The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. Although its name and décor have changed over time, the dining experience has always stayed consistent. The Keg’s focus has been, and continues to be, on providing exceptional service and quality food in a comfortable atmosphere for its guests.
Quality, comfort and value are three key ingredients that make The Keg experience unlike any other. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend. Classic cocktails, delicious appetizers, succulent seafood, and an outstanding wine list round out its classic menu. The Keg’s friendly and knowledgeable staff creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy, relax and be themselves. Whether you’re getting together with friends or celebrating with family, you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
Overall, reviews paint The Keg as a place with consistently excellent steaks and reliable cocktails, especially for ribeye, filet mignon, and New York strip, with sides and baked potatoes praised and the menu offering solid value for many diners. The ambiance shifts from intimate, low lighting dining to a lively bar area, and the atmosphere is often described as warm and comfortable, suitable for special occasions. Service is generally friendly and professional, with many experiences featuring attentive staff and smooth pacing, though crowded rooms can feel noisy and rushed, and timing can suffer on busy nights. A number of visits report good experiences spoiled by long waits for meals, occasional miscommunications at the bar or with reservations, and some inconsistency in cooking, with some dishes overcooked, underseasoned, or drier than expected. Overall, The Keg is viewed as a dependable go to for steak lovers, offering strong dishes and a pleasant atmosphere, while price and occasional service or kitchen hiccups remind guests that experiences can vary by location and night.
Celebrated New Year's at the Keg & was served by Matthew. Service was phenomenal. Being in the restaurant industry myself, I know to proper steps of service. The food was delicious & came steaming hot, the allergies were taken care of, the manager made sure to touch our table & the atmosphere was beautiful. Considering it was jam packed, everything came quick. Would strongly recommend going to the Keg in Pointe-Claire if you're looking for a great date night spot, night out with the boys or girls or for a party. Amazing bar section as well!

Food amazing, service 👍, we made reservations beginning on January for Valentine's Day, we were 20 min early, but gave us a table in the bar, wasn't happy, it wasn't what I wanted for Valentine's Day, a little noise, TV right in front of me.
For a'steak house' , the rib steak was salty, charred & dry. Dining in the bar area was exceptionally loud , the service was good though. It was the same as the first time I had dinner there several years ago. I do have to say that the ice cream cake was really good.
So we went there last night on Friday night December 12th. We went for a late supper. We got there around 9:30 I believe so when we got there we didn't have any reservation. But the young lady at the door was very helpful in finding us a table within a few minutes. She invited us to go have a drink at the bar, which we did. Meanwhile waiting for our table. I was happy they had Bumbu rum & my son had one of they're featured drinks on the menu. It was a Gin basil lemonade I think either way they were both very well made. Very good drinks. Our table was ready before we got served our drinks. That's how fast it was. We had a nice booth & a corner with a view of that fireplace, the restaurant, the bar, television...It was really really comfortable.
So my son ordered the prime rib 14 oz with the grilled vegetables. I had the 10 oz filet mignon & we asked for....he wanted it rare.... I wanted mine medium rare & the cooking was spot on PERFECT?? It was perfect. The food was very good. The plate presentation & quantity(see pics)....Everything was excellent
Especially the service....o m f g...the reason I gave a five score is we were served by Alycia P & thanks to her I'm giving five stars. The service was impeccable. It was as if we were royalties. She was really really good. Very professional, polite & beautiful .There was nothing I could say. There's just perfect service. Perfect perfect service! So if you're going & you're lucky you'll be in Alycia's section 🙂
Either way though I know Alicia gave 100% service which was the reason I made it at five ⭐ but.... the food was also excellent. The seasoning on the filet mignon & the size, the quantities. Like I said, I also had a Monte Carlo potato which is very much suggested btw ..So look at our pictures. We'll show you a couple of pictures of our food & stuff & our drinks & of course I recommend you go there. Obviously this place is really really good......It's you know... one of those rare restaurants where you can still get a great meal with great service & a great setting & also they have everything there. They have the whole combination so you definitely want to go. This is a if you haven't been or if you're not sure where to go, don't question yourself go here KEG RESTAURANT FAIRVIEW POINTE-CLAIRE you won't regret it & once you had a great meal write a nice little review to show your gratitude... It helps them out & it's an honest review...so go check it out...NOW! hehe
Stop procrastinating invite a friend, your sister, your mother, anybody ...your neighbor go alone even or if you have a couple of friends go eat there.... Go try it! There's one at Fairview Mall we went to in Pointe-Claire & we were lucky enough to be in Alycia's section so not only did we get amazing food but we got their best employee for table service & also the table was even amazing like where we were sitting. So go to the Fairview Mall. It's on the Southeast corner of the building FAIRVIEW POINTE CLAIRE. Can't miss it, Won't regret it!
Thank you Alycia!
Local West Island steak house, not cheap but very trendy, great staff & cocktails. You are looking at 100$ each with a few drinks & dessert of course. They o have drink specials at 5 to 7pm at the bar though.
I recently visited The Keg Steakhouse & left with mixed feelings. To begin with, the restaurant was extremely crowded. While a busy dining room can sometimes create a lively atmosphere, in this case it felt a bit overwhelming & made the experience less relaxing. It also added a sense of being rushed, both for the guests & possibly for the staff.
On a positive note, the service was very fast. Our server was attentive, & the dishes arrived quicker than expected, which is always appreciated, especially on a busy evening. The drinks were also a highlight of the night-well-prepared, balanced, & genuinely enjoyable. It was clear that the bar staff know what they're doing, & the cocktails were one of the best parts of the visit.
However, the food itself didn't quite meet expectations. The meals were not as tasty or flavorful as they should be for a steakhouse of this reputation & price range. The seasoning & overall quality felt underwhelming. Considering the cost, we were expecting a richer taste & a more memorable dining experience.
Overall, although the service was efficient & the drinks were excellent, the crowded environment & the disappointing food made the visit less satisfying than hoped. The quality-to-price ratio simply didn't feel justified. I hope the restaurant can improve the consistency & flavor of their dishes, because at the moment, it doesn't fully meet the standards its prices suggest.

We were 3 couples out for dinner at the Keg in Fairview Pointe-Claire with a 6:15 reservation. My wife had noticed that there is a happy hour till 6pm so we contacted our party & suggested we arrive at 5:30 ish to take advantage of it. Upon arrival we were directed to the bar area. There were lots of empty tables around the bar but we were told that we could not sit there. You need to order food if you want to sit there. The bar stools were not ideal for a party of six. Keep in mind that we only needed the table for 45 minutes until we moved to the dining area. We insisted a bit & they finally went to get special permission from a manager who agreed that we could use a table. They made it look like they were doing us a favor for us to spend our money in their establishment. Go figure! What ever happened to the customer is king! I'm sure some MBA wrote the rules to maximize profits. He or she probably skipped the class on don't piss of the customer cuz they may not come back or worse, tell their friends to pick another restaurant. If this had been the only hiccup during the evening, we might have been willing to let it slide. But no, at 6:02, we asked our waitress to bring on the second round of our happy hour drinks. We were in for a rude awakening. The'rude' word ended up being rather appropriate. Our waitress said we missed the happy hour & it was too late. I responded with' you've got to be kidding me'. By now, it's 6:03 & she doubled down.'There nothing I can do' she quipped.'Why didn't you come around to let us know it was last call' as is customary. No response.'Had we known that, we would have ordered the 2 drinks at the same time' I chimed. This time, I did get a response;'you not allowed to do that'. The 6 of us were getting very hot under the collar. The evening was spoiled. So the Keg managed to attract us with a happy hour policy but then found a way to piss us off royally. We thought of all leaving but we decided that we would be punishing ourselves. After all, we were out to have a good time & we did not want a rude bar waitress & an unfriendly Keg policy to spoil our evening. It might be a while before we book a reservation at the Keg.
Quite disappointing experience, although our waiter was very efficient he was overwhelmed, looked like he was attending all the tables in the bar area. Our bread was served minutes before my main meal, had to ask for my sprite twice. Ordered the lobster roll, not too much flavor, salad was too garlicky for me, the fries were awful, tasted like McCain frozen fries. My partners dish was OK. So overall for a bill of over 200 dollars, mediocre experience. Use to be so much better.
I had called at 15:14hrs to inquire if it would be possible to order a blue or rare piece of prime rib. I was assured, enthusiastically, that it would NOT be a problem. Unfortunately, the prime roast was only available starting at a medium; I was not a happy camper. I would have eaten somewhere else that had roast beef. However, the Keg is the Keg & my rib steak (Pittsburg style) was textbook...brought a tear to my eye! The salade, the side veggies, & twice baked potatoe were as perfect as could be. Added bonus was our Server, Sarah. Amazing customer service & articulate. Note: if you want a more intimate setting, perhaps the dining room would be more suitable. The bar area is a true round table pub/happy hour setting.
Missing personality. Very cut & dry steakhouse (pun intended). Went for a birthday, I don't like steak so picked the blackened chicken that was not blackened at all. It was like a boiled barely seasoned chicken breast. Not buttery or sweet from the'hot honey'. The fries were also subpar. Everyone else enjoyed their steak meals though! Just need to work on non steak entrées!! Calamari & soups were also good. Waiter was very professional yet fun, explained a lot about the wine pairing which was a great experience.
Amazing Food! The lobby & bar side were quite noisy. The dining room was less noisy, but the lighting could have been more intimate. I Our reservation for 2 was a 20 minute wait, as they seated someone else at our table. No worries, they did provide free appetizers for the inconvenience. It was our anniversary & I suppose thinking on it now, they did have that info & still gave the table away. Again they were very polite & apologetic, but it will be a footnote of a 15th anniversary. The GRUYÈRE MUSHROOM DIP was truly amazing! So delicious. The KEG CAESAR & ICEBERG WEDGE salad with blue cheese dressing were very tasty. The main event... The Keg Classic 10oz FILET MIGNON & 12oz NEW YORK STRIPLOIN were mouth watering delicious. Just close your eyes & take in the melt in your mouth, delicately seasoned aged beef. MmmmMmmmmm. The service at our table was impeccable!! Maria is so wonderful. Maria is The perfect waitress, always smiling, warm & kind, bilingual :) ,she truly is a beautiful gem if you have the pleasure of meeting her. Thanks Maria!!
I went the other day with a friend, it had been a little while since I had been. They have a very decent happy hour with good prices on wine & drinks. We had the beef sliders from they're bar menu, we also had the tuna tartare. Both were excellent. The staff was also very welcoming & professional. I'd say probably one of the better places to grab some drinks & food in the west.
Disappointing evening at the Keg Pte Claire for my mother's birthday. Spent a few hundred bucks & left with mixed feelings. While the service & my steak was good, the rest was a bit disappointing. Ordered a caesar salad to start, it had barely any vinaigrette, nothing else but parmesan on it & most of the salad wasn't fresh. It's probably one of the worst caesar salad I've had, it's usually a pretty safe dish. My son had a plate of veggies with his kid meal. Th carrots were huge, he couldn't bite into it, I had to cut them again & the celeri was full of dirt from where it grew. Not impressed. I had the rib steak for the main which was really good but the side of veggies tasted nothing. All this to say that it wasn't a terrible experience but when paying a few hundred bucks for a meal you expect a certain quality in the food & it was simply not there. It was my first time at the Pte Claire location & not sure I will go back, had much better experience in Laval & Downtown Montreal. Not the type to complain at the restaurant or to leave reviews for a matter of fact but the fact that I woke up the next morning wondering if I should have brought the family elsewhere made me do it.

Well. They took a same day call from the Pres Cup golf event that day. Offered a bar table & ended up with a nice comfy table. I messed up my hard earned AirMiles voucher (wrong 2 page info) & couldn't log in for Voucher. Manager (Miranda?) & my server fixed it with a quick offer & I can't thank you enough for that. After being on the golf course for 8+ hrs & super hungry & my 80yr old dad in tow that was an awesome touch. Classy gesture from a 5* eatery. Thanks.
Really good steakhouse & reasonably priced. Whether sitting in the bar or the restaurant, the chairs are comfortable, & the service is good. I prefer this to any Baton Rouge or Firegrill. The only negative is that the dining room is very dark.
Unfortunately worst experience I've ever had at the keg. I come here with a certain standard & expectation as I have visited many locations of the keg throughout the years, but this time really disappointed me. Most of our food was so blehhh! It looked & tasted frozen or microwaved. Service was very transactional, no care or personality. Lastly the atmosphere on the terrasse was very low class....felt more like a local bar. Rowdy customers & staff not serious at all. Usually the highlight of going to the keg for me is getting the billy miner pie for dessert, but we were so turned off that by the end of it we just wanted to get out of there. Overall, this will not stray me away from the keg in general, but I will never return to this location. I wish we went somewhere else :(
I go to the keg on a weekly basis in both Ontario & Quebec. The quality has gone down in the last 6 months at this location unfortunately. Our nacho order was incorrect & being remade but while it was being redone, they left the garlic cheese toast on the warmer. By the time we got it it was room temp. They did make us a new one but we were full at that point. Also the nacho size has gone down by 25-30%, specifically at this location only. The mango daiquiris as usual are amazing however it was sitting on the bar top for awhile before our server brought it for us & we were the only ones on the patio she was serving. They did give us a free Billy miner pie as it was my mom's birthday, which is standard for birthdays.
