It was my husband's bday & he loves the prime rib. This time, however, the prime rib was not good. We each had one & they were tiny & not the same usual amazing flavours. On top of that, the fire alarm was screeching & blaring for 15 - 20 mins. They gave us our soft drinks for free & the bill with tax & tip was still 130$. Very disappointed.
Qualité de la nourriture correct, service impeccable & ambiance bonne. Frites congelées & rib steak manque de saveur. Pour le prix affiché ça pourrais être mieux.
Great food. Slow service, especially when leaving. Took nearly 20 minutes between asking for the check & it being brought to our table. Otherwise great eatery. Best thing we ate by far was the Gruyére Mushroom Dip. The bread was fresh, light & crispy. The dip was perfectly spiced creamy & decadent. The ribs were good but the side sauce outshined the meat in that dish. The fries were soggy & under seasoned.
Our dinner here was fantastic! My husband's escargot was the best he's ever had. The lobster Bisque was also outstanding! We each had the ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection & very flavorful! We enjoyed it very much!
Sat in the lounge Feb 15th for a 9pm reservation. I wish we remembered our server's name but he was wonderful! We were sat on time, in a booth, which I asked for in the reservation notes. $150 for rib steak, 14oz prime rib & sangria pitcher before tip. Quite pricey to me but I don't go to these type of places, I was given a gift card, so maybe that's on the cheap end of steakhouse prices? I'll leave that for you to decide. I'd definitely go back if given another gift card (or if I had the money to spare) & I must say it was the best steak I've ever eaten! Perfectly rare throughout, verging near blue rare close to the bone which is my preference. Their steak knives are incredibly dull though, pretty difficult to cut with. Sangria pitcher was huge & strong for the price. My partner liked the prime rib but said he preferred the steak I ordered- from trying the prime rib, it was a bit dry & I wouldn't really recommend it if you're craving steak. However it was the last of that size for the night, so it's probably better earlier in the day. The red wine sauce was great. Again, our server was absolutely fantastic & made sure the kitchen had the prime rib in the size we wanted. So in short, if you're comfortable with the price, I'd recommend this place.
We celebrated my husband's birthday last night at The Keg. This was our first disappointment at The Keg The restaurant was empty. Our waiter, Daniel, was excellent & very attentive. The sour bread was spectacular, as was our appetizer- the Blue Cheese wedge salad. My husband & our friend each ordered the steak with a lobster tail. I ordered the prime rib. We all requested medium rare beef. Although the meat came as requested, the rib was dry, with no juice & cold. Both men mentioned the lobster was delicious, but their beef was tough. Daniel surprised us with a delicious Mocha ice cream birthday wedge for dessert, which was very much appreciated. This was the only time in decades that we were disappointed in The Keg.
I visited The Keg for the first time ever one weekday evening & I was greeted by friendly front of house staff who got us seated at a table within a few minutes. Our table waiter was pleasant & took time to go through the menu with me. After deciding on our dishes there was a fair bit of wait time between the appetizer & the main, there seem to have been a shortage of workers on the floor. The blackened chicken was terribly salty (I am sure it would have had good flavour if it wasn't for the amount of salt used) The BBQ ribs was not that flavourful either, but the mashed potato, fries, was good. The corn biscuit was too hard but has a decent flavour to it. The Atmoshere was dimly lit which was nice, but even though it wasn't noisy, the sounds of dinnerware breaking (more than once) was enough to ruin the ambiance. The location is nice, but for the price & quality of the food I personally would not be eager to visit again.
5-Stars all round this was an amazing evening. Visited with work colleagues early Nov 23. Service was excellent. I really liked that the servers knew the menu & could recommend dishes. Main course I had the prime rib which is probably one of, if not best steak I have ever tasted. So beautifully cooked, great marbling & horseradish cleared my head. Thanks to the team. Really great night out in Montreal as a visitor.
