The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. Although its name and décor have changed over time, the dining experience has always stayed consistent. The Keg’s focus has been, and continues to be, on providing exceptional service and quality food in a comfortable atmosphere for its guests.
Quality, comfort and value are three key ingredients that make The Keg experience unlike any other. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend. Classic cocktails, delicious appetizers, succulent seafood, and an outstanding wine list round out its classic menu. The Keg’s friendly and knowledgeable staff creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy, relax and be themselves. Whether you’re getting together with friends or celebrating with family, you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
Overall, The Keg is a solid choice for steak lovers, with many visits featuring flavorful, well cooked steaks, reliable sides, and attentive service in a warm, lively setting that suits celebrations as well as casual dinners; guests frequently praise the consistent quality, strong bar scene, and friendly staff, with several standout moments where staff went above and beyond. Some visits are affected by crowded rooms, noise, or slower service, and a few meals miss the mark on doneness or seasoning, leading to mixed experiences. Price can be a consideration, but many feel the value is fair for the steakhouse experience, and reservations are recommended at peak times.
High-end steakhouse that offers more affordable steak prices compared to 40 Westt while tasting the same. Service was really good & staff was friendly. Recommend the New York Striploin if you want a classic steak or the Prime Rib if you want to try a more rich & juicy, oven-roasted steak.
We were 3 couples out for dinner at the Keg in Fairview Pointe-Claire with a 6:15 reservation. My wife had noticed that there is a happy hour till 6pm so we contacted our party & suggested we arrive at 5:30 ish to take advantage of it. Upon arrival we were directed to the bar area. There were lots of empty tables around the bar but we were told that we could not sit there. You need to order food if you want to sit there. The bar stools were not ideal for a party of six. Keep in mind that we only needed the table for 45 minutes until we moved to the dining area. We insisted a bit & they finally went to get special permission from a manager who agreed that we could use a table. They made it look like they were doing us a favor for us to spend our money in their establishment. Go figure! What ever happened to the customer is king! I'm sure some MBA wrote the rules to maximize profits. He or she probably skipped the class on don't piss of the customer cuz they may not come back or worse, tell their friends to pick another restaurant. If this had been the only hiccup during the evening, we might have been willing to let it slide. But no, at 6:02, we asked our waitress to bring on the second round of our happy hour drinks. We were in for a rude awakening. The'rude' word ended up being rather appropriate. Our waitress said we missed the happy hour & it was too late. I responded with' you've got to be kidding me'. By now, it's 6:03 & she doubled down.'There nothing I can do' she quipped.'Why didn't you come around to let us know it was last call' as is customary. No response.'Had we known that, we would have ordered the 2 drinks at the same time' I chimed. This time, I did get a response;'you not allowed to do that'. The 6 of us were getting very hot under the collar. The evening was spoiled. So the Keg managed to attract us with a happy hour policy but then found a way to piss us off royally. We thought of all leaving but we decided that we would be punishing ourselves. After all, we were out to have a good time & we did not want a rude bar waitress & an unfriendly Keg policy to spoil our evening. It might be a while before we book a reservation at the Keg.

Went back today, celebrated our anniversary & couldn't ask for a better time. This time I gave 5 stars across the board, music volume was just right & we were able to have a conversation at the table. Calamari were outstanding, cooked to perfection. Prime rib was amazingly tender, lobster tail super tender only thing the rib tips, little dry. & finally we go to Marty, he was outstanding & on top of everything, thank you Marty, you made our 42nd wedding anniversary a wonderful celebration
The food was (Minimal) the plates were plain & lacked color & taste, it looked generic, the keg is now generic with the public not noticing how bad the food has become, I believe the keg is still riding on its former glory, it's sad because I really liked that place.

Fantastic experience at The Keg! Even though the food I ordered wasn't exactly my type, it was still cooked to perfection & absolutely delicious. The quality, service, & atmosphere made the whole visit awesome. Definitely deserving of 5 stars!

Wow! This was by far our best visit to The Keg! SANJAY our server was fantastic, professional & friendly , very impressive! That Brie entree was probably the best entree I've ever had, everthing else was top notch, steaks, salads, potatoes, veggies, escargot. We noticed amazing prices on food & drinks for happy hour between 4 & 6 or 9 & midnight. We will be back very soon for that!
My first time at this location. My brother & I had an early dinner. From the meet & greet, to the ensuing service - these ladies are gems💎. Had the crab cakes as appetizers - delicious. Also had the baseball steak with mashed potatoes - perfectly done, nicely juicy without being soggy. Thank you ladies for a perfect experience, September 9, 2025 - The man who needs a haircut 😉
Normally, I have a really good experience at the Keg West Island, but this time was different. We were a party of four. My wife ordered the double lobster tails, & I had the New York strip. Both of our plates came out later than the others.
My steak was good, but the waiter forgot to bring the garlic butter for the lobster. When I asked, he brought it out cold & solid. Instead of apologizing for forgetting (normally they bring it ahead of time so the small candle can do its work), he blamed it on the setup not being ideal.
Even worse, one of the lobster tails was fine, but the other was mushy with a completely off texture. What I've always appreciated at the Keg is the consistency of the dishes & the great service. Unfortunately, this time, both were lacking.
Located right next to Fairview, this Keg has a really nice ambiance. It is warm & inviting from the moment you walk in. The staff are welcoming & attentive, making the whole experience even better. Steaks are cooked perfectly, cocktails are spot on, & everything is consistent in quality. A great spot for dinner or drinks.
I highly recommend!
Quite disappointing experience, although our waiter was very efficient he was overwhelmed, looked like he was attending all the tables in the bar area. Our bread was served minutes before my main meal, had to ask for my sprite twice. Ordered the lobster roll, not too much flavor, salad was too garlicky for me, the fries were awful, tasted like McCain frozen fries. My partners dish was OK. So overall for a bill of over 200 dollars, mediocre experience. Use to be so much better.
The Keg is the Keg, nice meat, standard atmosphere as per all the restaurant of the chain.
This one has also a terrace, but the view is on the parking lot of the mall.
Friendly staff
