The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. Although its name and décor have changed over time, the dining experience has always stayed consistent. The Keg’s focus has been, and continues to be, on providing exceptional service and quality food in a comfortable atmosphere for its guests.
Quality, comfort and value are three key ingredients that make The Keg experience unlike any other. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend. Classic cocktails, delicious appetizers, succulent seafood, and an outstanding wine list round out its classic menu. The Keg’s friendly and knowledgeable staff creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy, relax and be themselves. Whether you’re getting together with friends or celebrating with family, you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
Overall, The Keg is a solid choice for steak lovers, with many visits featuring flavorful, well cooked steaks, reliable sides, and attentive service in a warm, lively setting that suits celebrations as well as casual dinners; guests frequently praise the consistent quality, strong bar scene, and friendly staff, with several standout moments where staff went above and beyond. Some visits are affected by crowded rooms, noise, or slower service, and a few meals miss the mark on doneness or seasoning, leading to mixed experiences. Price can be a consideration, but many feel the value is fair for the steakhouse experience, and reservations are recommended at peak times.
We had a very enjoyable evening at the Keg on January 5. Antony our waiter, was professional & provided great service. We had a small issue which was resolved quickly & efficiently by Marina. We are grateful to be able to go to any Keg restaurant & to feel secure about their gluten free choices. Thank you, Bernardo & Jacinta
Disappointing experience on the part of management . We were celebrating a special birthday on Friday. We were in the middle of having our starters when the power went out. Few minutes later we were asked to pay full price for our wines & unfinished starters. No olive branch offered. No incentive to come back.
Went to the Keg Point Claire had reservations for 8:15pm when waiter came to our table of 5 we were told they had ran out of two types of streak then decided to order the keg burger again was told they had ran out of that too very disappointing so then ordered the another type of streak medium/rare streak came Med so I returned it & waited while everyone in my group eat
Great experience for dinner during the week for 6:30 pm. Not too loud, & food was great. Prices have gone up, like every where , so be prepared if you want a great evening !

I was looking forward to the keg as it has a good reputation however the sirloin was tough the French fries were from frozen & my friends said the Caesar salad was terrible - I was hoping for an 8 out of 10 but only got a 5 - - lobster tails were good . I will not be returning to the keg
Well ...It was my 1st time at the KEG in Pointe Claire...& I thought I was eating in a Dungeon..A Dark almost setting...Service was okay...But the Food I ordered was not what I thought...The Prime Rib Was almost raw & difficult to Cut...& lots of Fat around it...Wasn't impressed...Sorry...Avoid it ..Take another Steak that can be cooked well done..
We were there with friends & reserved the bar side. It's a little loud but the vibe was very nice with the dark wood & lighting. Our waiter named Eyal was super friendly & was really very helpful in suggesting things. This young man is a true professional We had the bacon wrapped scallops & were really good. One had the onion soup. Really good & cheesy. 3 of us had the rib steak classic with mushrooms & double baked potato. This steak was insanely good. Seriously put it up against Gibbys or 40westt any day of the week. One of our friends had the shrimps. Really nice & large & she enjoyed immensely No room for dessert. Over all a really great experience
What can I say? It was a big disappointment. We were waiting quite long for our table. When we got our table, we had to wait very long for food. Then, the manager came out to apologize because one of the meals dropped on the floor & they had to redo a new one. By the time we got our food, it was barely the same quality. My onion soup was flat. It was as if there was no salt in the broth. Most of us ordered steaks & one ordered salmon. 2 out of 4 steaks were tasteless. The salmon was merely seared. I have been to this locations many time before & this time was not worth the money.
Firstly this review applies to every location around Canada as I've been to most of them at least once. I'm not into supporting chain restaurants but this one is my exception & this is why. As a business consultant who has worked in the foodservice & hospitality sector as a consultant I am always impressed when a company is doing it right & for the right reasons - this being 100% a great customer experience in order to own that customer for life (in marketing it's seen as lifetime customer value). I'm business in general, companies & restaurants alike spend a lot of money on marketing their brand & services & the smart ones think long-term. The keg does this like no other one I have seen in their market & very few in other especially chains & even privately owned operations. As I always educate CEO's & teams, it's not if a company is going to mess-up it's how the company manages the reaction to their errors that makes the the difference & directly effects the long-term value of a customer. Steaks are generally not always easy to be cooked to perfection & often & especially in non-steakhouses you (I) can't expect a steak to be cooked to my satisfaction - & not because I'm a foodie & amateur chef. So here why The Keg deserves man kudos. When an error occurs the entire staff are trained to monitor a customers reaction to their served food. They actually watch to make sure its patrons are enjoying their culinary expertise & not just the atmosphere. On many occasions I have experienced moments where my steak was not cooked to my request which is pink inside & Chicago (crispy) on the outside of my steak which is typically a Rib Steak. I have ordered New York strip but have had issues everywhere including The Keg & it's largely due that this is a less marbled steak & often can be more dry & less juicy. I've also had this with my roast beef (which is awesome when cooked right - though their "au jus" does need more flavourful improvement as it's a little bland). Every time anything should go wrong the server & manager always owns up to their error & will personally make you feel at ease & without worry. They will quickly deal with the remedy & when they return with your new meal, all the trimmings are fresh & hot & the steak (in my example) typically is spot on (unless it's a 24oz roast beef or New York strip which seems to be a challenge), which is why I stick to the Rib Steak. & then the manager will be at your side asking if you could take a bite in the center to be sure that it's to your (my) satisfaction & in the event it's not, which is rare, they will own it again & offer you a replacent without worry of time or meal just to make you happy. & they will expedite it too - how I don't know but they rapidly (within 5 minutes) will return to the table once again with a fresh new plate of food & see if it's to your liking. In addition to this they realize the impact this has on other members of the table & generally address them & find a way to compensate the disruption with some form of comps. & they have a rule, that if they get it wrong the second time you don't pay. Now, PLEASE don't abuse this as in my case I can tell it's wrong for me within a couple of bite max, & I've not eaten the sides so it's clear I'm not looking for a free meal deal. For me it's about eating a great steak an "if" something should go wrong - & rarely ever with a Rib Steak, they have my back & make sure I'm happy. This is why for steak I prefer The Keg hands down & why I've been a patron for decades & you should too. Side note, everything they make is delicious from the big fresh & juicy shrimp cocktail to their meaty & tender ribs, to their fish & chicken dishes - all fantastic & also excellent value for the money. Their sides are delicious & portions are generous & with the money, especially their wedge salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. & don't get me started with their amazing hot fresh baked sour dough bread. Go & eat there asap!
