Everything here is great, ambience is good, service amazing, food is top-notch. Love the energy the owner of the place carried. He is a true business man, warm & welcoming. He greeted every guest with same energy. I guess they have creatively curated the menu. Felt like trying everything on the menu. We didn't order many items as we already had food elsewhere but couldn't resist visiting the place. We ordered mango lassi , tofu kohliwada, gulkhand panacota. Our favorite is non-alcohol mango lassi, this is the first time I had lassi in my life & felt in love with it in my first sip. It had many hidden flavors & felt very refreshing. Tofu kohliwada was good, not greasy but felt it wasn't cooked well from inside. Dessert was good but felt the portion size could have been bigger for the price.
I would want to revisit the place again to try different items on the menu.
Best vegan Indian food. I've tried so far in Montreal.
Love that the food is Indian & Vegan. I was impressed by the flavor & presentation of the Biryani. It's the best I have ever tried. It was colorful, & delicious. All the food was served hot & fresh. The mango lassi & the papadams were excellent. The homemade tamarind chutney is absolutely delicious & so fresh. It was the best we ever had. The owner was a pleasure to talk to & is passionate & enthusiastic about veganism. He was very generous & didn't even charge us for the extra things we asked for. If we lived in Montreal, we would definitely come here more.
I don't usually write long reviews, but this one definitely deserves it. Being from India- right from the capital, Delhi - I know what authentic Indian food tastes like. After living abroad for so many years, I've rarely come across Indian restaurants that truly hit the mark. I never walk in with high hopes anymore.
But TULA has cracked it. The authenticity, the creativity, the balance of flavors- everything was just on point. What blew me away even more? It's fully vegan, yet better than most traditional Indian food I've had at other places. The quality was top-notch.
We tried the Achari Tofu Masala, Biryani, & two desserts - & all I can say is: Incredible & soulful food.
I highly, highly recommend giving their food a try. This place is something special ❤?
As someone from India, I can confidently say this is one of the most authentic Indian dining experiences I've had outside the country-& the fact that it's entirely vegan makes it an even rarer & more special find. Every dish on the menu is crafted with incredible care & thought, perfectly balancing traditional Indian flavors with plant-based ingredients.
You can truly taste the depth of flavor & attention to detail in every bite-it reminded me of the home-cooked meals I grew up with. This isn't just a good vegan restaurant; it's an outstanding Indian restaurant, period. In fact, the vegan adaptations here raise the bar even for traditional Indian eateries.
If you're looking for genuine Indian food with all the warmth, spice, & soul-but plant-based-this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Hi everyone, I'm leaving a review here to encourage you to go explore the sunny dishes of Tula restaurant, a gem of an Indian Vegan restaurant on Saint Laurent right above Fairmount. I didn't know quite what to expect, & was enchanted by all of the depth of flavor, texture & deliciousness of all the dishes we tried.
Definitely try the Koshimbir salad, like a loaded coleslaw with a twist & a medley of tangy flavours & colours; cabbage, carrot, greens, pomegranates, mung beans/lentils, walnuts & a few edible flowers on top. So pretty & surprisingly hearty.
The vegan Tikka Masala with plant based'chicken' was so satisfying in flavor, colour & texture who would've known it was vegan. Just a delight in every bite.
Do not miss Grandma's Special Coconut Curry. It has everything in it to satisfy all of your taste buds, with beautiful fresh bright green peas, potatoes, plant-based protein & a golden yellow colour that warms your soul & leaves it glowing.
The Black Chickpea & Black-Eyed Pea Ghassi had just the right amount of warmth & was so tasty. So happy to have tried this unique dish. The Jeera rice was a perfect balance of cumin seeds & cilantro & the Chapatis were warm, soft & pillowy, so tasty & smelled good.. What is their secret?
Top it off with a tall glass of hibiscus & ginger, & you're good to go. The food was so clean, thoughtful, considered, packed some huge flavours & was wildly satisfying. Special thanks to Priyanka & Brenda for being such lovely hosts & for offering a fun & cohesive service. I can't wait to come back again to try more. Yay Tula!
Loved the food & the experience. It was packed on an early evening on a Sunday. Loved the Koshimbir & panna cotta, & I highly recommend it. Pleasantly surprised by the chapati, which was so much better than the roti you get at a general Indian restaurant. Grandma s Curry was flavorful. If you like more heat, ask for the hot sauce which is quite hot.
This was an amazing experience from the customer service to the delicious, flavorful food! We opted for the brunch platter, which Jasleen suggested & it was perfect. Jasleen was very helpful & passionate about the food. We will absolutely return!
We loved this restaurant so much. Every single item on the menu from mango lassi to vegan chicken to thali was flavorful & fresh. I couldn't believe everything was vegan & tasted so good (as most of the vegan places I've been to in the past have only had a few good items). The masala chai just sealed the deal after I devoured that yummy Thali. My 14 month old also went'mmmhhh' with every bite of the roti & tofu curry. I wish Abhishek (the owner) loads of good luck & success in expansion of his business & remain hopeful that he will consider bringing some of his vegan wisdom over the border to greater Boston area (we were visiting Montreal from here).
He is a very good host & paid attention to each & every one of his customers individually even though the restaurant is busy! He shared stories from his own life & listened to ours & made this experience so memorable that my son wouldn't want to leave his side lol.
Already looking forward to visiting Tula again when we do back to Montreal
The food service & atmosphere exceeded any vegan restaurant I've ever been to. Our server, Jaslin, was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu & ingredients, & her engaging personality made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Although the restaurant focuses on Punjabi cuisine, the creative twist in flavors made each dish feel fresh, original, & far more exciting than the typical fare, which often relies on just a handful of core spices. I tried the butter chicken & the rice pudding-both reimagined in a non-traditional way-& they were more flavorful & tantalizing than their classic counterparts. Plus, I was only in Montreal for one day to pick up my son from college, & this meal alone made the 7-hour drive from NYC completely worth it.
A Truly Authentic & Exceptional Dining Experience at Tula!
Tula Restaurant & Eatery delivered an absolutely wonderful experience in every aspect- from the food to the staff to the ambience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth & sincerity, making us feel right at home.
We started with the Ragda Pattice, a special from their menu, & it was nothing short of excellent- bursting with flavor & perfectly balanced in taste & texture. For our main courses, we opted for the Biryani with mixed vegetables & Dal Sambar style, both of which were prepared to perfection with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every bite reflected authentic culinary expertise, a rare find when searching for truly traditional flavors from this region of the world.
The staff at Tula went above & beyond to ensure our experience was as perfect as possible. Their happiness & sincerity were evident, adding to the already outstanding atmosphere.
I highly recommend Tula to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Montreal. This is a place where passion for food meets exceptional service. We will definitely be returning on our next visit. A well-deserved 5-star review!
Hats off to Tula!
This Indian restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm & inviting atmosphere sets the perfect tone for an amazing dining experience. The portions are generous, the flavors are rich, & every dish is cooked to perfection. The appetizers were a fantastic start-bursting with flavor & beautifully presented. But the real stars of the show? The biryani, tikka masala, & butter plant-based chicken. Each bite was packed with bold, aromatic spices that made it impossible to put my fork down. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding-friendly, attentive, & always ready with great recommendations. If you're craving authentic, delicious Indian cuisine, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!
Good food full of flavor. Tried the brunch menu as well as the lunch thali which was good but overpriced in my opinion. I will repeat occasionally but I am not vegan & tofu is an acquired taste. I personally don't like the taste of tofu at all. In fact even though majority Indians eat vegetarian food on a daily basis, Indians are not vegan. Dairy consumption in India is very high & eaten with almost every meal in some form. It would have been nice if the owner also had dairy based vegetarian options like paneer at least. Overall I would say good food but overpriced & the vegan menu is a limitation for Indians who do consume dairy (vegetarian restaurant would have been better) but I understand the restaurant is differentiating itself by being a vegan restaurant
Delicious plant based / vegan dishes. Healthy & so flavorful. The mocktails were very tasty & the service was on point.
I had the pleasure of dining at Tula recently, & it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is truly one-of-a-kind-elegant yet welcoming, with soft lighting & tasteful décor that creates a cozy yet refined vibe. Whether you're here for a casual dinner or a special occasion, the ambiance strikes the perfect balance between sophistication & comfort. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. As for the food, each dish was a delightful blend of flavors, fresh ingredients, & expert preparation. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything was beautifully presented & tasted just as good as it looked. If you're looking for a place that offers not only incredible food but also a memorable dining atmosphere, Tula is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!
Tula in Montreal is a must-try fusion restaurant, especially for its jackfruit biryani. This dish is best enjoyed after an hour, allowing the rice to absorb all the flavors, enhancing its taste. The owner, Abhishek Arun, is incredibly friendly & passionate about his food, making every visit special. The atmosphere is warm & inviting, perfect for enjoying their unique vegan offerings. Tula is truly a gem where everyone should experience the delightful blend of flavors & exceptional service
I recently dined at Tula restaurant, & it was an exceptional experience! This place boasts an outstanding menu with a wide variety of dishes. The Tikka masala & Biryani were standout choices, bursting with incredible flavors. & when it came to dessert, the payasam was a delightful treat. However, the Biryani was the highlight of my meal - an absolute must-try. I was so impressed with Tula that I couldn't resist returning for a second visit during my 3-day trip. This restaurant is a gem, & I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended!
Amazing Vegan Indian Food at Tula! I had the pleasure of dining at Tula, & it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The chef's passion for creating flavorful, plant-based Indian dishes truly shines through in every bite. I tried the thali, which was an amazing combination of different flavors & textures, all perfectly balanced. The achaari tofu was especially mouth-watering, with a delicious tangy marinade that was perfectly spiced. Even the salad, with its fresh ingredients & flavorful dressing, was a standout. But the real showstopper was the sweet potato pudding - it was out of this world! A must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant. I can't recommend Tula enough for anyone looking for delicious vegan Indian food. Will definitely be back!
I had the pleasure of dining at Tula with my wife twice during our stay in Montreal, & I must say, it exceeded our expectations both times. Tula offers a variety of healthy & flavorful vegan dishes that truly stand out. Their thali, in particular, is a must-try. It showcases an array of flavors from different regions of India, offering a rich & diverse culinary experience. Abhishek, took the time to explain each item included in the thali, which added a personal touch to our meal. What impressed us the most was how well-prepared the food was, with minimal oil, yet packed with flavor. It had a comforting, home-cooked feel, reminding us of traditional meals we've had back home. We also appreciated the ambiance & service, both of which made our visits even more enjoyable. Whether you're vegan or not, Tula is a great place to experience wholesome, satisfying food.
This vegan restaurant is a true standout, offering a wide range of flavorful options that are sure to impress. Abhishek, the owner, was very kind & took the time to thoroughly explain the menu to us. We decided to try the plant-based chicken tikka masala & vegetable biryani, & both dishes exceeded our expectations. The flavors were bold & authentic, with the perfect balance of spices. The food was so well-prepared, it was hard to believe it was entirely vegan. The warm atmosphere & attentive service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back for more.
