We had a fantastic dinner on Saturday night & chose the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Every course was outstanding, with each dish thoughtfully paired with a unique wine. As someone who is gluten-free, I was more than accommodated-even when my dish differed, the wine pairing was adjusted accordingly. It was a great introduction to Québecois products, & we discovered several wines we wouldn't have otherwise known. Highly recommend this experience-we will definitely be back.
I have bookmarked this restaurant for a very long time & finally came here for a birthday celebration today.
The restaurant has a cozy décor & a lovely ambiance, enhanced by charming window shutters.
We ordered the following from the lunch menu:
Starters
• Guinea fowl rillettes, brioche bread, mint, cucumber, & peas - 18 -> just ok
• Chawanmushi (Japanese savory custard), Nordic shrimp, tapenade, & sea cucumber - 17 👎🏼 -> shouldn't use the word'custard' as it was just steamed egg. This dish is not my cup of tea though.
Main Courses
• Pan-seared trout, seasonal vegetables - 29 👍🏼👍🏼
• Pork belly with sweet cicely, white bean ragout, cranberries, pink pepper sauce - 26 👍🏼👍🏼
Dessert
- Blanc en soufflé, crémeux noisette, compotée de poire, chiffon citron 10 👍🏼
- Gâteau étagé au café, crème au mascarpone & chocolat 11👍🏼
Drink
A glass of white wine from Portugal, one latte & one cappuccino
We're not sure whether the kitchen was understaffed during lunch today, but the service was noticeably slow. It took approximately 30 minutes for the bread & butter to be served, & about an hour before the appetizers arrived.
Overall, we enjoyed both the food (except the appetisers) & the drinks. The small birthday gesture (two chocolate truffles) was a thoughtful touch & appreciated.
My husband had diarrhea the entire night. We both became ill shortly after our meal. It hit me within 30 minutes of leaving & affected my husband about an hour later, continuing through the evening.
As we shared all dishes & this was our first meal of the day, with no food allergies, it strongly suggests that the issue may have been related to something consumed at the restaurant…

We've dined at this restaurant over five times, & it used to be one of our favourites. Sadly, after our most recent visit, we can no longer say that.
The portions have noticeably shrunk, & what was once a generous experience now feels nickel-&-dimed-being charged for extra bread was disappointing. The wine pairing, which in the past included a sommelier's thoughtful insight, was this time handled by our server, who clearly lacked the expertise to guide us through our wine pairing.
The most alarming moment came toward the end of our meal when we saw a mouse running around the dining area. That completely ruined what was already a lacklustre experience.
We spent over $400 for two people, left hungry, & ended the night feeling uncomfortable & disgusted. This place is no longer what it used to be-& unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
The cocktail tasted like cranberry juice. Wine & cheese were amazing.
Appetizers (mushroom cavatelli & tomatoes) were fantastic as well as the tomato gazpacho with shrimp & bread.
The entrees were severely disappointing! Halibut was nice quality but the dish in general was nothing I would brag about. The guinea fowl was not desirable & we left half of the dish.
Dessert was forgettable.
Such a shame to spend $ for disappointment.
Waitress, waiter, & Sommelier all went the extra mile for tourists. Shown me the parking, help me avoid a ticket. & dine in perfect peace. Introduce all food & wines with enthusiasm.
Two of the scallops were giant size. Thus those didn't cook to perfection (IMHO). Scallops should be able to'stand tall straight' while still rare inside. Sorbet (Raspberry) too sour for my taste.
It's an amazing experience for the price. I would definitely re visit anytime I come back to visit Montreal.
I went with my partner for a dinner. Menu was 62$ per person, & drinks are 15$ each on average. normal prices for cocktails & good wine by the glass. Menu was somehow expensive for the quantity. Total with tax & tips: 280$. 2 menus, 3 glasses / pers.
Food : it was very nicely presented, but quantities are too small. we were both hungry after this 3 service menu. This is why i only put 3 stars. The tastes were balanced & dishes were nicely plated. It's a cuisine with local standard ingredients (though nicely chosen).
Atmosphere: the restaurant room is way too cold, we both kept our jackets. Outside temperature was nice (maybe 25*C/77*F) when indoors it felt 19*C/66*F. this is not a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a dinner. Furthermore, not a nice approach considering the apparent commitment to respect the environment from ITHQ. this is why i put 2 stars
Would i go back ? Not sure. not in summer season as they blast A/C, & not sure as it's quite expensive for the quantity, even if ingredients are quite simple.

The entrees were delicious & two of the four plats principale were delicious (flétan excellent, canard dish was dry & very small. Our service was not great - lack of menu option information, slow service (large group behind us who arrived 1/2 hour later than us were served before us), we were asked twice for the wine selection by two different people, wine & water pouring was sloppy (stains on white table cloth), soup spoons provided for very elegant tiny dessert. All in all we were expecting more & price/value was not where it should be. One of the four people at our table frequents the ITHC & she in particular was disappointed based on previous experience.
I did not like wine pairings. First two whites too acid. Last tasted like cough syrup. Charging extra for bread is outrageous when bill was $380 for 2 people!
The service & location were great. The girl who served us was absolutely lovely. The main dish was the best course of the tasting, & the glass of red wine that we took with it was good as well. However, the other courses were a bit mid/nothing special: for example, the soup could've been amazing, but it was way too salty; the taste of the starters was disappointing & didn't stand out. The dessert was also too much & too sweet. These factors made the meal rather overpriced. Overall, it was a nice experience, but the food quality could definitely be improved.

1) Service is very good; staff are excellent in servicing (Frank particularly): 4.5-star
2) Quality of food to price ratio is poor: 2-star
3) The "wine paring' we opted to was a mistake. Every pairing was the last drop of the bottle end - not fresh; they also ran out of one of the wine & substituted it with not a good one: 2- star
4) the Maine coarse, the duck breast was ‘Un-edible'. It was very fibrous & chewy. We raised the concern to the services. The feedback was not good. He said the the ‘chef' new the duck was chewy & tried to slice it as thin as possible to make it "Edible". It was not; 2-stars
We are a repeated customer to the restaurant (& the hotel). This was a quit disappointing restaurant experience.
We ordered the tasting menu 6 courses + wine pairings for each course. It was a pleasant creative French cuisine experience at a reasonable price & excellent service! All the ingredients in the dishes & wine was introduced to us in details! Also love how the ingredients are all in-season fresh picks!
If there wasn't a wine pairing with the food, the whole food tasting would just be okay. Service was a bit slow but the food was delicious & complex & had great technique. Would definitely come back & try again. Especially for the wine!

We were three adults that had lunch at this restaurant on July 14, 2022. Everyone raved about their meal. The presentation of each dish was outstanding. The service was 5 stars. Very professional service. The wine, we had both red & white, was perfect.
An excellent evening, every dish was just right & full of subtle flavors. The wine chosen was also remarkable.
Yes, there are more expensive restaurants in the city & they are also very good. But I'ITHQ offers superb service, quite & soft ambiance & delicate touches from the home made bread to the espresso cups.
