I've been to Nouilles de Lan Zhou a few times for lunch, & the food has been consistently delicious every visit.
The hand?pulled noodles are always fresh & springy, the broths are flavourful without being too heavy, & the portions are generous enough to feel satisfying. Even during busy lunch hours, the service is quick & efficient, & the dishes come out piping hot. For the quality you get, the prices are very reasonable, which makes it an easy place to return to whenever I'm in Chinatown. A dependable spot for a comforting, well?made bowl of noodles.

If you're a fan of fresh, hand-pulled noodles in a rich, aromatic broth, this Montreal spot is a must-try, nothing else quite compares. It's so popular that lines are common, but they move quickly & are absolutely worth the wait. My go-to order is the beef Lanzhou pulled #2 noodles paired with a flavourful cucumber salad. Solo diners take note: there's a dedicated counter section where you can usually snag a seat without waiting in line. Just walk passed the line (it's fine!). With its central location, fair prices, & great quality, this place ranks among Montréal's top eats imo.

WORTH the wait in line! Best hand pulled noodles I've had!

The noodles here slap. Literally, you can see them stretching & slapping the hand pulled noodles through the window. I like the Lanzhou Beef Noodles spicy version. I think the broth could be better, it tastes a bit flat. But overall, it's good value to eat in & have a bowl of noodles, especially as the weather gets colder.

I wish we could give a higher rating. Especially since this is our second time back in Montreal ,
We were here last year from Boston, & we were in china town, we decided we would come back to try the fresh hand pulled noodles,

Today we stood in the line for 45 min, & were left feeling underwhelmed by the dishes & the choice.

Our table doesn't eat beef or pork, they don't have any chicken , so the veggie was the only option- the only real choice was the noodle thickness.

So this is just a lot of broth & a whole lot of noodles. Nothing by way of protein- with options such as tofu, seitan, fake meat, this just feels like such a let down.

& the veggies that were put were measly for the size of the bowl, 3 broccoli, 2 pieces of bok choi & few corn pieces.

The size is generous, but for water & noodles, I would say it is overcharged.

The broth, like others pointed out, is so mild & plain. It could be enjoyed if you like that but after enjoy hunan cuisine & Mala hot pot in Boston, we were lacking the flavors - there was only some chilli crisp & some vinegary sauce on the table. They wouldn't give us any soy sauce when we requested. They actually asked us to go down to the store (in their basement)to get the sauces we wanted.

I was amazed at that attitude.

I could have made the soup work with some flavoring, salt, some sauce, something. So that was a letdown.

We just sat there munching noodles & slurping on bland water the entire time.

For the wait time, lack of protein & for the flavor (or lack of it), it was a hard pass for us. Maybe the non-vegetarian folks have more luck at this place, I hope you guys do!

Because the noodles are fresh, & it needs a nice broth to shine in.

If you're coming to Boston, please try kungfu malatang in Brighton ! So many veggies & mushroom varieties- plus a fresh hunan chilly base makes for an amazing meal in the cold months.
Or any of the little q hot pot branches. They make an amazing pot of soup noodles

Some of the best hand pulled noodles I have had. There was a line & waited maybe 25 minutes for lunch at 1pm on a Monday. Two of us shared the medium beef noodle soup combo with the edamame & tea egg. It was all amazing & plenty of food. It was a hot day & there is not air conditioning. It was hot inside. No frills service.

There was a long line at lunch, so naturally I joined to see what's the hype. The servers are quick to seat you. (They also ask you to leave when you've paid.) I was also here during the anime convention, so it was a popular area to have lunch.

I had a seat close to the back, so it was hard to find someone to get me more water or to pay the bill. I found out that you can just go to the cashier to pay. Servers spoke French, English, & Mandarin.

I just got the traditional hand-pulled Lan Zhou beef noodle soup. The small size is $13.99; large size is $17.99. It's a big difference. I personally didn't think the noodles were that great. The texture was eh. The flavor was not really there? The beef was ok.

Ok hand-pulled noodles spot, soup was rather bland, chilli sauce tasted similar to what you can get out of a can, seaweed potato salad was actually more memorable than the noodles however.

Good portion size for what you pay for, but otherwise skippable compared to other places in chinatown

Always a great choice. Hand pulled noodles attract a crowd out front so it's easy to find! Great comfort food .

Went to this shop on a whim, intended to try their famous braised beef tendon noodle but sold out. Opted for the traditional Lanzhou beef noodle, the noodle thickness to SanXi (thin), minimal spiciness (to adjust later if needed). It was good, the broth's clarity & the rich beef flavor attested its authenticity, the hand-pulled noodle had a unique texture of chewiness & smooth sets them apart from other types of noodles. They stowed the party of one along the wall, each facing it & the seating was tight, I had to slurp my noodles cautiously, ensuring I didn't splash the people seated next to me.

Can't beat freshly pulled noodles. This place has gotten more & more popular in the past several years. They have a limited menu, which is great. The main theme is freshly hand pulled noodles. You can't go wrong with the traditional clear broth beef noodle here. If you want to try something slightly different they also make Dandan noodles & Zhajiang noodles. This is with the same noodle but instead of beef broth you get a topping of ground pork sauce or black bean sauce. I had both & both are good! You can customize the thickness of your noodles when ordering. This is great in catering to difference preferences. Since this place is getting more popular you should expect some wait if you come at meal time. But the wait is worth it. Service is prompt & efficient.

If you're in the mood for a fun dining experience with tasty food, you absolutely need to check out Nouilles de Lan Zhou! One of the coolest things about this noodle shop is watching the chefs craft fresh noodles right in front of you-it's such a mesmerizing sight! The noodles are chewy, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. The menu is packed with a great variety, so there's definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Honestly, I've had the best hand-pulled noodles here! You can pick the size of your dish, whether you want small or large, the thickness of the noodles, & even how spicy you'd like the soup. The meat is super tender, & the rich beef broth is just mouthwatering! Plus, the portions are huge & the prices are really reasonable. The service is top-notch as well! You're in for a treat!

Nouilles de Lan Zhou easily earns 5 stars for offering the best Chinese noodles I've ever had. From the moment I took my first bite, I was blown away by the rich & authentic flavors that transported me straight to the heart of traditional Chinese cuisine. The noodles are hand-pulled with incredible precision, creating a texture that is both perfectly chewy & tender, a hallmark of genuine craftsmanship. The broth & seasoning were equally impressive, with layers of flavors that were complex yet balanced, providing a truly memorable dining experience. The variety of noodle dishes on the menu is remarkable, catering to both adventurous eaters & those who prefer more familiar tastes. The restaurant itself boasts a warm & inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy a comforting meal. The staff were attentive & knowledgeable, always ready to provide recommendations or explain the dishes with a smile. Whether you're a fan of Chinese cuisine or just looking to try something new, Nouilles de Lan Zhou is an absolute must-visit. This place redefines what authentic Chinese noodles should taste like, & I cannot recommend it enough.

You know the unspoken golden rule when it comes to restaurants. If people are waiting in line, food will most probably be worth it. *Went again mid August 2025* & it was totally worth it , solid 5 in terms of taste I took the number 2. Please be ready to wait as : 1) waiting line. 2) small place. 3) they are busy. Very busy. Immensely satisfied. I had my chili oil on the side. Strongly recommend the hand pulled noodles. ( This is not a fancy sit down with lots of cushioned chairs & large tables, this is a small intimate place which delivers warm & comfort food for the soul)

Hand pulled noodles & great broth & other treatments. We had the special noodle soup & the dan dan noodles & both were excellent. Spice level was good as most places make their soup too mild even when asking for spicy. Definitely a must go when hitting Montreal's Chinatown.

Don't expect anything fancy, but the hand-pulled noodles are delicious, as the lineup outside will probably give away. Service is quick.

When you see people lined up for noodle soup at 83F, you know this place is legit. This place serves good hand-pulled noodles & the service was pretty quick. The place itself is small & divided into 2 seating sections. I recommend coming here early especially if you have a big group. They have 7 types of noodles & number 7 is the most favorite one. The noodles are chewy, not too thick, & slurping good! The highly recommended noodle soup has a clear, fresh broth & tender meat. It's so good! & their dandan noodles is also superb although not spicy enough if you enjoy spicy food.

Long lines, but authentic hand-pulled noodles. Noodles With broth or house dan dan style were very good. Best option: order take out!

Probably the most popular restaurant of Montreal's Chinatown. Lan Zhou Noodles has been a staple of hand-pulled noodles for many years. I suggest ordering the original noodles with medium sized noodles. Beware the portions are very big (even a small is filling!). The line is very long, so I recommend coming in at odd-hours. P.s. you can even visit the grocery store downstairs!
