I'm glad we experienced it in the beginning of our trip so we could go back a second time:) The flavors in both meals were fantastic & the service was very friendly & welcoming. When we visit Montreal again we will definitely be dining at Tula!
Had an incredible experience at Tula Restaurant in Montreal! The owner was warm, friendly, & genuinely passionate - he personally walked us through each dish & its ingredients, which made the meal even more enjoyable. We ordered the lunch thali, & every single item was bursting with flavor & beautifully balanced. The presentation, aroma, & variety made it a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic & delicious Indian food served with heart.
First time there, the owner made us feel very welcome & the ambiance inside the restaurant was calm & quite appeasing. The food was very flavorful, I ordered the degustation menu which gave me a chance to try numerous of their dishes at once, highly recommend !
probably the best indian food ive ever had in my life... & it was all vegan?! unreal. got a whole overview of the menu & crowd favs from the staff before i ordered & still couldnt decide because everything looked so good. ended up getting the butter chicken & ragda pattice, which were both excellent!! i couldnt recommend this place more. kind people working here & incredibly flavorful & delicious food. dont miss out on this one!
Wonderful restaurant. The food is flavorful, delicious, & healthy. I had the lunch thali, which was a great way to try lots of different things. The mango coconut lassi was also amazing. Very friendly service as well.
This was my favorite meal in Montreal! The owner, Abhi (I hope I spelled it correctly!) who was also the host, was amazing. His passion for the food that he served (& also other restaurants in the area & in the U.S.) was infectious! He made the experience pleasant & fun & we enjoyed talking to him.
& I didn't even mention the food which was excellent. We ordered the brunch platter & another dish & both were flavorful & tasty. We also ordered dessert & chai which were so good.
Highly recommended!!!

A true gem for vegan food lovers!
TULA - Les repas végétaliens équilibrés is an absolute delight. Every dish feels fresh, thoughtfully prepared, & beautifully balanced. You can truly taste the love & creativity in their recipes - each meal is not just healthy but incredibly flavorful & satisfying.
The atmosphere is calm & welcoming, perfect for both a relaxed meal or a quick, nourishing bite. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable, always happy to explain the menu & make great recommendations.
Whether you're a long-time vegan or just exploring plant-based eating, TULA makes you fall in love with the idea that healthy food can also be deeply delicious. A must-visit spot that makes eating clean feel joyful! 🌿💚
Tula was an absolute delight. The restaurant opens for dinner at 5pm & we got there between 5:15 & 5:30; we were the first patrons. The restaurant was packed by 6:30 & we also saw many take out orders. We learned later that the owner & chef/menu creator himself follows a gluten free & vegan diet. This made sense as the menu was 100% vegan & 99% gluten free.
We started with masala chai, which hit the spot after a long day. The chai was served in a little matki (clay pot) & was aromatic.
For our appetizer we ordered the ragda patties, a street food. It was served in a small copper skillet. The dish was made very well with authentic flavors throughout. The potato patties were topped with the ragda (chickpea gravy) & garnished with sev (thin fried crispy noodles made from gram flour) & the traditional green/coriander & sweet/tamrind chutneys. Every bite had flavor. It's a big dish & perfect to share.
For our entree we split two dishes. We ordered the tofu tikka masala & jeera aloo mutter with two rotis (1 regular & 1 gluten free). The tofu tikka masala was seriously comforting. The dish tasted like it was homemade, was packed with flavor from simple ingredients & earthy spices. The jeera aloo mutter is a dry dish & mild. For us it worked well to use the gravy from the tofu tikka masala with the jeera aloo mutter. A simple dish, but very comforting. We were thoroughly impressed with the GF roti! The texture & taste were exactly like regular wheat roti…compliments to the chef for nailing it!
& finally for dessert we ordered what Chef Abhishek called a beautiful choice. The gulkand panna cotta. The flavors of this dessert are inspired by paan. Oh my god, this dessert really was insane. It captured the flavors & textures of paan without being overly bearing on either. The shredded coconut atop the panna cotta was'the icing on the cake.'
We chatted with Chef Abhishek to learn more about his inspiration & compliment him on his restaurant & menu. We learned that Tula means Balance in Sanskrit. He took everyone's orders & would take time to talk to all patrons.
This was an absolute gem. Chef Abhishek also shared his thoughts & execution for lunch/brunch. We wish we could have come back the following day to try out the lunch thali, which looks very unique/creative.
A lovely atmosphere with calming music & good ambience :) The staff are extremely nice & the food is incredible. All of the options are packed full with flavor but focus on whole, minimally processed ingredients that don't make you feel horrible. Can't wait to go back & try other menu items- a great neighbourhood find for us!!
In a city with no shortage of Indian cuisine, Tula stands in a class of its own. Abhi's menu is a thoughtful exploration of India's rich vegetarian heritage, artfully crafted to showcase the nuance & complexity of regional flavors. This is a departure from the familiar, offering a genuine taste of'satvik' tradition-food that is pure, balanced, & incredibly flavorful without being heavy. For those seeking an authentic & elevated Indian dining experience, I cannot recommend Tula highly enough.
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Tula, & what an experience it was! Every vegan dish was bursting with authentic Indian flavors, from the vibrant Snacks to the comforting Brunch Thali's. The mango lassi was creamy & refreshing, while the masala chai warmed the soul. But the real highlight was Abhishek-the most gracious host, whose warmth & world-class hospitality made us feel at home & turned a simple dinner into a celebration we'll never forget. A true hidden gem!
Highly recommended for vegan Indian cuisine! 🌱 The food is absolutely delicious & authentic, bursting with rich flavors. Manager Abi radiates positive energy. He takes the time to explain the menu carefully & ensures you find exactly what you'll love. The atmosphere is both relaxing & welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
The food here is AMAZING. We got delivery for our first time & it did not disappoint. My husbands family is from Punjab India so we definitely have a higher bar, the flavors were really on point, the Kheer with sweet potatoes was such a surprise, we will definitely eat here again when we come back! Don't miss it!
Tula was a highlight during our week stay in Montreal. The server was so kind & informative & the food was beyond delicious. The tasting platter at lunchtime is not to be missed, with so many beautiful aromas & flavors. The atmosphere is calm & inviting; Tula is an oasis in the city that we felt lucky to find!
We had an incredible dining experience that brought back so many memories of home. The jackfruit biryani was absolutely mind-blowing-easily the best biryani we've had in Montreal! The coconut curry was bursting with flavor & warmth-it tasted just like something made in a home kitchen, full of love & nostalgia.
A special shout-out to Abhishek, who was an exceptional host. Despite us arriving just 30 minutes before closing, he welcomed us with a big smile & made sure we felt right at home. He suggested the best dishes that could still be freshly prepared, & everything exceeded our expectations.
Highly recommended for anyone craving truly authentic Indian flavors. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
The food was absolutely delicious - every bite was full of flavor & clearly made with care. On top of that, the owner was incredibly well-spoken & welcoming, which added a personal touch to the whole experience. Overall, a great spot with excellent food & warm hospitality. Highly recommend!
Everything here is great, ambience is good, service amazing, food is top-notch. Love the energy the owner of the place carried. He is a true business man, warm & welcoming. He greeted every guest with same energy. I guess they have creatively curated the menu. Felt like trying everything on the menu. We didn't order many items as we already had food elsewhere but couldn't resist visiting the place. We ordered mango lassi , tofu kohliwada, gulkhand panacota. Our favorite is non-alcohol mango lassi, this is the first time I had lassi in my life & felt in love with it in my first sip. It had many hidden flavors & felt very refreshing. Tofu kohliwada was good, not greasy but felt it wasn't cooked well from inside. Dessert was good but felt the portion size could have been bigger for the price.
I would want to revisit the place again to try different items on the menu.
Best vegan Indian food. I've tried so far in Montreal.
Love that the food is Indian & Vegan. I was impressed by the flavor & presentation of the Biryani. It's the best I have ever tried. It was colorful, & delicious. All the food was served hot & fresh. The mango lassi & the papadams were excellent. The homemade tamarind chutney is absolutely delicious & so fresh. It was the best we ever had. The owner was a pleasure to talk to & is passionate & enthusiastic about veganism. He was very generous & didn't even charge us for the extra things we asked for. If we lived in Montreal, we would definitely come here more.
