We had a wonderful experience. The servers were very friendly & the food was delicious 😋. The kitchen is open so we were able to see the chef & sous chef cooking everything. The chef even came to our table to greet us & ask how we enjoyed our meals. The octopus was our favorite. Cooked perfectly & so tasty. The poncha on their signature cocktail menu was strong but very good. From what I understand it's a traditional recipe from the island of Madeira. Overall a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back. Thank you :)

Chef Louis's catch of the day & seafood risotto were incredibly delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, & beautifully prepared. My child enjoyed the meal so much & left completely satisfied!
Alex made the evening even more memorable. He was warm, cheerful, & full of great recommendations. His sense of humor & engaging personality made the whole dinner feel relaxed & joyful.

Went here last night in the Old Port & had such a great experience at Porto Mar. You need to check them out ASAP!
Our server Alex was super chill & attentive, & one of the owners, Melanie, came by & was incredibly kind. We even got the chance to speak with the chef, which made the whole experience feel really personal.
Food-wise, everything was fresh & full of flavor. The spicy shrimp were a standout so delicious, I'd go back just for those. I had the turbot (yes, it's a real fish 😂) & it was cooked perfectly. The potatoes on the side were also amazing.
We also had a seafood medley with rice (loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp, salmon, cod basically everything) & it was super saucy & satisfying.
Drinks were on point too loved my old fashioned.
To finish, we had a porto-braised pear with ice cream & it was honestly the perfect dessert.
Beautiful location, especially if you can grab a window seat. Definitely a spot we'll be going back to.
This was an amazing experience. Being the daughter of parents born in the Azores this was really authentic. Chef Luis visited our table & was an absolute pleasure. This is definitely a must.

Some of the best Portuguese food I ever had. The food & drinks are exceptional. It felt like I was eating at home. Our chef Luis went above & beyond. Selina was our server & she was incredible. If you ever come to Montreal & want good Portuguese food, Porto Mar should be on your list.

The food was good, but what really made the evening was everything else. The service was excellent: the owner & chef came by for a friendly chat, & our server, Jaiden, was kind & attentive without hovering. The atmosphere was relaxed & inviting, with tasteful Portuguese-inspired décor & music that set the tone without overwhelming conversation. We brought our son along & felt completely at ease; the place is family-friendly without being loud or chaotic. It's not overly fancy or pretentious, & the staff treat you like real people, not like you're at a formal banquet. If you're debating where to go for a relaxed family dinner, this spot is a solid choice.
Porto Mar is my home away from home. Not only is the service & ambiance TOP, the chef is a brilliant Saucier & cooks meat & fish to perfection. It's one of the cities' best kept secrets!
Beau restaurant. Serveuse impeccable : souriante, patiente, très plaisante. Le chef est sympathique aussi. Les prix sont raisonnables pour un restaurant au Vieux-Port de Montréal. Oubliez le stationnement, très difficile de trouver dans les rues. Le transport en commun est idéal. Wifi disponible. Mes Bémols : l'entrée de sardines n'est pas recommandée, goût amer, impossible de manger avec les arrêtes, elles sont dures. Les entrées de croquettes de saumons & chorizo grillé sont excellents. Je n'ai pas apprécié l'assiette de calmars & crevettes piri piri. La peau des calmars sont élastiques, difficile à mâcher. Si je retourne, c'est pour le service exceptionnel.

Delicious! We had some allergies & picky eaters in our group & they went above & beyond to take care of our concerns. The chef even came to check on us & our food. The food was amazing as was the brick walls.
Been here a few times & the service & atmosphere were great, staff is very friendly. Only thing was that the chef rarely wore a hat & he often seemed really out of it or disoriented even though it wasnt that busy.
