Afficher toutnoodle(409) soup(113) beef(80) broth(77) spicy(39) recommend(37) rapide(36) bowl(35) busy(31) fresh(29) huge(27) salad(26)The food was excellent, huge portions. Nice to watch how the noodles were made at the feont of the house. Cucumber salad was spicy with nuts. I got a medium bowl & ate 1/4 of it. Very busy with 2 servers. Nowhere to stand while waiting & kept blocking wait staff. Cloths to wipe tables were left on a pile of menus & a few times dropped on the floor, then conveniently moved to abother location & not changed out. Didn't know we had to pay in the front & waited for our bill to arrive. We were told to get up because we had waited so long for the bill. Would i go again? Yes, but probably will not return to Montréal for a while.
The vegetable handmade noodle soup was really good & the portion size even for the small bowl was enormous in this not so fancy restaurant. While the food is great, be prepared for a 20 minute wait time in the line ( I went there at around 7pm.on a weekend & weekend day & the wait time was almost the same). Also the seating area is pretty cramped. But the soup made up for the discomfort. Don't miss this restaurant while in Montreal.
The place is very busy, but worth the wait. Getting to see the noodles being made is pretty cool. The flavours are excellent, the broth is rich & comforting, & the spiciness in the other dishes is just right. Everything comes together nicely in each bowl. A great spot for Chinese noodles!
I've been to Nouilles de Lan Zhou a few times for lunch, & the food has been consistently delicious every visit.
The hand?pulled noodles are always fresh & springy, the broths are flavourful without being too heavy, & the portions are generous enough to feel satisfying. Even during busy lunch hours, the service is quick & efficient, & the dishes come out piping hot. For the quality you get, the prices are very reasonable, which makes it an easy place to return to whenever I'm in Chinatown. A dependable spot for a comforting, well?made bowl of noodles.
The noodles here slap. Literally, you can see them stretching & slapping the hand pulled noodles through the window. I like the Lanzhou Beef Noodles spicy version. I think the broth could be better, it tastes a bit flat. But overall, it's good value to eat in & have a bowl of noodles, especially as the weather gets colder.
The broth needs to be improved. Also I ordered second thickness ??. The thickness of the noodles is like uneven. Some too thick some too thin, looks ridiculous in my bowl. The side dish is good.
Lan Zhou is directly a part of-occupying the floor above Marché G&D, it is a Chinatown handmade noodle spot. But you would miss if you didn't see the lineup that is not there for the market. We were headed there as part of our Chinatown trek, & it stayed busy even for a late Sunday lunch. Quarters are tight-real estate is clearly at a premium-but you don't care because you're here for the big, beautiful bowls of noodle soup.
My daughter & I stopped in while making our way through the neighbourhood (watch for those other reviews soon). We shared one large bowl & only had a little each-she took the rest home for later in the day, or maybe even the week. Really good quality all around. The handmade noodles come in about eight sizes, from wide, flat ribbons almost as big as lasagna sheets down to skinny vermicelli.
Service is abrupt & quick-no small talk, just efficiency. & when I asked about tea, the reply was short & clear:'No tea.'
I've been wanting to try Lan Zhou Noodles for almost a year but the line was always insane 😩
Finally made it, & I'd give it a solid 7.5/10 ✨ or in Google 3.5
The broth is super flavorful, noodles are on point (you can even choose your type 🍜).
The menu's small but prices are fair.
Got the small bowl & honestly… couldn't have finished a bigger one 😅
The staff dont speak French so much & the chair is bad
I wish we could give a higher rating. Especially since this is our second time back in Montreal ,
We were here last year from Boston, & we were in china town, we decided we would come back to try the fresh hand pulled noodles,
Today we stood in the line for 45 min, & were left feeling underwhelmed by the dishes & the choice.
Our table doesn't eat beef or pork, they don't have any chicken , so the veggie was the only option- the only real choice was the noodle thickness.
So this is just a lot of broth & a whole lot of noodles. Nothing by way of protein- with options such as tofu, seitan, fake meat, this just feels like such a let down.
& the veggies that were put were measly for the size of the bowl, 3 broccoli, 2 pieces of bok choi & few corn pieces.
The size is generous, but for water & noodles, I would say it is overcharged.
The broth, like others pointed out, is so mild & plain. It could be enjoyed if you like that but after enjoy hunan cuisine & Mala hot pot in Boston, we were lacking the flavors - there was only some chilli crisp & some vinegary sauce on the table. They wouldn't give us any soy sauce when we requested. They actually asked us to go down to the store (in their basement)to get the sauces we wanted.
I was amazed at that attitude.
I could have made the soup work with some flavoring, salt, some sauce, something. So that was a letdown.
We just sat there munching noodles & slurping on bland water the entire time.
For the wait time, lack of protein & for the flavor (or lack of it), it was a hard pass for us. Maybe the non-vegetarian folks have more luck at this place, I hope you guys do!
Because the noodles are fresh, & it needs a nice broth to shine in.
If you're coming to Boston, please try kungfu malatang in Brighton ! So many veggies & mushroom varieties- plus a fresh hunan chilly base makes for an amazing meal in the cold months.
Or any of the little q hot pot branches. They make an amazing pot of soup noodles
Food is nice, taste delicious
Soup noodles Looks ok, Dam Dam noodles looks boring compare to menu. Which looks bright apicy red.
Hygiene is bad, that's why I only give it 3 stars
1. chopsticks touching the menu cover, which will never be clean
2. When I ask for extra bowls & spoons, the waiter use his finger to hold the part you eat. Which god knows when is the last time his clean his hand, or what he touches.
One last good thing, no tax for cash
Amazing noodles. I had the Lanzhou beef noodles-the broth was full of flavor, & the handmade noodles really made a difference, both in texture & overall taste. The egg was somewhat cold but still delicious, & the seaweed potato salad was a nice complement.
I was also surprised by the portion size. I ordered a medium bowl, & it was much more than expected-quite bountiful.
The only negative thing I could mention is the atmosphere. It feels cramped & a little messy, & the fact that I had to sit next to the washroom door didn't help.
Do yourself a favor & go here. You can see them making their noodles from scratch right as you walk in. This place was bustling but the service was still fast & attentive. I ordered the Combo #3 vegetarian noodle soup with black egg & edamame salad with the #4 size noodle. It was pure comfort in a bowl. There is also a speciality grocery shop downstairs that has a little bit of everything!
I took a large bowl of their specialty. The only difference with the smaller ones were the noodles' quantity, the topping was the same, so proportions were not really great.
The noodles themselves were excellent but it was very little seasoned, it really lacked flavor.
The noodles are delicious & the portion sizes are huge. I'm a big eater & I wasn't able to finish the medium bowl. There was a line out the door but it does move fairly quickly.
The portions were extremely generous, & the prices were very affordable. I took the medium sized bowl & was fully satisfied. I got quite lucky & didn't have to wait for a table, I recommend coming early to avoid the lineup.
Absolutely fantastic. Do it, even if you're not sure what to order. The staff will guide you through & it will be best bowl of noodles of your life. Unless you are ravenous get the small; portions are appropriately huge.
Freshly made noodles, simple menu, tasty broth.
We tried this popular place for the first time in Feb 2025.
It is very busy & you can see them making the noddles by hand as you wait for a table.
Their menu is simple. It's either beef or pork with different types of noodles.
The dan dan was like an oriental spaghetti with a little kick of spice. We also had the beef bowl with thick #4 noodles.
I found the broth to be very tasty & beef tender but I found the noodles to be a bit chewy... i may try a different option next time.
All in all for the price it was a good lunch & the staff was polite & fast. I gave it 4 stars because I wasn't wowed by the meal I had but it was good.
Great place for freshly handmade noodles.
Yum,yum, yuuuuummmmmm. My friend has been urging me to go for noodles forever & because I wasn't a fan of the broth,I was reluctant & often hesitant, but the noodles I had were AMAZING!I love the fact that they make the noodles in front of you is a cherry on top.I had a large bowl full of flavour & I savored every bite. In addition, the interior design of the resto made the experience much mkre immersive.I would recommend investing!
Service is okay. They dont do more than take your order & bring you the food. That's it. But THE FOOD!! My god! SO AMAZING. There's usually a long line to enter...trust me, it's totally worth it. My partner & I go at least once a week. We each get a large bowl (it is pretty big) with #4 noodles. Amazing noodles❤️ I also get the chinese herbal tea, goes great with the soup
