We were warmly received & seated at our booth. Our waiter Sanjay was friendly, efficient & a pro. He didn't miss a beat & had all the answers to the many questions regarding the menu & was completely capable of handling the ever changing orders with no errors. Atmosphere was nice & the place was super busy. I ordered the Keg classic with a 12 ounce sirloin & a wedge salad that was $60. I found the prices, although not cheap, good value as compared to their competition. It's nice to see a'corporate chain' properly running a restaurant. Not like the Grandio Group & how they gutted Moishes & Gibby's & run the horrific Cage aux Sport 😩.Wedge salad was what you'd expect although the one caveat was the less than fresh tasting bacon bits. The steak was perfectly prepared & delicious. All in all a much better experience than my last visit at The Keg in Laval which was not impressive.View more
I had called at 15:14hrs to inquire if it would be possible to order a blue or rare piece of prime rib. I was assured, enthusiastically, that it would NOT be a problem. Unfortunately, the prime roast was only available starting at a medium; I was not a happy camper. I would have eaten somewhere else that had roast beef. However, the Keg is the Keg & my rib steak (Pittsburg style) was textbook...brought a tear to my eye! The salade, the side veggies, & twice baked potatoe were as perfect as could be. Added bonus was our Server, Sarah. Amazing customer service & articulate. Note: if you want a more intimate setting, perhaps the dining room would be more suitable. The bar area is a true round table pub/happy hour setting.View more
It's my first time eating a steak in a restaurant so my expectations were high, perhaps unrealistic. I ordered it medium. I was expecting more searing o.o I found it average. The sides (salad & potatoes) were good. It was for my birthday & they gave me a slice of cake, which is appreciated. Service & atmosphere were good no complaints. I'm not sure I would order a steak again !View more
Amazing Food! The lobby & bar side were quite noisy. The dining room was less noisy, but the lighting could have been more intimate. I Our reservation for 2 was a 20 minute wait, as they seated someone else at our table. No worries, they did provide free appetizers for the inconvenience. It was our anniversary & I suppose thinking on it now, they did have that info & still gave the table away. Again they were very polite & apologetic, but it will be a footnote of a 15th anniversary. The GRUYÈRE MUSHROOM DIP was truly amazing! So delicious. The KEG CAESAR & ICEBERG WEDGE salad with blue cheese dressing were very tasty. The main event... The Keg Classic 10oz FILET MIGNON & 12oz NEW YORK STRIPLOIN were mouth watering delicious. Just close your eyes & take in the melt in your mouth, delicately seasoned aged beef. MmmmMmmmmm. The service at our table was impeccable!! Maria is so wonderful. Maria is The perfect waitress, always smiling, warm & kind, bilingual :) ,she truly is a beautiful gem if you have the pleasure of meeting her. Thanks Maria!!View more
I do visit this location often. I love the wedge salad & the appetizers. It's a hit or miss when it comes to the cooking of the steak. On a table of 4-5, often, you'll have an either overcooked or undercooked steak. Regardless of that, they are always courteous, polite & quick to fix it & that's the reason I really like this place.View more
Disappointing evening at the Keg Pte Claire for my mother's birthday. Spent a few hundred bucks & left with mixed feelings. While the service & my steak was good, the rest was a bit disappointing. Ordered a caesar salad to start, it had barely any vinaigrette, nothing else but parmesan on it & most of the salad wasn't fresh. It's probably one of the worst caesar salad I've had, it's usually a pretty safe dish. My son had a plate of veggies with his kid meal. Th carrots were huge, he couldn't bite into it, I had to cut them again & the celeri was full of dirt from where it grew. Not impressed. I had the rib steak for the main which was really good but the side of veggies tasted nothing. All this to say that it wasn't a terrible experience but when paying a few hundred bucks for a meal you expect a certain quality in the food & it was simply not there. It was my first time at the Pte Claire location & not sure I will go back, had much better experience in Laval & Downtown Montreal. Not the type to complain at the restaurant or to leave reviews for a matter of fact but the fact that I woke up the next morning wondering if I should have brought the family elsewhere made me do it.View more
We had a great dinner there on a Friday night. We made reservations as it is always busy on the weekends. We chose from the "Keg Classics", on the menu (which comes with your choice of salad & accompaniment). You have a few choices for meat. We took the prime rib (10 oz), which was cooked to perfection (medium rare). With that I had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing (that was much larger than I thought it would be, from photos I'd seen in the Google reviews), that also had small pieces of tomatoes & bacon bits, & a small container of additional blue cheese dressing on the side), & also the garlic mashed potatoes. The prime rib also came with some mushrooms (that had been cooked in something very flavorable), & some "onion crisps(?)". The meal was preceded by a very large square of some type of bread, that was denser than regular bread, & very good (that came with some flavored butter) that was meant to be cut up & shared. We also ordered, as appetizers, the chicken wings, which were good, & also the mushrooms Neptune (mushroom caps filled, & topped, with a light, whipped, flavorful cream cheese/crab mixture), which was excellent, that came with a smaller personal-size version of the bread you get for the table & some butter. Everything was great. The service couldn't have been better. Our water was always topped-up, & our waitress always checked to see if we needed anything, which was amazing considering how full the place was.The only mistake we made was ordering appetizers as well as the meal. We couldn't finish all of our meal. But they will give you "take-home" boxes, that you fill yourself, if you ask. No complaints whatsoever. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.View more
Had a very pleasant dinner here on my own on the tail end of a long road trip for work. Very pleasant, friendly bilingual staff, comfortable ambiance. Delicious food. NY striploin, Caesar salad, twice baked potato, Keg Old Fashioned, decaf latte, & sticky toffee pudding. Exactly what I needed after a long week. Love the mints.View more
I recently visited The Keg after a two-year hiatus. While it used to be consistently good, this time I found the food rather lackluster. The appetizer salad was disappointingly small, & the steaks were just average, earning a 3.5 out of 5. Although The Keg is less expensive than other high-end steakhouses, this visit made it clear whyView more
everything was so tasty! wedge salad 10/10, top sirloin 10/10, billy miner pie 10/10!! a few misses with our waiter however...my mock caesar came without celery & when i inquired he asked'oh you wanted that?'. who doesnt!? the waiter beside us brought me the celery & i said NOW its a caesar & he said didnt you want the spicy bean? i said id LOVE one & he brought me a plate of 4!! THATS a waiter! i asked for extra dressing on side, salad came w ONLY dressing on side. still delish. i asked for chives & olive oil for baked potato & it came plain, had to ask & wait. no offer of coffee either. BUT the food quality was so great it overshadowed the misses. last word: dessert menu needs a light choice & to rename the mile high chocolate cake to thin slice of chocolate cake. skip it & go for billy miner!View more
Ordered 2 filet mignons last night with 2 salads & 2 breads, for takeout. I did not check the content of the bag, but unpacking at home, realized that BOTH salads & BOTH breads were missing for the order. A $20 value. & they almost force you to leave tips on order pickup, with advertised percentages of 18, 20 & 25%!!! Filed a complaint immediately last night, but did not hear of the issue yet. But after a few days, got an email from The Keg, offering either a refund for the missing part or a gift card… I accepted the gift card, whose value turned out to be almost 3 times the value of the missing items. thank you The Keg.View more
I was looking forward to the keg as it has a good reputation however the sirloin was tough the French fries were from frozen & my friends said the Caesar salad was terrible - I was hoping for an 8 out of 10 but only got a 5 - - lobster tails were good . I will not be returning to the kegView more
Firstly this review applies to every location around Canada as I've been to most of them at least once. I'm not into supporting chain restaurants but this one is my exception & this is why. As a business consultant who has worked in the foodservice & hospitality sector as a consultant I am always impressed when a company is doing it right & for the right reasons - this being 100% a great customer experience in order to own that customer for life (in marketing it's seen as lifetime customer value). I'm business in general, companies & restaurants alike spend a lot of money on marketing their brand & services & the smart ones think long-term. The keg does this like no other one I have seen in their market & very few in other especially chains & even privately owned operations. As I always educate CEO's & teams, it's not if a company is going to mess-up it's how the company manages the reaction to their errors that makes the the difference & directly effects the long-term value of a customer. Steaks are generally not always easy to be cooked to perfection & often & especially in non-steakhouses you (I) can't expect a steak to be cooked to my satisfaction - & not because I'm a foodie & amateur chef. So here why The Keg deserves man kudos. When an error occurs the entire staff are trained to monitor a customers reaction to their served food. They actually watch to make sure its patrons are enjoying their culinary expertise & not just the atmosphere. On many occasions I have experienced moments where my steak was not cooked to my request which is pink inside & Chicago (crispy) on the outside of my steak which is typically a Rib Steak. I have ordered New York strip but have had issues everywhere including The Keg & it's largely due that this is a less marbled steak & often can be more dry & less juicy. I've also had this with my roast beef (which is awesome when cooked right - though their "au jus" does need more flavourful improvement as it's a little bland). Every time anything should go wrong the server & manager always owns up to their error & will personally make you feel at ease & without worry. They will quickly deal with the remedy & when they return with your new meal, all the trimmings are fresh & hot & the steak (in my example) typically is spot on (unless it's a 24oz roast beef or New York strip which seems to be a challenge), which is why I stick to the Rib Steak. & then the manager will be at your side asking if you could take a bite in the center to be sure that it's to your (my) satisfaction & in the event it's not, which is rare, they will own it again & offer you a replacent without worry of time or meal just to make you happy. & they will expedite it too - how I don't know but they rapidly (within 5 minutes) will return to the table once again with a fresh new plate of food & see if it's to your liking. In addition to this they realize the impact this has on other members of the table & generally address them & find a way to compensate the disruption with some form of comps. & they have a rule, that if they get it wrong the second time you don't pay. Now, PLEASE don't abuse this as in my case I can tell it's wrong for me within a couple of bite max, & I've not eaten the sides so it's clear I'm not looking for a free meal deal. For me it's about eating a great steak an "if" something should go wrong - & rarely ever with a Rib Steak, they have my back & make sure I'm happy. This is why for steak I prefer The Keg hands down & why I've been a patron for decades & you should too. Side note, everything they make is delicious from the big fresh & juicy shrimp cocktail to their meaty & tender ribs, to their fish & chicken dishes - all fantastic & also excellent value for the money. Their sides are delicious & portions are generous & with the money, especially their wedge salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. & don't get me started with their amazing hot fresh baked sour dough bread. Go & eat there asap!View more
