Highly disappointed. Food was not properly cooked. Not birthday cake. No croutons etc etc. For over 100$ a person you would expect the same consistency we had for over 50 yrs. The whole table left dissatisfied. But the service was good
This place never gets old. Well actually it gets older & older & thankfully doesn't change. A true landmark in Montreal, & one of the best steakhouses with the most amazing old world decor anywhere in Canada. Stone & brick walls, fireplaces, low ceilings, complete warmth & coziness.
The food never disappoints. Been coming here for nearly 40 years. I was fortunate to enjoy their new lunch menu, $55 for a 3 course meal with many options to choose from, 4 courses if you include the lemon sorbet pallet cleanser before the main course. Bread service & pickles are always included at no extra charge, as is the chocolate mints at the very end.
Gibby's simply has the best French onion soup anywhere. I was so excited when it came I forgot to take a picture, but trust me, beyond delicious, a must-have. The steak au poivre & rack of lamb are always great, & did not disappoint on this visit.
Besides the food, service is always friendly & professional making the whole experience complete perfection. Come here for business day or night or pleasure, best date spot; you will not be disappointed. Ever.
Went yesterday to celebrate our anniversary, the young lady that took us to our table was very nice & warm. Jason was our waiter & went above & beyond explaining the menu & checked on us constantly. For appetizers we had escargots & raw oysters (chuck norris from New Brunswick). The oysters were very fresh & delicious. As part of the table d'hote we also had Oyster Rockefeller - tasted very good as well. The Beef Wellington was amazing, I had the Pepper steak, which was seasoned perfectly; but, I recommend the Diane Steak that my daughter ordered. My son had Gibby's Prime burger (medium rare) & according to him it was juicy & flavorful. The Monte Carlo potato as a side is delicious. We will definitely go back. The food is well worth it but Jason's 5-star service made our dining experience a very memorable one.

From the moment you walk in, you feel genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere is warm & classic, & the service is consistently attentive without ever feeling overdone.
The steak is always on point, perfectly cooked, high quality, & exactly what you expect every time. That consistency is what keeps us coming back.
This place has become part of our traditions, & we'll definitely continue going for years to come.

We had an amazing lunch at Gibbys today. The food was excellent, but our server, Vitali, really made the experience special. His service was outstanding-attentive, professional, & friendly. Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful evening here with my girlfriend. The blue cheese wedge salad was one of the best I've ever had & the beef Wellington was excellent. Our servers Vitali & Marie-eve were awesome. Would definitely come back.
Excellent service de Kasra & Claude hier. Ils ont vraiment transformé notre souper d'anniversaire en soirée mémorable. On sent vraiment leur amour pour l'hospitalité, l'attention au detail etaient wow & leurs conseils etaient juste & honnetes. En sortant, nous avons reservé pour une prochaine soirée tellement nous avons aimé notre expérience. Je recommandes!
been coming for years...was there just this past weekend March 21, 2026. quality has seriously dropped. the iceberg wedge salad...swimming in low grade blue cheese dressing, no blue cheese. the filet mignon, weak presentation drowning in sauce, so much sauce, what are you trying to cover up? the hatchet job on the meat? the asparagus. looked like last night's leftovers, limp. Monte Carlo potatoes, they used to be made with care & a were a beautiful sight, this time around they were unsightly, very unappetizing. Service was great. we will have to find a new venue for our birthday celebrations.

Only treats you well if you're white & old. Also doesn't do well with special occasions. Avoid if you want a meaningful dinner.
It was so sad because I could tell they were literally careless & kept me waiting almost an hour to be sat despite reserving online weeks in advance. I had a reservation for 16 for my BIRTHDAY. It was for 9:30 & upon arrival we were told that it would only be a 10m wait… why?'The table before us wasn't leaving' I had to go up to them multiple times & they'd ask me over & over'do you have a reservation??' Like ???
They ended up'seating us' at 10:15pm right when we had a second reservation at 11 (half our group ended up straight up refusing to have dinner at a place that made us wait so long)
We ended up leaving. Idk if the management is bad or if it was because we weren't Caucasian males so they thought we wouldn't spend money? Terrible.

Gibby's is our family's go-to place for birthdays, & it has truly become a tradition for us over the years. At this point, coming here feels like a family heirloom, it's the place where we celebrate our special moments together. The service is always impeccable, the steaks are consistently outstanding, & the overall experience is top-notch every single time. Everything about Gibby's feels elevated & memorable. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would.

Excellente expérience grâce à Justin ! Service impeccable & très professionnel du début à la fin. Il a été attentif à nos besoins & de très bon conseils. On se sent vraiment bien accueilli quand on tombe sur un serveur comme lui. Merci Justin pour ce super service, nous reviendrons sans hésiter !
Gibbys est un endroit fabuleux. Leur salade est l'une des meilleures que je n'ai jamais mangée. Ne vous fiez pas aux autre avis sur leur salade, ces gens sont probablement des granos qui recherchent des salades santé avec des graines de citrouilles. Chez Gibbys, la salade est riche, avec bacon, & vinaigrette abondante. Les steaks sont parfaits, géants, & tendres, avec leur nouveau drizzle à l'huile d'olive, épices à steak & à l'ail, vu nul part ailleurs. Critiquer ce resto serait d'une stupidité incroyable, en plus du service de valet gratuit.
