Display Allnoodle(450) soup(126) beef(85) broth(81) spicy(40) recommend(39) rapide(37) bowl(35) busy(34) fresh(32) pulled(29) huge(28)Pretty good. Food portions were large & broth was not too salty. I wouldn't get the map xi noodles & they were too thin & hard to eat as they got soft & tangled up. Taste was great, & lots of noodles with the chili oil.
I wish we could give a higher rating. Especially since this is our second time back in Montreal ,
We were here last year from Boston, & we were in china town, we decided we would come back to try the fresh hand pulled noodles,
Today we stood in the line for 45 min, & were left feeling underwhelmed by the dishes & the choice.
Our table doesn't eat beef or pork, they don't have any chicken , so the veggie was the only option- the only real choice was the noodle thickness.
So this is just a lot of broth & a whole lot of noodles. Nothing by way of protein- with options such as tofu, seitan, fake meat, this just feels like such a let down.
& the veggies that were put were measly for the size of the bowl, 3 broccoli, 2 pieces of bok choi & few corn pieces.
The size is generous, but for water & noodles, I would say it is overcharged.
The broth, like others pointed out, is so mild & plain. It could be enjoyed if you like that but after enjoy hunan cuisine & Mala hot pot in Boston, we were lacking the flavors - there was only some chilli crisp & some vinegary sauce on the table. They wouldn't give us any soy sauce when we requested. They actually asked us to go down to the store (in their basement)to get the sauces we wanted.
I was amazed at that attitude.
I could have made the soup work with some flavoring, salt, some sauce, something. So that was a letdown.
We just sat there munching noodles & slurping on bland water the entire time.
For the wait time, lack of protein & for the flavor (or lack of it), it was a hard pass for us. Maybe the non-vegetarian folks have more luck at this place, I hope you guys do!
Because the noodles are fresh, & it needs a nice broth to shine in.
If you're coming to Boston, please try kungfu malatang in Brighton ! So many veggies & mushroom varieties- plus a fresh hunan chilly base makes for an amazing meal in the cold months.
Or any of the little q hot pot branches. They make an amazing pot of soup noodles
Service was decent. Atmosphere was okay. Food was good - great noodles, broth was okay. Nothing wowed me but I'd stop in again for a quick bite. Portion sizes were large & prices were reasonable.
Amazing noodles. I had the Lanzhou beef noodles-the broth was full of flavor, & the handmade noodles really made a difference, both in texture & overall taste. The egg was somewhat cold but still delicious, & the seaweed potato salad was a nice complement.
I was also surprised by the portion size. I ordered a medium bowl, & it was much more than expected-quite bountiful.
The only negative thing I could mention is the atmosphere. It feels cramped & a little messy, & the fact that I had to sit next to the washroom door didn't help.
The Lanzhou beef noodle soup was excellent. It's always fun to watch the guys hand pull the dough into long threads of noodles. The beef was tasty & the broth was so flavorful. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommended!
Staff ignore you when you walk in. Staff ignore you when you are ready to order. Seating feels cramped, dirty, dark. Food is mediocre; Broth is watered down & missing flavour, missing vegetables, missing meat. Which white tiktoker made this place popular 🤣
So I have passed by this place numerous times & finally had the chance to experience.
They have expanded the space which has reduced the line ups somewhat as they are still busy.
Tried the basic vegetable broth & vegetarian soup with thin noodles.
The broth was good but could have benefited from more umami flavour. It would have been beneficial to have some condiments on the table for those who may wish to add flavour or spice/heat. I won't go into examples as that's not the point as everyone has their own preferences.
The portion was significant as I ordered the medium size & shared with much left over. The fresh noodles were the absolute tree star of the dish & were near perfection.
Service is ok but the servers are busy running around to help everyone & as such, you're actually better off getting your own extra napkins or chip sticks etc. instead of waiting for a server. This does not seem to be the fault of the server as it's the fault of management understaffing the place.
Broth was extremely bland. I could have emptied a whole sachet of instant noodle seasoning into it & improved it 100%. Can't believe I paid money for it. Who are these people trying to fool?
Came here when I first got into Montreal since I was craving some noodle soup - this place certainly delivered! I ordered the spicy noodle soup, which I think was great on all fronts: noodles, broth, & beef were all excellent. While the shop is quite small, service is quite fast so you really aren't waiting around for long at all. If you're looking for a quick, no frills lunch/dinner in Chinatown, this is the place to do it.
It was fun watching them pull the noodles. I took a medium beef combo with tea egg & edamame with no 3 noodles. Tasty broth & beef.. there is a small market in the basement l..
The noodles are freshly made, the soup with beef was really good, they can definitely make the broth more flavorful, the portions are super big, & they are recommended 👌
Freshly made noodles, simple menu, tasty broth.
We tried this popular place for the first time in Feb 2025.
It is very busy & you can see them making the noddles by hand as you wait for a table.
Their menu is simple. It's either beef or pork with different types of noodles.
The dan dan was like an oriental spaghetti with a little kick of spice. We also had the beef bowl with thick #4 noodles.
I found the broth to be very tasty & beef tender but I found the noodles to be a bit chewy... i may try a different option next time.
All in all for the price it was a good lunch & the staff was polite & fast. I gave it 4 stars because I wasn't wowed by the meal I had but it was good.
Great place for freshly handmade noodles.
Well, I'm writing to say the reviews are, in fact, real. This is a great spot for soup & noodles. It says it all in the name. I had a great lunch here this past week, & I'd certainly recommend it to anyone looking for great food at a good value. The portion size was insane. But the meat was quite fatty; if you're into that, then order double meat, I guess. I don't love it super fatty, but the broth & the noodles were amazing. Also, the staff was super nice & the food came quickly. Just to note, they serve no alcohol there & they have a neat grocery store down the stairs in the restaurant.
He works hard & efficient. Makes great noodles. We are impressed. Broth drooling. Noodles drooling. Restaurant booming
Went to this shop on a whim, intended to try their famous braised beef tendon noodle but sold out. Opted for the traditional Lanzhou beef noodle, the noodle thickness to SanXi (thin), minimal spiciness (to adjust later if needed). It was good, the broth's clarity & the rich beef flavor attested its authenticity, the hand-pulled noodle had a unique texture of chewiness & smooth sets them apart from other types of noodles. They stowed the party of one along the wall, each facing it & the seating was tight, I had to slurp my noodles cautiously, ensuring I didn't splash the people seated next to me.
Tasty, heart warming soup with noodles. Highly recommend to reach there early before the place gets crowded at lunch & dinner times - wait time can be long (not fun during winters!) The broth always has the right level of spice & flavour ! After multiple visits there - each time I've walked out satisfied & wanting to go back again soon!
IMO, this place is over hyped. The 4 of us waited for almost an hour to be seated. Several times the waiters picked the people who were behind us & seated them first because they had fewer people in the party. So the wait time is very unpredictable. The food options are limited. You can pick from 6 different noodle styles but the broth options are pretty much ether beef or vegetable. & if you pick beef, you don't get any vegetables except for a few slices of scallions & some parsley. They use chili oil liberally &, as you go through the broth, the oil clogs the noodles making them greasy & unpleasant to eat. A little bok choy & bean sprouts would really help cut the greasiness. The beef & the broth itself were tasty & the portions are huge.
Sometimes food stops the hunger & sometimes food warms your soul. This place is what you need on a cold day in Montreal to bring you back to life & warm that soul. The broth is flavorful & the noodles are perfectly firm. During our week long trip in Canada this was my favorite meal & my two year old son's favorite as well. Chinatown in Montreal is underrated.
This is a super busy place. The noodles are fresh. The broth is a little bit generic & misses flavours. For a quick eat & run on a cold day, it is a good choice.
The fresh noodles & broth were excellent here! Ordered #1 combo & the egg for the combo was blah...I was expecting a soft goey inside & it was boiled, it was disappointing. The cucumber side dish on the other hand was delicious to pair with the noodles, so refreshing & seasoned well, so flavorful!
