Review Summary

Romies is described as a stylish, vibey spot in Old Montreal with a beautiful terrace that many reviews say is perfect for dates or celebrations. The service is often praised for being friendly and attentive, though a few experiences mention slow or inconsistent service, especially on busy nights. The food is generally regarded as delicious and well presented, with frequent highlights including fried zucchini, pasta alla zozzona, crudo, focaccia, rib eye, and a standout dessert scene featuring chocolate cake or blackout cake. Some readers feel the prices are high for the portions and value, and a number of dishes arrive not as hot as expected or can be a little heavy on richness. The ambiance, decor, and open kitchen vibe create a memorable experience that many say elevates the meal, though the noise level and crowds can be a downside for some. Across reviews, Romies is seen as a place with strong positives in food and atmosphere, and a willingness to return for the terrace, cocktails, and signature dishes, while the occasional critique centers on price, consistency and service during peak times.

Wanted to try out this place as the patio looked amazing & they had many drink & food options. Unfortunately the day I went it was raining so our group got seated inside on separate tables as we were 9 people. We started off with drinks & cocktails which my coworkers seem to enjoy. We shared the focaccia, crudo, beef tartare & Spanish omelette as appetizers. My favourite was the crudo as it was so fresh, balanced & had a nice acidity from the citrus. The potato salad in the beef tartare threw us off a little as I wish there was more of a crunch element but it was still tasty. The Spanish omelette was also very good! The pickled veggies paired with it made it balanced. As for the mains, we ordered the charcoal grilled fish, the ribs & the pasta. The fish was by far our favourite! It was perfectly cooked & the grill taste was fantastic. Paired with deep fried eggplant medallions & peas. Yummy! The ribs were a bit dry & not fall off the bone so I would not recommend that. The pasta was ok but nothing special. For the desserts we ordered the choclate cake & Sunday. Both fantastic! The flaky sea salt on the cake was a nice addition! Service was also very good & the vibes were nice. Would come back again for the grilled fish & the crudo. However, for the price, it was a bit expensive so would only come on a special occasion.

Romies has a stunning atmosphere & the drinks are top-notch, but the experience falls flat for the price. Being told upfront that we had a strict two-hour window before the next reservation was off-putting, especially when you're about to drop over $200. The entrees were disappointing; the Brutus salad tasted like it had store-bought dressing, & the beef tartare was bland. We ended up canceling our main dishes. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're just grabbing drinks, but it doesn't live up to the hype or the price tag.

Where to start?...excellent question. The restaurant is situated between montreal & the old port. As you're walking to the restaurant, On the outside it looks very ordinary, Nothing special... But wait..... When you get inside that's when it changes.. The interior of the restaurant is very inviting, very comfortable & you figure that's pretty much it... That's where you're wrong . Once you walk in & you look to your right. It's a beautiful open concept that looks like a totally different world. You feel like you're in another world, Beautiful tall trees, Strategically placed lights that go from tree to tree , giving it a great ambience But in reality your in between a few buildings , but they created a concept that you feel like you're in a different country. I have seen this type in Mexico.Let me tell you this is beautiful. Literally you feel like you're having a great meal in another country.... What a wonderful idea. I went to this restaurant not knowing what to expect. I was there celebrating my son's birthday. We were five people. We were greeted by a wonderful young man, by the name of Noah, who would be our host for the evening. He was a wonderful young man who who looked after us the whole evening ( we were there over 2 hours ) He was attentive, courteous & very cool. He did a wonderful job....no ,wrong word. He made us feel he was part of our evening....well done Noah... Food was delicious, dessert phenomenal & the drinks top notch. I will be back!! Thank you for a wonderful night... Recommendations 1-Make reservations 2-Pay for parking across the street It'll save you the headache looking ,21$
