We heard about this restaurant from some of our coworkers from Montreal. Being from Halifax we do have a share of Italian restaurants but this was next level.
Our staff member was Kaila. She was absolutely amazing. Our whole family remarked how efficient, friendly, caring & timely she was. The restaurant was very busy while we were there & that usually means the staff doesn't have the time to attend the tables as often. Not the case here. Kaila was there for us the whole time within minutes to check how we were doing.
So that's the service, let's talk about food. Huge portions or fresh cooked apps & meals. You could tell the chefs & cooks take pride in the quality of food & presentation. I can say, for someone who has travelled to Italy, this was the best pasta I've ever had. Delicious! Can't wait to return. Thank you Kaila & cooking staff.Voir plus

I've been to Scarolies multiple times, & it never disappoints! Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, & the service is just as fantastic. The portions are huge, & the fresh baguette is unlimited-a rare & wonderful touch. It does get very busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality & Peter's exceptional service made for an outstanding experience.
We enjoyed pasta, pizza, salad, & a bottle of Pinot Noir, expertly recommended by our server. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, & beautifully prepared. A standout touch was their automatic plating of shared dishes, a rare & thoughtful service detail.

My family & I have visited eight countries, 30+ U.S. states, & countless restaurants around the world. Scarolies Pasta Emporium has been the most memorable experience thanks to their friendly staff who go the extra mile to their customers & their incredible food that I believe is the best Italian cuisine in the western hemisphere. We first went to Scarolies in the summer of 2023 & it was completely by fluke. It was late & they were getting ready to close but they sat us anyway (which is hard to come by in the U.S.) Our server was Indigo & we were immediately impressed by his captivating persona, literally by breaking bread. He executed expedient services, showed a genuine fondness of the job (including exploring opportunities in the U.S.), & was interested in getting to know us. We had the most memorable conversations with him that have stuck with us to this day. We decided to return to Canada the following summer, driving 9 hours to visit Montreal again with an intentional stop at Scarolies. Again, Indigo was our server & we couldn't of asked for a better experience. As for food, their bread is incredible - served hot & fresh with the full baguette! I highly recommend their fried calamari as an appetizer & the Penne alla Gigi for the main course.Voir plus

For lunch, we had a chicken Cesar salad & seafood salad. The cesar salad was missing bacon, & the chicken was unfortunately dry. There was a bit too much sauce, although it was very tasty with freshly grated parmesan on top. The seafood salad had a good portion of calamari, smoked salmon & shrimp. The calamari was perfectly cooked not rubbery at all but there was no additional sauce to dip it in. The salad was perfectly dressed with a light but delicious vinegarette. Both salads were enormous & we weren't able to eat more then half. They also bring a fresh baguette with oil & balsamic vinegar but the bread although very fresh, tasted plain & somewhat flavorless. The interior is VERY old but you can also day it adds to the charm. Service was super friendly & helpful. The price was good for the portions we got but it's not necessary to have such enormous portions for lunch.Voir plus

Been a while since I've been to an Italian restaurant as busy as this place, & a Wednesday no less. The atmosphere is loud, busy but fun. People laughing & having a great time that makes it feel like you're at a massive family dinner. The food was fantastic but be sure to come hungry, the portions are beyond most people's capacity to finish. The bread is fresh & the drinks are cold. Scarolies is our favourite Italian restaurant in Montreal. We've celebrated special occasions here or just shared wonderful meals with our families for the last 15+ years. The pasta is delicious, the portions are generous & the prices are reasonable, especially the table d'hôte. We also really enjoy the fresh baguette. Of all the dishes I've tried, my favourite dish is the Linguini with Giant Shrimps in a Brandy Rosé sauce & when I'm in the mood for something a bit spicy, I really like the Capelli di Angelo alla Diablo dish. We had a lovely dinner at Scarolies this evening which never disappoints! We arrived without a reservation at 5:15pm & were seated right away. (Party of 2) We were greeted most promptly by Gabriel our waiter with water & their famous all you can eat fresh baguette (it was literally steaming). Gabriel made our night! He was so kind & courteous. We never felt rushed but always felt attended to. He was so pleasant to deal with. We shared a cesar salad to start & then had the Penne Gigi & Tortellini Rosé as our mains. The food & portion sizes are well worth the price point. Everything was so delicious & we even took home lunch for the next day. We finished with a classic tiramisu to share & that was also mouthwatering. What's more, halfway through our meal we noticed the Maître D doing his rounds & checking in on diners to see how their experience was going. This is so rare to see these days, we were delighted by this extra care shown by management. We told him that we appreciated the checkin & love that the restaurant is always so consistent. A true staple in the West Island. I can't stress enough how good we felt leaving there. Money well spent with the best service we've received in a long time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! A++++Voir plus

I've dine here a few years ago & the experience was pleasant, food was delicious. Love the variety & ambiance. I think few restaurants nowadays have that inviting, comforting feel & decor. Many new restaurants have rather minimalistic, cold, straight & boring modern decor. Scarolies kind of has that old charm italian garden, complete with waterfall & plants/vines. My most recent experience was on Saturday March 9, 2024 around 1pm. I ordered take out, just one plate of spaghetti carbonara. The restaurant was moderately busy but they were able to prepare my order quickly while I waited near the entrance - there are comfortable seats & enough room to wait. Very surprised that I got a whole complimentary baguette bread to take home & the portion size for my pasta was huge. Honestly so impressed with this meal! For the price, around 25$ + tax, it was well worth it, as it was enough food to feed at least 3 or 4 people. The hot & fresh bread is such as a nice touch. Would definitely recommend this place for comforting & delicious italian food - even the take out container was a good reusable plastic, no spillage or leaking, everything was so well prepared, it was amazing.Voir plus

Had an amazing experience! Loved the warm fresh bread with dipping oil to start the meal. Ordered meatballs for an appetizer, they were so tender & the red sauce was out of this world. Had dinner with a friend here last night. I live in Laval but love to eat here whenever I'm in the West Island. The service is really 5 stars. The attention & friendliness of all the staff really adds to the cozy ambiance. They also decorated for the holidays which added to the experience. The pasta comes fresh, delicious & piping hot. One of my favorite Italian restaurants on the Island. The service is excellent, the waiters & waitresses are always friendly & the athmosphere is nice & relaxed, great for families or dates. The food however is even better. Everything comes out fresh & I've not had a single bad dish there, the pasta is always incredibly flavorful & made better with freshly grated parmesan & black pepper. The calamari entree is the best one I've had yet. The servings are big & the prices are not cheap but well worth it. A must try if you're ever in the area.Voir plus

Scarolie's value is hard to beat - the food is consistently good & reasonably priced. Service is great. IF you are looking for a romantic spot, this is probably a little noisy as its so popular. Lamb rack is amazing, lamb chops also delicious, seafood pasta is full of seafood, plenty of salads & vegetables, fresh baked bread - portions are generous. When you want decent food & a good ambiance without breaking the bank, this is a good choice!
