Extremely disappointing - not remotely worth the price

After reading the reviews & seeing the restaurant mentioned in the Michelin Guide, I came in expecting a high level of food & service. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Montreal.

The food was, quite honestly, terrible. Several of the sauces accompanying the dishes were poorly executed. For example, the pepper sauce served with the steak had clearly split, leaving you tasting almost nothing but oil. The zucchini was practically raw, simply grilled & served with a bland, tasteless sauce that added absolutely nothing to the dish.

The jerk wings were probably the biggest disappointment. I genuinely felt like I was being served something from a diner rather than a restaurant charging fine-dining prices. The presentation was also extremely underwhelming.

I could potentially overlook some of these issues if the prices reflected the quality, but spending over $400 for a meal & leaving hungry because I could barely eat the food is completely unacceptable.

I've eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants, high-end fine-dining establishments, & very casual restaurants, so I'm certainly not expecting every meal to be a fine-dining experience. But when you charge prices at this level, there should be a level of execution & quality to justify them. Here, there simply wasn't.

What I find most surprising is how highly regarded this restaurant seems to be. Based on my experience, nothing - & I mean nothing - was good enough to justify the reputation or the price.

A very disappointing experience, & unfortunately one I would not recommend.

The food was wonderful. They recommend 2 dishes per person & it's all shareable which made it a great experience to try a a variety of dishes.

Every bite here is just a bomb of flavor & comfort. Really really good. Like, spooning up the remaining sauce on our plates & ripping the head off the fish carcass to dig out more bits.

Hands down THE best meals we had while in Montreal. (I came several times & often after leaving more expensive less satisfying restaurants)

& that's before getting to the stellar wine/drink menu, replete with GOOD non alcoholic options. Wonderful curation of nerdy, interesting & TASTY wines.

Special shoutout to our phenomenal dreadlocked server who had a way of explaining the food/menu/drinks & checking in that didn't feel overbearing, too wordy, or awkward... just kind & attentive.

Recommended: cod croquette, broccoli & spatzle, whole fried fish, & the miso black food

Excellent food. Creative menu. I believe it was Michelin recommended.
Right next to Saint-Laurent metro. Casual vibe but great also for special occasions.
Staff is very nice. It's fun to sit by the window & watch people walk outside. The bar seating seems comfy as well.
Only comment is that it was on the pricier side for what you get. We did not mind & will be back for sure. They change the menu once in a while so its fun to try new dishes.
Big wine list as well.

Très bon repas dans ce restaurant, la cuisine est bien maîtrisé, je recommande, le prix reste cher , la salle est bruyante. Il est possible de se stationner mais payant seulement. Le restaurant est à côté du métro St Laurent.

Cadet is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Montreal. It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back because every meal feels exciting, thoughtful, & effortlessly delicious.

The atmosphere is cozy, vibrant, & intimate, making it perfect for a date night or an evening with friends. The staff are incredibly welcoming & knowledgeable, always offering great recommendations & making the experience feel personal.

The sharing plates are creative, beautifully presented, & packed with flavor. Every dish showcases seasonal ingredients & a level of craftsmanship that makes each bite memorable. It's the perfect place to explore new flavors while enjoying a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.

Cadet has mastered the balance between exceptional food, outstanding service, & a fun dining experience. It's one of those rare restaurants that consistently exceeds expectations, & I recommend it to anyone looking for one of the best dining experiences Montreal has to offer. Thank you

So so magically delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes & tried a couple of drinks each & every single one amazed. I will be thinking about that miso black cod FOREVER. I highly recommend getting the oysters, their house sauce pairs very well with them. The service was absolutely lovely & very accommodating. I docked a point for atmosphere just because it was a bit too loud at times. Well worth the visit!

Simply delicious- we ordered a variety of plates & shared them with 4 people, & definitely enjoyed it very much. Zucchinis super, beetroots superb, potatoes yummy, & last but not least chicken wings, dream of a dream, really recommend them. Plus some calamaris, which were excellent. Service was very attentive & nice, the atmosphere is fine & if you want to plan to go there, you should definitely do reservations. Plan ahead !!! Pricing for 4 people no alcohol around 185 Canadian $
