Nouilles de Lan Zhou easily earns 5 stars for offering the best Chinese noodles I've ever had. From the moment I took my first bite, I was blown away by the rich & authentic flavors that transported me straight to the heart of traditional Chinese cuisine. The noodles are hand-pulled with incredible precision, creating a texture that is both perfectly chewy & tender, a hallmark of genuine craftsmanship. The broth & seasoning were equally impressive, with layers of flavors that were complex yet balanced, providing a truly memorable dining experience. The variety of noodle dishes on the menu is remarkable, catering to both adventurous eaters & those who prefer more familiar tastes. The restaurant itself boasts a warm & inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy a comforting meal. The staff were attentive & knowledgeable, always ready to provide recommendations or explain the dishes with a smile. Whether you're a fan of Chinese cuisine or just looking to try something new, Nouilles de Lan Zhou is an absolute must-visit. This place redefines what authentic Chinese noodles should taste like, & I cannot recommend it enough.
the beef tendon soup & the dan dan noodles were tasty. we expected more of tendon in the beef'tendon' soup (there were only 2 pieces) but overall the amount of meat provided was well worth the money. the broth was excellent & did not taste like they just poured MSG in it (like some chinese restaurants you can just die of thirst after a few sips of soup). the spice was just right. the service was quick & the waiter was friendly but it would have been nice to get some refills of water..& they did not come around to do that; defintely get there early (we did dinner at 5pm before lines were long). our leftovers lasted us another 2 meals - this place is a good bang for your buck
This is the second time I've eaten there, the first time it was in the middle of winter & the layout of the place means that we ate with our winter coats on because of the gaping door that let the cold inside the restaurant. This time they have enlarged the South part which offers a few more seats. Obviously we had to wait in line outside (10-15 minutes) because the place is so well-known. Once inside the order was placed quickly. The lack of air conditioning & the unpadded benches are what I noticed. For orders it's quite simple, you have to choose the type of soup & the choice of noodle size, the sides if you want. When the dishes arrive I notice that the broth is ultra hot 🥵, I like that. To enhance the soup a little I would have liked to have more herbs & an egg without paying extra. The chili sauce & the lack of fresh air make us sweat profusely, it feels like we're in a sauna!!! Fortunately we didn't have to finish the soup & we can take the leftovers home. Wow, I ate well but I couldn't wait to go out to get some air. Very satisfied under the circumstances, very difficult to find parking if you come by car, plan to wait in line before eating, do not wear light-colored or expensive clothing (the splashes of broth with the hot sauce stain your clothes)
We ordered the Beef Dan Dan noodles & Vegetable Noodles. I had the Beef Dan Dan with the thinnest noodles, while my husband opted for the thicker number three noodles. We also enjoyed some edamame & cucumber salad. The Beef Dan Dan reminded me of Persian spaghetti but without the tomato sauce, which I absolutely loved! It had just a hint of broth, & I asked for it to be mild spicy-delicious! We both really enjoyed the edamame with the pickles; it was flavorful & satisfying. The service was quick, & the food was excellent. Overall, the high ratings reflect the restaurant's commitment to quality & service. Plus, the chairs were adorable & petite!
Overall the noodles are OK. You get to choose your noodle size & the broth. The wait is a bit annoying because the location is small, but once you're in they are really speedy & efficient. I ordered the vegetable broth & a side of cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was no good in my opinion but the noodles were OK. You get a big portion for a moderate price which was really nice. & again the service is excellent. Not sure this place is worth waiting in line. Best to go when there isn't a crowd for a filling & affordable lunch
The place was busy, you can see the staff making the noodles. Service was fast. The beef broth was delicious but needs a bit more richness. Every order we got was really good & serving size was huge. Our only comment would be the spiciness, it was not as spicy as we expected, it lacks szechuan. Especially with the dan dan noodles.
Dan Dan noodles were seasoned just right & seemed like no msg. Appreciated some greens in dish, too. Chum said broth for Lanzhou noodles was rather salty, but he liked the dish overall. Seated in ac section so very happy about that. Servers were efficient rather than warm, though they were polite.
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten in my life, the broth is tasty & the meat is tender, I took a giant bowl but the service needs to be improved
Hand pulled noodles & great broth & other treatments. We had the special noodle soup & the dan dan noodles & both were excellent. Spice level was good as most places make their soup too mild even when asking for spicy. Definitely a must go when hitting Montreal's Chinatown.
still the same great taste many years later! perfectly cooked chewy handmade noodles & delicious broth. the restaurant expanded since i last went so there was no line up & much more seating. still had a bit of a line when we were leaving but definitely moved quick. cucumber salad & edamame were very flavourful & awesome for spice lovers. still no AC in this place so it gets quite warm & humid in the summer but the place was still packed nonetheless which says a lot about the food for sure.
When you see people lined up for noodle soup at 83F, you know this place is legit. This place serves good hand-pulled noodles & the service was pretty quick. The place itself is small & divided into 2 seating sections. I recommend coming here early especially if you have a big group. They have 7 types of noodles & number 7 is the most favorite one. The noodles are chewy, not too thick, & slurping good! The highly recommended noodle soup has a clear, fresh broth & tender meat. It's so good! & their dandan noodles is also superb although not spicy enough if you enjoy spicy food.
Best noodles & best broth in montreal. Staff is fast & efficient. People doing noodles in the front of the house is a plus value for ambiance.
Nice place. Have vegetarian ramen option. Their appetisers are very tasty. Must try the edamame & cucumber salad. Portion size is excellent. They have vegetarian & beef, pork broth. Do not have chicken broth. We took the small size bowl & was more than enough for one person. Great location right in Chinatown.
Long lines, but authentic hand-pulled noodles. Noodles With broth or house dan dan style were very good. Best option: order take out!
very good chinese noodles!! very tasty broth & homemade noodles,, food was so incredibly good. service was very very quick & polite. there's a nice asian supermarket downstairs that is worth checking out!
Clear light bone broth with noodles of your choice & spicy level. I had #1, thinnest noodles & extra extra spicy. Service staff prompt & courteous. Will try the thicker noodles next time.
I've heard about this place from the internet & try to visit it. It was really good. The noodle is handmade & you can choose the type of the noodle you like. The broth is also good & the portion is big. I ordered the traditional beef noodle soup big size & it was bigger than I expected. Their chili is not as hot as I expected & their beef is chewy & tender. The place is a little bit small, but there's a lineup when I visited it. Be prepare to get in a lineup especially on the weekend at dinner hour. The lineup is worth for the food itself.
My family & I had to wait in a line with people lining out the store. The line was quick, & the server was very fast & efficient. Food was absolutely INCREDIBLE with handmade noodles & a silky broth, melt in your mouth meat, & a spicy option to really crank up the heat. It's served in gigantic portion sizes, so make sure to only order the medium or small if you aren't starving.
