One of the best dining experiences I've had in Montreal so far. Creative tasty dishes, good service & atmosphere. Ordered four dishes for two of us & that's a bit too much. There would have been perfect.View more

Found this place in the Michelin Guide. We were told 2 dishes per person would be sufficient, so we ordered 4 dishes plus a focaccia (for 2 people). This order was split into a 2 course serving, both of which took a while to arrive. Unfortunately, all the dishes we ordered turned out to be very small (except for the black cod), so the focaccia was absolutely necessary. I feel they should have recommended 3 dishes per person, as I believe without the focaccia we would have left the restaurant hungry (we didn't take dessert). The quality of the food was great, but the overall experience didn't give me the'wow' factor.View more

The flavors were quite creative - definitely a fusion style that draws from different Asian cuisines. For example, the fried sea bass reminded me of Yunnan China-style grilled fish with a rich, flavorful sauce. The hamachi had a fresh, clean profile with elements like sashimi, shredded daikon, & citrus zest, very much inspired by Japanese cuisine. The risotto, on the other hand, leaned more toward Middle Eastern flavors, with yogurt & aromatic spices.
Each dish came with a surprising twist & thoughtful flavor combination. That said, portions were quite small & the space felt a bit cramped.View more

Mauvaise expérience de mon côté. Manque de consistance en cuisine & de soucis du détail. Les 4 plats partagés en entrée étaient bien, savoureux. Je me serais seulement attendu à avoir une burrata complète.
Pour les plats principaux, ma volaille n'était visiblement pas assez cuite. J'ai commandé le tartare à la place, qui avait très peu de saveurs. Le risotto avait un gout presque de macaroni au fromage (& était orange). Nous avons commandé deux assiettes de brochettes d'agneau, dont une est arrivée froide & sans menthe..?
Erreurs sur notre facture également à la fin. Nous avons été déçus de notre expérience.

Asked the waiter for gluten free options, she clarified if it was an intolerance or celiac, I said celiac. She came back 10 minutes later with a piece of paper with all the GF options written !! Whenever they brought the food they specified which dishes were GF & which weren't. Great experience ! Amazing foodView more

Cuisine délicieuse, & service parfait. Mes compliments au chef qui a su nous surprendre avec le délicieux amuse-buche à l'huître & poisson, mais aussi les aubergines relevées à l'harissa & enfin ce tartare de boeuf très umami avec des champignons qui semblaient marinés. Tout était excellent ! Le service aussi était super, avec des personnes très souriantes. Le vin & le coktail aussi était très bon. Je recommande fortement ce restaurant.View more

Attention, une table au centre vis à vis la porte est offerte & l'emplacement n'est pas très agréable.

Located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in the heart of Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles, Cadet is a vibrant & stylish restaurant that has earned its place among the Michelin-recommended gems of the city. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual & chic, making it ideal for a night out with friends or a pre-show dinner.
The menu features a variety of refined tapas-style plates designed for sharing. The standout for us was the black cod (morue charbonnière)-incredibly tender, beautifully caramelized, & full of delicate flavor. Each dish we tried was thoughtfully presented, with excellent attention to balance & texture.
One of the highlights of the experience was the wine pairing. The selections were expertly matched to each course, enhancing the flavors without overpowering them. It's clear that great care goes into curating both the food & beverage offerings.
For dessert, the chocolate, caramel, & banana tart was simply unforgettable-rich & indulgent without being too heavy.
The service was warm, knowledgeable, & genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home while guiding us through the menu.

The food was OK. Not a fan of french cuisine so no suprise i wasnt a fan of this place. Invited my parents for their anniversary & they do like french food & they also found it just OK. Service was very good, quick, efficient & helpful. If you like french food, judging by the reviews, you'll be happy here, if you don't, then you probably wont.View more

First time in Montreal, found this little spot from some reddit reviews. My boyfriend & I were pleasantly surprised. Cute spots great food, & the servers were very nice & made sure that we knew what we were ordering (since things are in French), & made sure we felt welcomed. Definitely a recommendation for some fine dining French cuisine. Would come back.View more

Beautiful spot. We had read that the tables are a bit cramped so we chose to sit at the bar & it was the perfect choice. Lots of elbow room & fun to be up with the action.
We shared the hamachi, beef tartare, black cod & oyster mushrooms, as well as the chocolate tart. All but the hamachi were excellent - particularly the black cod & mushrooms. The hamachi was good, just not at the same level as the other dishes. Perhaps lacking a bit of zing for my taste.
The service was wonderful - attentive, helpful but not too much. The atmosphere is casual & elegant. You'd be as comfortable wearing jeans & a nice shirt as in business casual.
I've read others' negative comments about the size of dishes & have to disagree. We eat at sharing style restaurants quite often & found this to be very much in line -if not a bit more generous than many. Particularly with this level of culinary skill. Teh recommendation was for 4- 5 dishes between 2, & we were very content with just 4. We could have skipped dessert & been content but gave into the temptation & were glad we did!View more
