Afficher toutnoodle(409) soup(113) beef(80) broth(77) spicy(39) recommend(37) rapide(36) bowl(35) busy(31) fresh(29) huge(27) salad(26)Amazing noodles & flavor. I had the beef brisket soup, sort of like a Chinese Pho. The noodles are customizable & hand made & the flavor there really shows. Overall flavor is fairly simple but tasty. There are not a lot of options overall, essentially just noodles/soup. Atmosphere is good overall as well, not a bad spot for a date or meetup, though not so great for larger groups. Place is busy & packed but for good reason.
Great noodle spot. My first time going. They are quick & efficient. The broth is really great. The beef tender. Price is reasonable for a small! Would return
We were lucky to get a table for 5 people! Resto not busy. We ordered 4 vegie noodle soups & one beef noodle soup. Portion was very generous. We enjoyed all soups. Veggie Broth not as rich as meat Broth but this is why we liked it. Simple & yet still delicious. We love trying diffrent soups.
Overall it was great.
We waited for 30 mins but the order came out fast.
Ordered Dandan noodle & Beef noodle:
Dandan noodle: On point. Probably the best dandan we had in North America.
Beef noodle: Maybe it was the size 4 noodle but it was pretty average in my opinion.
Still great choice for people looking for reasonable priced food in town.
If you're a fan of fresh, hand-pulled noodles in a rich, aromatic broth, this Montreal spot is a must-try, nothing else quite compares. It's so popular that lines are common, but they move quickly & are absolutely worth the wait. My go-to order is the beef Lanzhou pulled #2 noodles paired with a flavourful cucumber salad. Solo diners take note: there's a dedicated counter section where you can usually snag a seat without waiting in line. Just walk passed the line (it's fine!). With its central location, fair prices, & great quality, this place ranks among Montréal's top eats imo.
Their brooth is excellent both beef & chicken with in house made noodles.
Staff efficient, fast & great.
If your looking for a fabulous soup, this is the place.
Our family of six had a terrible experience at this noodle restaurant during our trip to Montreal, Quebec. The first two of us arrived & had to wait for 15 minutes without a single staff member coming to greet us. After trying to get someone to noticed, they made us wait until all six of us had come to were seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables. We ordered traditional beef noodles, zha jiang noodles, & dan dan noodles. They were awful including side dishes; we practically left half of our food uneaten. I don't understand why this noodle restaurant has so many high ratings. We followed the reviews & were disappointed with both the staff & the noodles.
It's good. I got the beef noodle - classic one but the veg noodle has no taste. 2 combo ended up close to $43 (tip not included yet)
Don't go as a vegetarian. The vegetarian option is bland & not good. This place is best known for meat options lanzhou la mien is a spicy beef noodle speciality.
The small veggie dishes were good
The noodles here slap. Literally, you can see them stretching & slapping the hand pulled noodles through the window. I like the Lanzhou Beef Noodles spicy version. I think the broth could be better, it tastes a bit flat. But overall, it's good value to eat in & have a bowl of noodles, especially as the weather gets colder.
Finally tried this place after passing by a few times. I went there during a very cold Monday night & there was no lines & I got seated right away.
The beef noodle dish was good similar to the Vietnamese bun bo hue, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get in line to try it.
I had beef noodles in Lanzhou, the taste here is 80% similar with Lanzhou local beef noodles. But it was good, especially in Montreal.
Waited almost an hour for a table on a Sunday evening. While in line, I was irritated with a Chinese lady who walked past the long queue while telling her friend to behold the foolish foreigners & tourists who don't know any better.'Just shut up & mind your own business,' I thought.
It turns out she wasn't wrong.
The staff was very helpful & friendly, but the food was thoroughly underwhelming. The potato side dish flavored with seaweed salad was an unnecessary mash-up. It is extremely rare for our family of three to leave a dish untouched after only a couple of bites. The edamame was a much better choice.
The flagship Lanzhou beef noodles lacked flavor, & the beef was paper-thin. I am very puzzled as to why this place is rated so highly. In fact, I cannot recall eating at another beef noodle place that isn't noticeably better than this one.
I wish we could give a higher rating. Especially since this is our second time back in Montreal ,
We were here last year from Boston, & we were in china town, we decided we would come back to try the fresh hand pulled noodles,
Today we stood in the line for 45 min, & were left feeling underwhelmed by the dishes & the choice.
Our table doesn't eat beef or pork, they don't have any chicken , so the veggie was the only option- the only real choice was the noodle thickness.
So this is just a lot of broth & a whole lot of noodles. Nothing by way of protein- with options such as tofu, seitan, fake meat, this just feels like such a let down.
& the veggies that were put were measly for the size of the bowl, 3 broccoli, 2 pieces of bok choi & few corn pieces.
The size is generous, but for water & noodles, I would say it is overcharged.
The broth, like others pointed out, is so mild & plain. It could be enjoyed if you like that but after enjoy hunan cuisine & Mala hot pot in Boston, we were lacking the flavors - there was only some chilli crisp & some vinegary sauce on the table. They wouldn't give us any soy sauce when we requested. They actually asked us to go down to the store (in their basement)to get the sauces we wanted.
I was amazed at that attitude.
I could have made the soup work with some flavoring, salt, some sauce, something. So that was a letdown.
We just sat there munching noodles & slurping on bland water the entire time.
For the wait time, lack of protein & for the flavor (or lack of it), it was a hard pass for us. Maybe the non-vegetarian folks have more luck at this place, I hope you guys do!
Because the noodles are fresh, & it needs a nice broth to shine in.
If you're coming to Boston, please try kungfu malatang in Brighton ! So many veggies & mushroom varieties- plus a fresh hunan chilly base makes for an amazing meal in the cold months.
Or any of the little q hot pot branches. They make an amazing pot of soup noodles
Best noodle soup i know of (beef spicy) the option of spicy cucumber on the side is really good. I go despite being out of montreal.
Amazing noodles. I had the Lanzhou beef noodles-the broth was full of flavor, & the handmade noodles really made a difference, both in texture & overall taste. The egg was somewhat cold but still delicious, & the seaweed potato salad was a nice complement.
I was also surprised by the portion size. I ordered a medium bowl, & it was much more than expected-quite bountiful.
The only negative thing I could mention is the atmosphere. It feels cramped & a little messy, & the fact that I had to sit next to the washroom door didn't help.
The Lanzhou beef noodle soup was excellent. It's always fun to watch the guys hand pull the dough into long threads of noodles. The beef was tasty & the broth was so flavorful. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommended!
I have tried their dan dan & beef stew noodles. They taste great. However, it just gets too much towards the end because there's a lot of oil in the sauce.
The space is tiny so waiting time is expected at lunch time.
The place was packed with a huge line up on the street. Inside you will have to share table with someone else. A bit dust on the wall. But the quality of food is great. A good portion of beef there.
