We booked the Chef's Counter experience & we were very impressed. From the attentive service from Luke & all the wait staff was perfect.
Every course was incredible with a beautiful presentation, detailed explanations, & friendly conversations with Chef Daniel. His team was organized, always smiling, & meticulous with every dish.
We highly recommend on a weeknight.
I've been to Marcus countless times over the years, easily over 50 visits. The food has always been outstanding, the atmosphere beautiful.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit left me completely disgusted. I personally witnessed wine from a bottle that had been purchased by one table being poured into another bottle, apparently to later be sold by the glass.
I immediately spoke to management & expressed how shocked & disappointed I was. What concerned me even more was that the response I received suggested this was a known issue that they were'trying to resolve' !!!
I struggle to see what benefit a server would gain from doing something like this on their own, which raises even more questions. As a loyal customer who has supported Marcus for years, seeing something like this firsthand has seriously damaged my trust.
It's particularly disappointing because the food & service have always been exceptional. I never expected to leave feeling this way about a restaurant I have enjoyed for so many years.
Marcus at the Four Seasons is where I'd go to find my future ex-wife if my drop-shipping empire took off - the kind of room where everyone looks like they just walked out of a casting call for HBO's The White Lotus. I saw more eye candy in two hours than I have in twenty Drake music videos. If you're looking to brunch in style & rub elbows with Montreal's finest baddies while pretending you didn't just check your bank account in the Uber on the way over, Marcus is IT.
Let us turn our attention to the cinnamon rolls, which appear innocently on the brunch dessert menu as if they are not about to commit a federal crime against your self-control. These are not cinnamon rolls. These are what would happen if Cinnabon went to finishing school in Paris, married into old money, & never looked back. Warm, glazed like a Brazzers movie, architecturally swirled, & so dangerously good that I genuinely considered asking if I could order a second round & pretend the first one never happened. Cinnabon built an empire on cinnamon rolls served in airport food courts next to a Taco Bell. Marcus serves theirs in a Four Seasons dining room overlooking Golden Square Mile alongside people who moisturize professionally. The gap is spiritual. You're paying for the ambiance as much as the avocado toast - but when the ambiance includes this food, this service, & this concentration of beautiful people per square foot, it's not a brunch, it's an investment in your self-esteem.
I went to Marcus at the Four Seasons Montréal for Christmas dinner with my mom, & overall it was a wonderful experience. The food & drinks were absolutely amazing. Everything looked incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, & thoughtfully executed. I'm usually not a mushroom person at all, but the truffle pasta was genuinely otherworldly. One of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave.
The ambiance felt festive yet elegant, & it made for a really special Christmas night with my mom.
The only downside was at the very start. Despite having a reservation, we were asked to wait over 30 minutes for our table, while it seemed that someone familiar with the staff, possibly a hotel regular or friend, was seated ahead of us. I understand that this kind of thing can happen in hospitality, especially in high-end hotels, but it did take away a bit from the Christmas spirit & excitement we walked in with.
That said, once seated, everything else truly delivered. I wouldn't let one moment of awkward customer service overshadow how excellent the food, drinks, & overall experience were. If the opportunity comes, I would definitely give it a second chance & go again, & I would still highly recommend Marcus as a standout spot in Montréal. 🫶🏻
I was reluctant to go to a 100+ restaurant with reviews of 3.9 & I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I understand now why there's poor reviews.
The food is simply nowhere near the price. Like not by a long shot.
The place is beautiful & the service is good. You're paying for the atmosphere, the view, & maybe there social aspect.
But make no mistake, you're not getting the gastronomic experience they're charging you for. & the portions are laughably small. That would be fine if it was a true gastronomic experience, but it's not.
It's the typical overly salty, lacking in depth & dimension, sub par fancy looking food that only looks good on the plate.
I'm sorry but that's the honest truth. These chefs either need to up their game or opt for a more humble enterprise cause this is just pretentiousness.
Marcus is a beautiful restaurant with a vibe - but that's what you're paying for. I've been multiple times & I hate to say, the food really isn't anything special. I had a lobster omelet that was decent but it was served with what seemed like plain square white bread. My husband had a wagyu beef burger that was overcooked & not terribly flavourful. The waiter was very nice & offered us a delicious cinnamon bun which was actually the best part.
Marcus Montréal truly delivers a high-end, chic experience. The atmosphere is sophisticated, the food exceptional, & every dish is beautifully presented & full of flavour. The cocktails are top-notch, perfectly crafted & balanced.
The service is outstanding, the staff & waitresses are welcoming, attentive, & professional, making you feel genuinely cared for. Their valet service is quick & efficient, adding to the overall seamless experience.
Yesss! It's a fancy restaurant & you pay a premium, but every detail, from the presentation to the service, makes it absolutely worth it.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for an elegant & memorable dining experience in Montréal.
