Olive et Gourmando's nocturnal sister: Foxy. Wood fired cooking paired with plenty of veggies. Charred flatbreads, grilled meat and fish. Rustic, seasonal, and honest. Cozy atmosphere and relaxed dress code. Welcoming young children for early service only.
Foxy draws praise across reviews for inventive, wood-fired cuisine and an open, intimate atmosphere, with the option to sit at the chef's counter to watch the action; dishes are described as flavorful and creative, with standouts like maitake mushrooms, bluefin tuna tartare, halibut, mussels and flatbread with feta, all showcasing seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and wood fire. The service is repeatedly noted as impeccable and friendly, though a few experiences mention occasional lapses or pressure during peak times. Pricing and portion sizes receive mixed feedback, some finding the value aligns with the high quality while others feel portions are small for the price. The ambiance, especially the terrace, is frequently praised, and cocktails receive strong reviews, making Foxy a standout Montreal dining destination despite seasonal or seating-based variability.
You just know the food will be excellent if there's an Argentinian grill displayed in the center of the restaurant. Everything was so original & enjoyable to devour.
I don't think I can say enough good things about this place.
I have eaten at Michelin star restaurants all around the world. A lot of them are generally tasting menus. Which I do believe foxy may offer. However, we chose the Comptoir chef seating. Which means we got to sit at the counter & watch the chefs in action it was such an amazing experience.
When you first walked into the restaurant, you can smell the wood because they cook everything over wood & it is such an amazing smell. It sets you up for a great experience right from the beginning.
We sat at the counter as I mentioned. At first, I was thinking while this counter is awfully tiny. How is this going to work. But I do find that the servers staggered the food & placed everything precariously in a way that made it all work. So yes, it's a small space but it worked just fine.
We ordered a bunch of items to share between the group. We started with the Scallop Crudo & the feta & pita. I personally loved the scallops more than the pita, but my coworkers loved the pita better. Then we moved on to The Little gem salad & the Capelletti pasta. Both were fantastic. Last we had maitake mushrooms & cod. The mushrooms were a meter event for me! I've obsessed with mushrooms, & this was absolutely incredible.
The server came by & asked if we wanted dessert. We decided to have oysters & carrots as our dessert. Lol we saw the chefs making them & they just looked so incredible that we couldn't resist.
This is going to sound really strange, but those carrots were really one of the highlights for me. I can't explain it. They were just so incredibly flavorful & it was something I will think about for a long time.
The only negative for me is that I didn't really love the wine selection that the server suggested. However, wine is such a personal preference that it's not really his fault. It just it wasn't for me.
Major shout out to Jenna. She was manning the oven closest to us. & she was doing everything with a smile. She was explaining the process to us. She was doing such an incredible job. She made the experience even more fun.
I will 100% come back here when I am back in Montreal.
Top expérience. Première fois, certainement pas la dernière. Souper de fête avec mon garçon d'un an & demi & la famille. Staff hyper accueillant, bouffe remplie de saveurs & de textures, cocktails, mocktails & vin super aussi.
Merci !
Foxy is truly a special restaurant, world class in every regard. From the impeccable table service by our friendly & attentive server Martine, to the incredible well-deserved Michelin rated cocktails by Sabrina, our experience was by far the best we've had in all of Montreal! Each & every dish is sourced locally, with immaculate attention to detail & you can truly taste the difference as each is kissed with the love of the wood fire. Every dish was truly perfection! I highly recommend the whole fish char if it's available. Also, order the New Delhi cocktail, it will be one of the best you've ever had.

Definitely advise sitting at the chef's counter - so fun to see all the dishes go into the wood fire stove & all the artful presentations by the kitchen staff
Must order feta & pita & the Giuseppe's Garden cocktail. Shishito peppers were also great
