Nama Omakase gave us an outstanding dining experience in an intimate & elevated atmosphere. The plating was beautiful with great attention to detail, & the ingredients were of very good quality.
The katsu eggplant we got was excellent. It had a crispy panko crust, a tender & juicy interior, & a delicious teriyaki miso sauce. The ora king tartare was also a highlight, with fresh high-quality salmon & nicely balanced flavors throughout. The duck & pear dish was another highlight, with perfect medium-rare meat, a rich & buttery foie gras, & a sauce that complemented the dish well.
The service throughout the evening was attentive & welcoming, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing dining experience!
We had a wonderful time & loved almost every aspect of our visit. The only downside was the food. It wasn't entirely bad, but quite a few of the dishes were surprisingly bland & really needed more flavor. That being said, everything else was so fantastic that it still made for a great experience overall.
I recently visited Nama Omakase + Sushi Restaurant in Montreal & left with mixed feelings.
There were definitely some highlights. The Ora King Tartare & Eggplant Katsu, served as cold & hot starters, were both excellent - flavorful, well-prepared, & easily the best part of the meal. The ambiance was also impressive, with a stylish & elevated atmosphere that set high expectations.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not fully match the price point. The restaurant was very cold inside, & even after mentioning it several times, nothing really changed. For a restaurant in this price range, comfort should be part of the overall experience.
The sashimi & nigiri were fine, but not particularly impressive considering the cost. We also ordered the Duck & Quince, & the duck was tough, which was disappointing for a $48 dish.
Another letdown was the service around our reservation. When booking, I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday & had a guest with us. At this level of dining, I expected at least a small gesture - even a little candy or dessert bite would have been appreciated. Instead, there was nothing except the bill.
Overall, the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance & a couple of standout dishes, but the experience felt inconsistent & did not fully justify the price.
Had a great experience here with their omakase menu.
Staff was very friendly & professional, they explained the menu in detail & asked for feedback.
The sushi was excellent, the variety was nice & the sushi rice was as good as I've ever had.
The wagyu bite we had as an extra was amazing. I also really enjoyed the dessert, a rice pudding with ice cream, really interesting flavor & textures.
Great selection of cocktails & wine by the glass.
I think you get good value for the money here, definitely a place to splurge. Highly recommended.
We were a group of 6 & had the $170 omakase course, & the experience was amazing from start to finish. The restaurant has a really nice, chill vibe with great music played at the perfect volume so we could actually have a conversation. Our waiter Felix & the manager Titouan were extremely nice & took the time to explain every dish & the optimal way to eat each one. Following their recommendation, we tried the TENMEI Junmai Hiire Orange Label sake, which had a very crisp taste & was incredibly smooth to sip on throughout the entire meal. Among the various dishes we were served, there were a few major highlights: the beef tartare was excellent on its own, but I highly recommend putting all the sides provided on the plate into the seaweed sheet for an unbelievable combination. The eggplant katsu was also delicious, especially when eaten simultaneously with the salad. We were served four different types of nigiri that were all unique in flavor & absolutely delicious. To top it all off, I had an espresso martini at the end of the course which went very well with the dessert. It was a fantastic meal with top-tier service.
More than excellent service !!! Really glad I gave it a shot ! The best sushi omakase spot ever !! Every dish was packed with so much flavor. Nama truly has an outstanding chef, very friendly & meticulous making sure every plate was up to satisfaction. Thank you !!!! Definitely adding this place in my regular rotation. Nice cozy place to impress a date.
Wonderful omakase experience. Fusion omakase with complex flavors & variety of fish, wagyu, duck…chef takes great pride in his dishes. Very tasty rice!
Excellent attentive service & great cocktails! We will be back for sure.
Had an incredible omakase experience here my first night in Montreal. The food was phenomenal, the flavors were interesting & varied with a strong French influence. The menu was well thought out & the drinks were delicious too. Only about half the menu was sushi, & all of the plates were conceived from the French/Japanese fusion, so this was not a traditional Japanese omakase which made for a unique tasting.
The service was wonderful, very friendly & efficient, & the atmosphere was calm & intimate. As a visitor to the city I could not have asked for a better evening.
We attended the 6pm seating on a Wednesday evening for Omakase dinner, & the experience was extraordinary! The Montreal-born Japanese trained Chef prepared 16 mouthwatering & sensational courses, each one expertly prepared & beautifully presented. The wine pairing consisted of two glasses of white wine, one of chilled saki, & one red wine which were served in perfect harmony with the flavors in each dish. To say that this experience was divine, could be an understatement.
Michelin-level service. The staff is friendly & professional.
I salute the chef's courage to deliver on such a unique omakase menu. The chef's knife work & rice technique are on point.
The interplay of textures & flavors was truly gratifying.
Great ambiance with sober decor & good music.
I'll be back.
