This dish is best enjoyed after an hour, allowing the rice to absorb all the flavors, enhancing its taste. The owner, Abhishek Arun, is incredibly friendly & passionate about his food, making every visit special. The atmosphere is warm & inviting, perfect for enjoying their unique vegan offerings. Tula is truly a gem where everyone should experience the delightful blend of flavors & exceptional service
I recently dined at Tula restaurant, & it was an exceptional experience! This place boasts an outstanding menu with a wide variety of dishes. The Tikka masala & Biryani were standout choices, bursting with incredible flavors. & when it came to dessert, the payasam was a delightful treat. However, the Biryani was the highlight of my meal - an absolute must-try. I was so impressed with Tula that I couldn't resist returning for a second visit during my 3-day trip. This restaurant is a gem, & I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended!
Amazing Vegan Indian Food at Tula! I had the pleasure of dining at Tula, & it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The chef's passion for creating flavorful, plant-based Indian dishes truly shines through in every bite. I tried the thali, which was an amazing combination of different flavors & textures, all perfectly balanced. The achaari tofu was especially mouth-watering, with a delicious tangy marinade that was perfectly spiced. Even the salad, with its fresh ingredients & flavorful dressing, was a standout. But the real showstopper was the sweet potato pudding - it was out of this world! A must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant. I can't recommend Tula enough for anyone looking for delicious vegan Indian food. Will definitely be back!
I had the pleasure of dining at Tula with my wife twice during our stay in Montreal, & I must say, it exceeded our expectations both times. Tula offers a variety of healthy & flavorful vegan dishes that truly stand out. Their thali, in particular, is a must-try. It showcases an array of flavors from different regions of India, offering a rich & diverse culinary experience. Abhishek, took the time to explain each item included in the thali, which added a personal touch to our meal. What impressed us the most was how well-prepared the food was, with minimal oil, yet packed with flavor. It had a comforting, home-cooked feel, reminding us of traditional meals we've had back home. We also appreciated the ambiance & service, both of which made our visits even more enjoyable. Whether you're vegan or not, Tula is a great place to experience wholesome, satisfying food.
This vegan restaurant is a true standout, offering a wide range of flavorful options that are sure to impress. Abhishek, the owner, was very kind & took the time to thoroughly explain the menu to us. We decided to try the plant-based chicken tikka masala & vegetable biryani, & both dishes exceeded our expectations. The flavors were bold & authentic, with the perfect balance of spices. The food was so well-prepared, it was hard to believe it was entirely vegan. The warm atmosphere & attentive service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back for more.
A Hidden Gem in Montreal's Vegan Scene - Bringing the Flavors of Maharashtra & the Konkan Coast In a city as culturally diverse as Montreal, it's no surprise that the food scene is a rich tapestry of global flavors. However, stumbling upon a humble vegan spot that not only caters to plant-based enthusiasts but also brings the authentic taste of India's Maharashtra state & the coastal Konkan region feels like discovering a hidden treasure. This little gem, lovingly curated by its passionate host, Mr. Abhishek, is one such find. Located in a quiet corner, this vegan joint may not boast flashy decor or a high-end setting, but the unassuming nature of the place only adds to its charm. The focus here is entirely on the food, & it's clear from the very first bite that this is where all the love & attention have gone. If you've ever been fortunate enough to explore the rich culinary traditions of Maharashtra, you'll recognize the flavors instantly. For those unfamiliar, you're in for an authentic, flavorful journey that will transport your taste buds directly to the Konkan coast. Maharashtrian cuisine, especially from the Konkan belt, is known for its delicate balance of spices, coconut, tamarind, & fresh, local ingredients. At this vegan spot, Mr. Abhishek has managed to recreate these authentic tastes while staying true to the plant-based ethos. What sets this place apart is its ability to transform simple, traditional ingredients into dishes that are not only delicious but also feel soulful. The care that goes into the preparation is evident, & Mr. Abhishek himself is always on hand to share the stories behind each dish. His passion for the food & his desire to introduce these flavors to the Montreal crowd shine through in every interaction. One of the standout dishes on the menu is the "Vegan Grandma Curry," a hearty & flavorful curry that uses coconut milk as the base, flavored with an array of spices that balance heat with sweetness. It's served with freshly made rice or roti, & each bite is packed with layers of flavor. While the food is a major draw, what truly makes this place special is the atmosphere. There's an undeniable warmth to the space, largely due to Mr. Abhishek's welcoming nature. He takes time to explain the nuances of each dish, often sharing anecdotes from his own experiences growing up in India's coastal regions. It's clear that this isn't just a business for him - it's a labor of love. Whether you're a seasoned vegan or someone curious to explore new flavors, you'll feel like you've been invited into Mr. Abhishek's home for a meal. In a city where vegan restaurants are becoming increasingly popular, this spot stands out for its authenticity & heart. It's not just about providing vegan food - it's about offering a true culinary experience that bridges cultures. The flavors are bold, the ingredients fresh, & the hospitality unmatched. If you're in Montreal & looking to broaden your vegan horizons, this is the place to be. In summary, this vegan joint isn't just a restaurant - it's a celebration of Indian culinary heritage, brought to life by the passion & dedication of Mr. Abhishek. Whether you're craving the bold spices of Maharashtra or simply want to enjoy a wholesome, plant-based meal, this place is a must-visit. You'll leave not only with a satisfied appetite but also with a deeper appreciation for the rich flavors of the Konkan coast.
Saw the almost 5 star restaurant pop up as I was googling vegan restaurants in Montreal. Wow so happy we came. Me, my toddler & husband visited for dinner ( our first time). We were greeted by Abhishek with a warm smile. The restaurant is cozy with a boho/ yoga peaceful vibes. We were thoroughly explained the menu by Abhiskek. He spoke with such passion & knowledge of the menu & How things were prepared. Listening to him describe the details of the ingredients in the dishes made us want EVERYTHING. So we ordered wayyy more food than our stomachs Could even hold & we are glad we did. The food presentation was beautiful with edible flowers & wonderful fragrances. Every dish we ordered blew our minds the flavors were outstanding & mouth watering. We chatted with Abhiskek who might I add, is a wonderful human. He is one of a kind. He feels so genuine & caring. He's fun & full of information. I literally want him to be our friend 🤣. But really! Souls like his don't come around too often. We stayed & talked about everything, even though we had finished eating. We took our left overs & even ordered more before leaving. Because WOW! The food is bomb. We had a wonderful experience. Amazing food plus Abhishek was a lovely evening. My toddler also loved chatting with him. Okay Also, everything is delicious & the desserts were amazing so I recommend just trying whatever you're in the mood for . You can't go wrong!!!
Tula offers a fantastic experience. The care & dedication that Abhishek & his team put into developing the menu, preparing the dishes, & providing service is exceptional. It's a wonderful representation of lesser-known regional Indian cuisine, with beautiful plating & amazing flavors. This restaurant is a must-visit, whether you're vegan or not. We will be back!
If you want to fall in love with vegan food, this is the spot! The owner is a delight & clearly takes great pride in the guests experience & the food, & it shows. Our table of 5 (vegan & non-vegan alike) had one of our favorite meals of our trip here. Mango lassi, tikka masala, black chickpea curry, grandma's recipe... flavor, presentation, & atmosphere are on POINT. We'll absolutely be back!
Amazing place Amazing human (Abhishek) Could not believe how delicious the food was as a non-vegan! The jackfruit briyani had me completely fooled it was so flavorful. This place has THE BEST Thali in the city . The hibiscus drink was phenomenal too. The best part was the service & atmosphere. Abhishek truly has a gift. He was so welcoming & friendly & so outstanding & attentive. We will definitely be back!
I recently dined at Tula Restaurant & was truly impressed. The ambiance was warm & inviting, creating a perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The food was exceptional-each dish was beautifully presented & packed with flavor. It's a spot I'll definitely return to & recommend to others looking for a great dining experience.
What an amazing meal! Recommend getting the tasting menu to experience all the unique flavors.
Folks, the ratings given to this restaurant by the 1100+ reviewers before me are not an exaggeration. This is the spot. I've ordered & been to TULA quite a few times now, & it has become my favourite restaurant in the city. Montreal has so much amazing food, & TULA tops them all. Not only is the food some of the tastiest food you'll eat, but it's also super healthy. When you tell people you're vegan, the assumption is that you eat relatively healthy. But not so much when you eat out. Vegan does not equal healthy. TULA is delicious, vegan, healthy & totally unique. The owner, Abhishek, is also the nicest, most humble chef & host. He is very passionate about what he does & it shows in his food. He's also a strong supporter of other vegan chefs in the city, & his appreciation for those who directly provide for the vegan community was really sweet & refreshing. Rather than see each other as competition, I love that there's support between those chefs. Regarding the food, I've eaten at TULA for dinner mostly, but recently discovered they also served brunch, & both are delicious. For brunch, my partner & I tried the Bombay Sandwich & the Brunch Platter. The sandwich had multiple layers of greatness & texture. The platter had a few items from the brunch menu, all of which are interesting & different. Sambar, black chickpea salad, chutneys but best of all: the sweet potato porridge. I could have eaten buckets of that porridge. As for dinner food, so far I've tried the: - Koshimbir (isn't it so great when a salad isn't treated as an afterthought & menu-filler?) - Grandma's Special Coconut Curry (good lord, amazing, had it with the assorted veggies & vegan chicken) - Dal Tadka (love the flavor) - Jeera Matar Aloo (maybe I love cumin, this was delicious too) - Biryani with jackfruit (the vegan mint raita is glorious) - Tofu Bhurjee (awesome with the chapati) Food from TULA actually has a lot of real estate on my mind, & I absolutely will keep on returning to try food I've yet to have the chance to eat.
Are you kidding me? One of the best restaurants I've been to for fresh flavor. The tikka masala veg chicken is a must. I also had the chicken biryani & the pineapple salad was fresh & blended just right with greens, flowers, & tasty dressing. Whenever we are in Montreal, we will go here.
We've been searching for great Indian spots in Montreal & I think we found the one! & it just happens to be vegan which is a big plus. Abhishek, the owner was so kind & it's clear how much love & thought goes into every element of the restaurant. The dishes are well curated for both who enjoy spice (& I'm Indian) & milder but still yummy flavors. Offering dishes from all around India, Tula has a flavor profile for everyone. If you're Indian: they have a curry that's achar based that's amazing & got spice 🌶️ If you're vegetarian: the fake meat here is so well done (with non GMO soy ingredients) & marinated with flavors (which is hard to get right for fake meats) 🤤 * Note: because it's vegan, coconut based ingredients are often the substitute for dairy! I enjoy it but not everyone is a big fan of coconut so heads up!
We were 7 people including kids on vacation to Montréal & by the end of our trip vegetarians in our group were craving for good veg & pet bhar khana. TULA is the best restaurant we found & the food the fantastic with a twist to Indian flavors. Highly recommended Indian restaurant & trust me you will not be disappointed.
Unbelievably good experience at Tula tonight. Every dish was exceptional. The presentation & flavors of the cocktails were gorgeous & unique. We enjoyed dinner so much that we had to bring dessert home for later. 12 year old son said this was one of the best dinners he's had, & was an incredible meatless Monday treat meal. Service was an absolute delight - beautifully kind & warm energy, with attention to detail. We'd give 6 stars if we could.
Wow what an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed the brunch platter & it was a celebration of flavors! Owned by such passionate & kind people! We will be back for lunch & dinner to try more!
This restaurant is an absolute gem! My partner & I are Vegan chefs, so it is rare to love every item we order. I can say with confidence that everything was absolutely delicious! We had Grandma's Special Coconut Curry with was very comforting & flavorful, Jackfruit Biryani which was amazing paired with the green sauce & all other curries, the Goan Jackfruit Curry which had the best sauce in my opinion, & lastly the Special Mushroom Poutine. This poutine is the best vegan poutine in the city, we've tried them all! The fries are perfectly crispy outside & soft inside with lots of flavor. The sauce was served on the side so you can decide to to dip & keep your fries crispy, or pour overtop for a classic poutine. That sauce was fantastic, too! The 2 Mango Lassi were perfect, too. The service here was amazing. The owner is extremely kind & passionate about his restaurant & answered all questions with kindness. Brenda was also very kind & helpful. I don't think we could have had a better experience, the full staff went above & beyond even clearing a table by the window so we can have better seats for when the food would come. 10/10 recommend.
Beautiful, healthy, nutritious, & vibrant plant-based food with lots of flavor! This is my new favorite restaurant in Montreal. The food is so good, it made me want to move here just to be closer. The vibes? Immaculate. Definitely recommend! So, picture this: I've been road-tripping from New York, & after four days, I desperately needed some good & comforting food. We always go for Indian cuisine, but this place? Totally next-level. Owner Mr. Abbe is a gem. We rolled in late, practically when they were about to flip the'Closed' sign, but he welcomed us with open arms the man even tweaked an ingredient just for us. Talk about VIP treatment! The food was on point-clean, flavorful, & super satisfying. None of that post-meal regret either; we left with very happy stomachs. If you're in Montreal, do yourself a favor & eat here. Seriously, your taste buds will thank you & this indian food will be next level for you to compare all other indian food against it.
