Overall a great experience, the service was pleasant, Adam took good care of us & helped with some suggestions as well. The room had a very nice warm atmosphere & the food was great. I would highlight the fried zucchini & the steak. I've had better caesar's & fries but everything was yummy. You could tell the staff enjoyed providing a pleasant evening & they did a great job at doing so.
I went to Romies as a group for a celebration & the whole experience as a 5+ for all of us. We were welcomed with warm smiles, the atmosphere was busy & inviting, the service was quick & attentive & the food was delicious! We (all) can't wait to go back!
Question épineuse.
We dined here on a Sunday evening, & the ambiance alone is everything. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, but it doesn't stop there. Every dish we ordered was incredibly flavorful & perfectly balanced, we never thought zucchini chips could be that good! Our steaks were cooked to perfection, & the table was filled with constant'mmm's' & approving head nods all night long. We couldn't have been more satisfied with the entire experience.
Highly recommend dining here. We'd gladly drive from Toronto to Montreal just to enjoy this meal again!
Food was good, very pricey for what you get though. We also had to wait 30mins after our reservation time for a table which is never a good start.
Elevated american bistro. Simple menu with solid options. Love the interior.
Nice place with a good atmosphere. We had Beef tartare, Fried Courgette, Pasta alla Zozzona. My favourite was the beef tartare! So good!!
honestly don't write bad reviews often, but this experience deserves one.
I chose Romies because I liked the restaurant. I've been there before, enjoyed the food & the vibe, & trusted them enough to plan a surprise dinner for a special occasion. That was clearly a mistake.
I reached out well in advance to coordinate something very simple. I contacted them multiple times:
- via Instagram DM
- via email
- & even in person, where I explained everything clearly
Despite all of this, I received no response for over a week. No confirmation, no follow-up, nothing. Planning a surprise is already stressful, & being completely ignored by a restaurant you're trying to work with makes it unnecessarily frustrating.
What's worse is that even after explaining everything clearly - including very basic, low-effort requests - absolutely nothing was done. We specifically asked for candles on the table. This was mentioned more than once, through different channels, & even acknowledged in person. When we arrived?
No candles. No preparation. No effort.
The surprise was essentially ruined, not because the request was complicated, but because the restaurant simply did not care enough to follow through.
If you don't want to accommodate special occasions, that's fine - just say so. If you're too busy to respond, say that too. But ignoring messages, failing to communicate, & then completely dropping the ball on the day itself is unacceptable, especially from a place that presents itself as polished & attentive.
This was especially disappointing because I went out of my way to choose Romies out of loyalty. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt dismissed & overlooked.
Food & ambiance don't matter if the most basic level of professionalism is missing. If you're planning anything important, do yourself a favor & don't rely on this place to handle it.
I took the rest of my meal out & at home i found out that fries don't have good quality & i think drink was too pricey $$$
I ❤? atmosphere & staff were friendly.
Delicious food, great vibe & super attentive & friendly service. Will be back!
Honestly an okay restaurant. You pay for the location & the instagrammy atmosphere. Everything is good. But if you serve the same plate in another city, it would be okay & half the price.
Food is good but not outstanding. Atmosphere & service was amazing
We had an amazing experience at Romie's. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, & our waiter Frank was truly exceptional! attentive, friendly, & professional. We'll definitely be back!
I have read some mixed reviews prior coming to Romies but I still wanted to give it a try during my recent visit to Montréal. Overall I like their food but there were some improvements I would like to suggest.
They didn't really have a big menu, & if they have printed on the menu I would have expected they were available to order. When I tried to order the steamed clams main dish, our server told us it was not available. & that's the only thing they didn't have on that day. I understand but also disappointed, why couldn't they told us right from the beginning? Rather than spending 15 minutes deciding what to order & then only to figure out it's not available.
The food tasted good in general but some of the items were not hot enough in my opinion. The fried zucchini was just warm but not hot. & the NY striploin dish, the side dish hashbrown also just warm but I wish it could be more hot & crispy.
The Brooklyn blackout cake looked good but I actually enjoyed their butter pecan sundae more.
Portions small, service slow
But delicious, gorgeous, vibes 100000/10
The food was amazing & reasonably priced. The ambiance was very nice. I would give this 5 stars but the staff was unprofessional.
The host was talking to his colleague for 5 minutes before greeting me (I was standing in front just waiting for them to finish) & only gave one menu for a table of 7 people.
Would come back though
