Review Summary

Pho Anh is widely celebrated as a hidden gem in Montreal, offering an exceptionally authentic Vietnamese dining experience that many diners compare favorably to their travels in Vietnam. Guests frequently praise the scratch-made condiments, complex house-made broths, and high-quality ingredients, often highlighting the four-colour broken rice, various pho soups, and crispy wings as standout dishes. While the restaurant is modest and occasionally busy, resulting in varying service speeds, the staff and ownership are consistently described as passionate, warm, and highly informative, frequently taking the time to explain traditional eating methods. Despite some minor notes regarding seating capacity or occasional long wait times during peak hours, most visitors find the reasonable pricing and depth of flavor well worth the visit, making it a favorite destination for those seeking traditional, comforting, and high-quality Vietnamese cuisine.

Owner yaps a lot about the food quality & authenticity but it's buns. It's not good & most definitely not authentic Vietnamese food at all. The seasoning are way off & the dishes felt more like fusion between Viet cuisine & god knows what.
I got the c?m t?m & he said the right way to eat it was to sip the fish sauce instead of mixing it in the rice. As someone who was born & lived in Vietnam for most of my life, this was the first time someone told me I'm eating my food the wrong way. Maybe I'm not Vietnamese enough for this place lol.

THE BEST dining experience I've had in awhile thanks to the owner Anh!
We were visiting from Alberta & a group of 5 of us walked in after finding this place on a whim.
Anh came up to our table & started cracking jokes & creating conversation with us. He gave suggestions on what to order, talked about his families heritage in Vietnam, how he cooks his food, makes all his condiments from scratch etc.
When the food came out, he gave us an extra calamari no charge, stood table side & made us sauce mixtures from his condiments to dip our pho/meat into.

He was so open & kind saying that if we didn't like his food he would give us something else & take it off our bill. Well that didn't happen…
All the food here is SPECTACULAR. Fresh, hot, delicious. You can truly feel the love Anh puts into his food & the service he offers.
I was so upset leaving home for Alberta knowing I won't be able to eat here for awhile. But the next time I am in Montreal, I will be stopping by!

Unassuming & casual spot that will surprise you with how flavourful the food offerings are. Everything is very authentic, served with homemade sauces & toppings. Definitely recommend if you're looking for traditional vietnamese in a cozy environment.

Loved the pho! Very unique soup & wonderful sauce made in the house.

The soup is unique &'clean', the meats super tender & the homemade sauces on the table are very tasty. Nice variation to some of the more'westernized' pho in the city. The fried pork belly was a nice start to the meal as well. Ignore the renos & boarded up signs outside, go down the steps & try this spot. You will not regret it.

The food was good overall decent broth (7/10), but very mid meat (fatty/tough). The noodles are thick if you are used to the thinner ones - not a negative, just a note. They also don't provide chop suey or thai basil (update: the style pho that they serve does not usually have those condiments) but they do provide rarer condiments which is interesting (picked garlic, lemongrass sauce, etc). Their'fresh' chilis are frozen & not very spicy (they only bring one even when you ask for more).

Fast service, but not very friendly (not unfriendly though). The atmosphere is nice & quiet, with good spacing in between tables.

I'd say this is a must try restaurant when you are in Montreal. We went here on the first day we visited Montreal, it's kinda suprised me.

When we first saw the entrance, we were kind of hesitate as we confused if we went to the wrong place. However, after we enter the door, it's cozy & warm inside.

We ordered Saigon Crispy Wings in Savory Fish Sauce, Saigon Beef Meatball Noodle Soup, Saigon Four Color Steamed Broken Rice & Hà N?i Charbroiled Pork Vermicelli. Unfortunately, I didn't take many photos as I couldn't wait to eat, I was starving...

Saigon Beef Meatball is tasty, can feel that's homemade meatballs. Charbroiled pork chop & charbroiled chicken for Saigon Four Color Steamed Broken Rice were soft & juicy, but the rice was not enough for us. You might need to add rice if you have a good appetite. Hà N?i Charbroiled Pork Vermicelli was really good, the taste was something new to me.

I would recommend you to order Saigon Four Color Steamed Broken Rice & Hà N?i Charbroiled Pork Vermicelli if you visit them.

(Mon ami a acheté 2 pots)
