The service might be on Miami time, but the food is worth the wait. I mean, $25 french toast? It better be good, & trust me, they are damn good! This place is a magnet for Montreal's beautiful people - I saw more eye candy in two hours than I have in 20 years living here. If you're looking to brunch in style & rub elbows with the city's finest baddies, Marcus is your spot. Just remember, you're paying for the ambiance as much as the avocado toast!
I stopped in at this Restaurant for brunch with a friend & it was the perfect spot to go to. First of all, the space is gorgeous. I was lucky to go on a day where the weather was nice, so they had the windows open, letting in fresh air & a gentle breeze. Weirdly, at the far end of the restaurant by the windows, there seemed to be some water leaking from the planters, which was very weird. Other patrons at nearby tables also pointed it out to the manager, so it must be a new issue they're having. Aside from that one issue, the restaurant is beautiful. The attached lounge is also nice, but needs more frequent sweeps & service to maintain a polished appearance & avoid cups left over from previous guests & chairs not tucked in. As for the food, I got the Pancakes, which were delicious & lemon-y & rich, & the Blueberries were perfectly ripe. None were overly soft or mushy. I also got some bacon, which was fine, but nothing special. My friend got the French Toast which was decadent & crispy on the outside, warm & soft on the inside, a perfect taste. We also got the seasonal juice, which was something watermelon carrot, but I wasn't a fan of it, personally. Ultimately, this restaurant is on the pricier end of the spectrum but they more than make up for it with the quality & taste of their food. I will definitely go back & try other menu items! Do note their brunch is only on weekends.
Brunch Time Marcus in Montreal is a delightful spot for brunch, offering a fresh & flavorful menu that doesn't disappoint. The dishes are well-prepared, highlighting high-quality ingredients that burst with taste. The service is attentive & friendly, making you feel welcome & well-cared for throughout your meal. The ambiance is chic & inviting, perfect for a leisurely brunch with friends or family.
Great place to enjoy your drink, music & dance if you are in VIP section near DJ. Fancy design & great lighting inside. Also great for terrasse brunch in summertime 🤌🏽
Great restaurant for brunching on the weekend. Be sure to make a reservation first otherwise you won't be able to make it since it's quite popular. Anything that is related to brunch is really good, & for those of you who wants regular dishes you have a couple options too. Cocktails are also something to try there as they are really good!
Truly awful Montreal en lumière brunch experience. We had to wait for an hour because no one told us the special brunch didn't start until 11am when we made the 10am reservation. When the food finally did arrive the potatoes were cold. The rest of the set menu was raw vegetables, focaccia & donuts. Followed by an extremely hard ice cream ball. For 95$ forgive me if I was expecting a little more. Hard pass on ever coming back here again
Booked for Montreal en lumière brunch for 10am & was told on arriving that brunch would start at 11am for the special service. Our server told us the same thing happened the day before to other guests. We debated leaving but decided to sit & wait for the full hour. The first course was meat, eggs, potatoes, & toast. The quality was fine, but the potatoes were cold. The next few courses were raw veggies with olive oil, anchovy & onion toast, & & beignets. Dessert was frozen nougat rolled in pistachios. This was the most disappointing Montreal en lumière meal we have ever had, none of the dishes justified the $95 per person price tag. Our server was well meaning, but inattentive. We had to ask for more water, & at no point were we asked if we enjoyed the food, even though several things were sent back. Overall, a very disappointing experience, will not be back or recommend.
Beautiful open kitchen restaurant & lounge. Love the crystal drapery & stunning stone work on the bar & tables. Brunch was delicious with variety of omelettes options & mimosas.
Had gone for brunch with friends & ordered the lobster omlette. I was tasty, however I did find a couple pieces of shell in the filling.
This is a must go to spot while you're in Montreal. Rather it's dinner, late night drinks or brunch. Lobster omelette was incredible. This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been too. It's so open, with lots of greenery & modern. Management, servers & bartenders were all top notch. Would highly recommend going here.
Great food, & service was really fast. They had a good selection of items for brunch. Would try again.
Nous sommes venus pour un brunch & avons commandé la tour de fruits de mer en entrée. C'était délicieux & bien présenté. Les autres plats étaient bons mais ne nous ont pas marqués plus que ça. Le cadre par contre est très sympa & le service très bien
Went for a very special brunch with out of town friends.
Ambiance, something you would expect from a venue like this. Great. DJ playing some nice Sunday tunes. Welcomed by hostess who was great as well...
Then, we waited about 15-20 minutes before anyone came back to see us. We placed some drink orders, & that took another 15 minutes (we were a group of 6). The place wasn't busy at all, with APX 8-10 tables going. I do believe they may have been understaffed.
When we ordered food, that was an experience in itself.
2 out of the 6 dishes didn't show up & we had to remind the staff of the order.
Only the Wagyu burger ordered by one of us was decent & enjoyed. The rest of the food was incredibly low quality. Not something expected at the four seasons.
The table ordered
- lobster omelette & potatoes
- Wagyu burger
- regular Benny
- salmon benny
- oatmeal
- traditional breakfast
The oatmeal was terribly bland, seemed like just a bowl of Quaker. No garnish, no fruits, nothing
The Benny was terrible. The lox was full of spines, so clearly not processed properly. The bechamel sauce was clumpy & hard, like it had been made the day before.
Lobster omelette taste like nothing. No garnish, just an omelette. Potatoes were soggy.
Wagyu was the only thing ordered that was on the positive.
Later, we couldn't find anyone to pay our bill. We could have literally walked out & noone would have noticed. Had to get up to see the hostess after waiting about 20 min to get someone to bring the bill over.
This isn't my first time at Marcus, but since the previous times, I felt compelled to write a review because this was a highly disappointing experience. Thought it would be a good opportunity to show out of town friends a great venue like this but was let down & very apologetic to my friends. I know they won't be back for sure.
Came here for a birthday in what we thought would be the best brunch place in Montreal (decor, service & food). I had been here before for drinks & since I loved it, we thought we would try it for brunch.
The place is gorgeously decorated but the food & the service were bad. This is not typical of the four seasons. I think the first thing that should have been a red flag was that the waitress sat us down then ignored us for 45 minutes & we had to get up to get our own water. We then had to wait some more until we found someone to get us our hot drinks. Once those arrived, we were ignored even more & had to wait more time to order. The food that we received was just ok. The pancakes were the only dish we enjoyed. Now at the end, we just wanted to wrap things up but it was very hard to get anyone’s attention. There was an older lady working the floor who was kind enough to bring us water & get our waiter to prepare the bill. She was the highlight of our visit as she was very professional, sweet & hard working. This experience does not respect the typical high quality standards of the hotel & we are not too sure why the wait was so long, but because this experience was so unpleasant, we will not be returning for brunch.
