Taste of Vietnam in Montreal, especially if you are looking for legitimate Broken Rice, this place has it, other places serve you jasmine rice or regular rice, which isn't Vietnamese version of Com Tam.
Also, they serve different broths for each type of protein such as Beef Pho, Chicken Pho, or Vegetables Pho. Usually one broth for all in other places, so kudos to the dedication of serving the Pho broths distinctively here!
We came in a big group so there was a bit of wait time for the food due to large orders, so that's totally normal.
Their BBH also amazing, hit the spot! You have extra sate & fried chilies flakes on the side for added kick!
Definitely come back for more.View more
After refining our orders & a quick lesson on the best ways to enjoy the variety of discrete components presented, we enjoyed our meals immensely. The food was presented beautifully - bowls of home-made broth with several kinds of pork, meatballs, eggs, fried rolls, pickles, noodles & copious amounts of fresh coriander, mint & lettuce. The owner & staff were very informative, lively & helpful. Vegetarian options are available & although none at our table sampled them, I can well imagine they are also wonderful. I will definitely be back for the spectacular combination of flavours & textures at Pho Anh.View more
Phenomenal pho. The broth is super flavorful & good amount of meat. Spring rolls with the fish sauce is excellent. Despite being a seasoned pho consumer, I learned some new techniques from the owner. He prepared a dipping sauce on our table (hoisin + fresh garlic + pickled jalapeno + chili oil) which was perfect to dip the meat in before each bite. Also my wife got an egg with her pho & the owner walked us through his preferred method in devouring it in one shot haha. Overall fantastic & we will be back!View more
I can't sleep because I am craving their shrimp spring rolls. Heavenly food!!! Their pho was also one of the best I've had in Montreal & I was happy to discover their broth was vegetarian. For such good quality the food was very affordable.View more
Absolutely loved this place! The pho was incredible - rich broth, fresh tender meat, & lots of delicious homemade pickled veggies. The spicy chili oil was a real treat too. Our server was so kind & even explained how to properly enjoy pho, which made the experience even better. Cozy, clean, & full of heart - highly recommendView more
Love this place! The Special Pho is huge & delicious. Very good broth. The pork chop is also great too. Nice flavor & very nice texturally, with a good sear & meat/fat ratio. We also loved their crispy chicken wings & shrimp spring rolls! The crispy chicken wings had an awesome breading (similar to Korean fried chicken) & the toasted peanuts gave it an extra crunch. The service here was also amazing. The woman serving the floor & tending to the back was a superstar. She was extremely helpful in explaining all the different dishes & helping us choose the right ones for us. This restaurant is worth your time! I would definitely come here again the next time I am in Montréal.
Edit: I had came back two days later & had the Bún bò Hu?. I highly recommend! It's the same consistency as the Special Pho broth but it has a much richer, deeper, meatier flavor. This would be good for you if you like to put a lot of condiments/flavors in your pho, as it is slightly spicier. I also had the Chè Thanh Nhi?t dessert & it was soooo good! I love the textures of the jellies & mung beans. It was a lovely end to my meal. I then got shrimp spring rolls to go just in case I had a midnight craving. I know they were good from last time.View more
Welcoming, homey, & extremely delicious food. I've had many bowls of pho having been raised in Vancouver, but this bowl of pho was the cleanest broth I've ever tasted. They make their meatballs in house - delicious! The owner & his kids (?) are super friendly & also English-speaking! Will be back next time I'm in town. ☺? thanks for a great first meal in Montreal!View more
What a lovely place! The food was delicious but the service was even better!
The owner took the time to show me the Vietnamese way to experience the dish, customising my pho to make it super traditional & was so proud of his food, which was delightful.
Told me i shouldn't need to add any condiments to my pho because he already seasons it well & it was absolutely true…best beef broth i've had so far.View more
Not kidding - best pho I've ever had & I'm coming from NYC! The pho itself is delicious, but the experience & history with the Anh, the owner, is what makes it perfect. He explained to us every step of how to enjoy the pho perfectly from how to eat the egg to when to put in each side (to have 4 different tastes!) This is as authentic as it can get, with broth cooking for days & ingredients coming directly from Vietnam - nothing frozen! The traditional Northern Vietnamese style makes this pho distinct & delicious. End your meal with a cup of Vietnamese coffee, a sweet & bitter combo that is the perfect last note. You must stop by if you can, you will not regret your experience!View more
Best pho I've had in a long time. The flavours in the broth are just awesome. & the owner came & mixed a special spicy sauce on the side. It was just delicious.View more
As a member of the table from New York mentioned in Kyrie's review, from the moment we entered this restaurant, my four friends & I knew we were in for a treat. Seeing this family owned business run with such incredibly excellent service gave us much confidence in the meal we were about to enjoy. As we sat down, we were met by the owner of the restaurant, who not only gave excellent advice on how to properly enjoy each dish, but was additionally incredibly personable & made our experience unbelievably fun. The food was out of this world. After enjoying the richest, most complex & enjoyable broth ever served with pho, we then rounded out our meal with the most immaculate, soothing iced Vietnamese coffee we had ever tasted. The food & drinks did not only taste delicious, but were additionally good for the soul. To top it all off, the ambiance was beautiful, & it was clear how much love was put into every meal. I truly can not recommend this place enough.View more
The BEST pho vegetarian broth we've had & the only veggie pho my husband cares to try again. We've been to many pho places around the world & this place blows it out of the water. The gentleman who served us is super passionate about his cooking & we taste the unique blend of flavors in his food.
My friends from out of town are also amazed & so is the table from New York next to us. Highly recommended!View more
I had the vegetarian special, the broth was really good, overall very good pho, & tasted fresh & satifying. Definitely coming back to try other items on the menuView more
Stopped in this morning on New Year's Eve! Let me tell you, very authentic, true to Vietnam taste & preparation! Two types of broth, one for beef & one for chicken. Both are very delicious. The summer rolls were amazing as well! Happy New Year Pho Anh!View more
The food was fresh & very tasty: I recommend the papaya salad, brisket pho, & coconut ice cream. The owner was really welcoming & explained he cooks the broth for 3 days.View more
Best pho place in Montreal! They make a different broth for every soup on the menu! Its super tasteful! Service is so good.View more
The owner makes his own pho broth & the meat is fresh & never frozen. Don't add anything to your pho, it's delicious as is. Best pho I've ever had!!View more
Finally A U T H E N T I C North Vietnam Pho. The best one ever so happy I discovered this place. The broth is fantastic & the chef made me a delicious bowl even I showed at closing time. So nice to see someone taking pride in his cooking. This is my new favorite place 🍜💛View more
The chicken pho was delicious! Very big portion, the noodles were thick & tasty, & the broth was refreshing. The chicken pieces were a little too fatty for my taste, but cooked perfectly. The lady that served me was very helpful & kind, & the vietnamese coffee was lovely!View more
I've had pho my whole life in many many places in Montréal & Toronto & thought I knew what pho was......until I stumbled on this gem. Everything is homemade down to the sauces & is hands down the best pho I've ever had. The broth is rich the meat is never frozen therefore tender & the homemade sauces are exquisite. This place is so good that it ruined all my other favorite places I thought I loved. On top of it all the waitress & the owner are absolute sweethearts & attentive. My wife & I will be back...many times. Thank you!View more
Great broth, staff was lovely, if I come back to Montreal this will be on my must visit list. Loved itView more
Wow....very clean, courteous service & exceptional pho. The broth that's perfectly seasoned & full of flavours, not like those salty & full of MSG like many places I have been to. This place is the keeper.View more
We sought out Pho Anh on a rainy miserable night, & were not disappointed. Service was excellent, the single server running hither & yon to look after everybody. She was cheerful, friendly, professional & so very sweet & kind. Our dinner was fantastic, & the pho took us back to our visits to Vietnam. Pho differs from region to region in Vietnam, so this pho is different than what we have in Vancouver, but it was fantastic! Very flavourful, courtesy of the high quality ingredients & the broth that cooks for three days. The pork & chicken & rice dish was equally excellent. One of the best Vietnamese restaurant experiences we have ever had, & we'd heartily recommend Pho Anh if you are in Montreal.View more
Quiet little Vietnamese place serving absolutely the BEST PHO EVER. I usually love the beef broth but the owner convinced me to try the chicken broth special they have going on right now. It is light, full of flavour & I honestly did not want to stop eating. I have no pics since the food was devoured the minute it came to my table. Will definitely be going back. Also a new winter favourite now.View more
The owner / cook was very proud of his pho broth, & for good reason! He made sure to check in with us & let us know that we were having the "real pho, so no bean sprouts, etc." & came again later on to ask how it was. Our answer: delicious! We also enjoyed the I highly recommend this place dessert, which reminded me a lot of Filipino halo-halo. Service was great, & the food was served fast. Would come here again.View more
Owner onsite & makes the food. His Pho is made over 3 days with just beef broth no chemicals or msg. We absolutely loved it. They also have pickled garlic that was outstanding you can add to it. I finished with a mango smoothie. I wish we found this one sooner.View more
I have tried many many Pho restaurants in Montreal, & Pho Anh has THE BEST beef pho in Montreal. The chef told me it takes him 3 days to make the beef broth & it shows !View more
Such a great find!! Pho broth was clear & packed with flavor. Not pictured but the egg yolk on the side eaten in the pho broth was divine!! Bot chien was also standout. Very crisp with a creamy center. Bun cha Hanoi was also delicious. Highly recommend this place!!View more
This is a hidden gem that deserves a lot more visits. Had dinner here right before the closing hour. I ordered B3, beef pho with brisket, beef slices, & the gelatinous connective tissues. With condiments at your hand, the pho is both bursting with flavors & fun to experiment with depending on your palette. According to the owner, who explained to me with great enthusiasm, the pho they make is of the north Vietnamese, notably Hanoi style. They make their broth 3 days in advance, with a lot of filtration such that the broth stays clear during the entire dining experience, & doesn't get muddy from the starch of the rice noodles. The different tissues & cuts of beef together with the broth will make you forget every "fake" pho you had in the past & be genuinely entertained by this bowl right in front of you. Will recommend to anyone visiting Montreal, especially on a rainy & exhausting day.View more
