days, but there is a good chance we'll end up back here before we leave!
