Porto Mar Restaurant serves authentic Portuguese cuisine in a warm, relaxed setting in old Montreal, with friendly and attentive staff and a welcoming vibe that makes guests feel at home. We had an amazing experience at Porto Mar. The the fish & rice dish felt like real home cooking & sardines were super flavorful (in the best, authentic way). We had a starter of chorizo was also a standout.
The table d'hôte is definitely worth it. For just a few dollars more you get a starter, a generous main meal, & dessert.
We tried the chocolate mousse & frozen lemon dessert (highly recommended). It was the perfect finish!
For a spot in Old Montreal, the prices are very fair, portions are big, & the atmosphere is relaxed-great for a date night or just a nice meal out.
The atmosphere is relaxed & inviting, making it a great spot for a date night, tourists exploring Old Montreal, or really anyone who loves Portuguese food, whether it's seafood or meat. The service was fantastic, & we even had the chance to meet the owners, who were some of the kindest & most welcoming people you could hope to meet.
A unique & perfect experience. Great food & one of the best priced meals we had in the area on our trip. Highly recommend which does not come easily from me.

We went for lunch & ordered special of the day & calamari. Both were very good & dessert at the end was so delicious too. Highly recommend. Service was very nice as well.
We had an excellent meal & the service was spectacular by Amber. She was very friendly & helpful. We both had the catch of the day & it was delicious. Would highly recommend & if I lived here, I would definitely go back often.

We celebrated my dad's birthday here last night & absolutely loved it! Delicious Portuguese food with very generous portions & excellent service. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Old Town Montreal!

Excellent seafood, cooked to our request. Perfect, quiet tasteful ambience. Excellent service. Highly recommend for a relaxing dining experience a little away from the tourist haunts.
You MUST visit this restaurant! We recently visited in mid May & had a lovely table by the front window. Absolutely delicious & authentic Portuguese food: all five of our entrees were excellent, including the soup & escargot, & my sister is still dreaming of the shrimp dish! Loved the décor, ambiance & beauty of this historic building. Antonio was extremely personable & our waiter was exceptional. Highly recommend this venue for the food, the staff & the restaurant itself, we will definitely be back when we return to Old Montreal!! Thank you both for a delicious meal & very memorable evening!
