Romies offers a lively Montreal dining experience with a warm, stylish vibe and a crowd that appreciates shareable plates, bold crudo and fried zucchini, and well executed mains like steak and pasta. The food is frequently described as delicious and flavorful with standout desserts such as the blackout cake, and cocktails and wine are also praised, as is the terrace and interior which create a welcoming atmosphere. Service is often attentive and friendly, though a number of reviews note inconsistent pacing and some slow moments, and prices are considered high for what is offered. Overall Romies is seen as a top pick for friends and celebrations, with many guests planning to return to enjoy the food and ambiance despite these drawbacks.
We had high expectations for Romies considering how much we love its team's other restaurant, Arthurs, but unfortunately they were not met on this evening.
On the positive side, the food was phenomenal (especially the burger, pasta, & blackout cake), & they have cultivated a really cool vibe through the design, open kitchen, bar, etc.
That said, what really let us down was the service. From the hop, our server was rude, dismissive, & barely checked in. Then, he brought the wrong bottle of wine to our table, which we politely corrected, & then he proceeded to place that $100 bottle on my friend's bill (perhaps hoping she would not notice?). Also, we were there for my birthday & to kick off the night's celebrations (which was noted on the reservation), & there was absolutely no acknowledgement - not even placing a candle in the slice of cake I ordered. Don't get me wrong, we were not expecting to be catered to by any means, but being a bit more welcoming overall would have gone a long way.
Pasta & chocolate cake are an absolute Must. Beef tartare & focaccia are delicious as well. We also ordered the BBQ ribs & burger which were pretty good & Cesar. Overall great experience!

I think my wife & I caught the restaurant on an off night. I went with the burger, & my wife took the pasta dish, which both looked great on Instagram. My burger was overcooked, dry, & tasteless, which included the bun falling apart into pieces right from the first bite. My wife's pasta had no flavour & was very acidic. Unfortunately, she vomited twice from the acidity & spent the night on the couch 🤷♂️. Word of advice: Instead of having the owner check in on his wife's dining experience every 2 mins, he probably should have been keeping a closer eye on the food the kitchen was pumping out (we sat right next to them).
Food was overall salty. I took the shrimp salad which was covered by sauce was ok & the fish to salty my friend took the pasta they said the meat was too salty in the pasta. Service was ok the server was nice but barely came we always had to ask for him to a point we had a friend in the restaurant we had to text him to come to us! At the beginning he took the order of only my friend & didn't bother to ask the rest of the table what we wanted
5 star all around. The vibe was immaculate, the food was fantastic & the service was attentive & personal. Been looking for a restaurant like this in Montreal & it definitely exceeded my expectations. The pasta alla zazzona & citrus fish starter were my favourite! The bartenders were knowledgeable & so fun to watch & cocktails were probably some of the best we've experienced ever (& we've travelled all over the world)👌 Do not skip on this restaurant!!!
Service was great, we went at 6pm on a Friday night & they weren't as busy yet so staff were very attentive & polite. We had the grilled peppers & cold fish to start, would recommend both, especially the grilled peppers as the flavours were more interesting. I had the pasta alla zonzzona which was delicious, my boyfriend had the bbq ribs. Good portion size for both. Fries were expensive($14) & I felt they were overcooked & we had a lot of short bits under the first layer of decent fries. We had the blackout choco cake to share which was more salty than sweet. I love desserts typically but personally I would skip this next time.
We went for a moms' dinner out to celebrate my friend's birthday. Great space & playlist. Everything we ate & drank was perfect. The best burger I have had because I love a good char, & the bun to be just right- Romies nailed it. Crispy bacon, the right melty cheese, perfect thin pickle slices. The clams were fab too - so fresh & delicious & the addition of tiny pasta was genius / plus the occasional crunch & nuttiness of hazelnuts made it next level. The side veg was a star dish in itself & we understood why it sells put at first bite. The corn & tomato salad highlighted the best of local summer corn & tomatoes & the creamy corn dressing & feta, onions & fried shallots. I could go back every day to try each of the tempting salads on the menu. Then there is the Brooklyn blackout cake. The whole dessert menu sounds dreamy but the BROOKLYN BLACKOUT CAKE with its Chocolate mousse frosting, cookie whipped cream & just a little crunch of flakey salt on top should not be missed / I don't care how full you are or if you don't usually like chocolate cake. Get it. Try it. Even if, like us, you can only eat one bite & have to take it home.

Best new place in the city! Food is outstanding. Great service from the entire team. Had the chance to grab the two last available seats at the bar. Had the tomatoe/corn salad & crudo for starters & for mains pasta alla zozzona & the clams. Amazing dinner!
Another hit from Raegan & Alex & team! Every item on the menu is excellent. We started with cocktails (Hugo Spritz & Espresso martini) - that were perfectly crafted. Catalina salad & fish crudo as starters- Crudo is a must-have! We were treated to the house focaccia (classic!), the roasted pepper with straciatella (a sleeper hit!) & a seasonal tomato salad with corn & feta (excellent). For mains- filet mignon (perfectly cooked), the pasta (must-have) & a side of fries. Blackout cake to end- cannot miss the dessert menu! Everything at Romies is excellent. Well thought out & well executed. Ambience is great. Service is excellent! 10/10 recommend
Our new favourite restaurant in Montreal. Amazing food & service. The ambiance is great as well. Nice restaurant & beautiful outside terrace. It was our first time dining there & we will definitely be back. We also met the chef & he was lovely & he recommended us stuff to try. We tried the focaccia, beef tartare, burger, pasta & chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was also very nice & took care of us during our time. They also provided me with a purse hanger as I had my purse on the table when I arrived. This little touch was very appreciated. I definitely recommend!
As a very selective with food autistic, there are not a lot of restaurants I can trust to serve exactly what they promise on the menu & on pictures. I tried the fries, ribs, pasta & dessert. I cannot express how happy I was when I finished my meal. Everything tasted delicious. The waiter, Tommy, was one of the most friendly server I've met in a while in Montreal. The restaurant is beautiful. Pictures don't really show how beautiful it is, you have to see it yourself. I'll be going back & I'll be happy to order everything I had today all over again. Romies is definitely on my list of trusted restaurants.
Wanted to try out this place as the patio looked amazing & they had many drink & food options. Unfortunately the day I went it was raining so our group got seated inside on separate tables as we were 9 people. We started off with drinks & cocktails which my coworkers seem to enjoy. We shared the focaccia, crudo, beef tartare & Spanish omelette as appetizers. My favourite was the crudo as it was so fresh, balanced & had a nice acidity from the citrus. The potato salad in the beef tartare threw us off a little as I wish there was more of a crunch element but it was still tasty. The Spanish omelette was also very good! The pickled veggies paired with it made it balanced. As for the mains, we ordered the charcoal grilled fish, the ribs & the pasta. The fish was by far our favourite! It was perfectly cooked & the grill taste was fantastic. Paired with deep fried eggplant medallions & peas. Yummy! The ribs were a bit dry & not fall off the bone so I would not recommend that. The pasta was ok but nothing special. For the desserts we ordered the choclate cake & Sunday. Both fantastic! The flaky sea salt on the cake was a nice addition! Service was also very good & the vibes were nice. Would come back again for the grilled fish & the crudo. However, for the price, it was a bit expensive so would only come on a special occasion.
Just Yum, in all senses. Food was amazing, perfect medium rare filet mignon, tomato salad of the day was everything I didn't know I wanted, pasta to die for. Chocolate cake 11/10. Terrace had a great vibe, a Montreal gem. A little disappointed they ran out of pie, but all the more reason so go back. I didn't catch our waitress' name but she was amazing. Super cool spot, great deco, great vibes. Don't skip it
I would absolutely recommend Romies to anyone. Food & service was fantastic. The pasta Carbanara was a huge hit for me as well as the decadent chocolate cake.
