Overall, reviews highlight Lattuca Barbecue as a standout Texas style smokehouse with generous portions and deeply flavorful meats such as brisket, beef ribs, pulled pork and smoked chicken, often described as tender and juicy with sides like mac and cheese, beans and coleslaw that add to the experience. The atmosphere is noted to be welcoming and family friendly, and the staff is frequently praised for friendliness and attentiveness, giving the impression of an authentic and exciting dining scene. A few criticisms address inconsistent service, no menu or verbal menus, long waits, and high prices for what is offered, with occasional comments about sides being cold or a dish not living up to the hype. Despite these caveats, many reviews say the brisket and ribs are superb and that Lattuca Barbecue is a must try for BBQ lovers visiting Montreal, often earning repeat visits and strong recommendations.
We absolutely loved the food here! We got a shared plate with everything & it all melted in your mouth. The beans were fantastic as well & I'm not usually crazy about beans. Service was great as well, would definitely recommend!

Decent bbq considering limited options in Montreal but nothing to write home about. Took the sampler plate which was generous, best piece was the beef rib. Rest was OK at most (pulled pork, brisket, chicken). Sides were boring (beans, macNcheese, slaw - no cornbread , collard greens, etc...) Now for service, we sat outside & think the waitress forgot about us. Took forever to take our orders. Didn't clear the table when we were done. Asked for extra bbq sauce which never came. Restaurant was not packed at all. Not rude or anything, just not attentive. Overall, not a memorable experience.
Husband & I came here for dinner last night- overall, had a good experience. Food was really good, particularly the pork ribs & chicken (brisket was a bit dry). Beans were phenomenal- a pleasant surprise! Menu & service were a bit lackluster for a few reasons- their menu exists only on a blackboard in the restaurant that shows pricing for option of 1, 2 or 3 meats along with choice of sides. However, when we placed our order, it sounded like you can't order a 2 meat platter & just share between the two of us. The way the server explained it sounded like they charge based on # of person & quantity. We overheard one table settling their bill when we arrived & they were confused with the charges while another large group just got seated & they were also very confused with how pricing worked (server told them each person would have to pay $43 for a table of 6). Service was also quite a bit slow to take our drinks orders (we had been seated for abt 15 mins). Bottom line, would recommend the restaurant for their food but the ordering & service experience is a bit confusing/turn off.
Lattuca Barbecue is not to be missed when visiting Montréal. We found the restaurant when visiting a while ago. Now, when we visit the city, we plan our time around when we can have great barbecue. When you walk in to the restaurant there are exposed beams with tables, benches, & chairs. The center of the restaurant is where the barbecue is cut when ordered & placed on trays with the sides. The food is US Southern style with options including brisket, beef ribs, pulled pork, chicken. The sides are smoked baked beans, mac n' cheese, & coleslaw. The food is cooked to perfection; flavorfully amazing & absolutely worth going. A a lot of love & passion is put into the food & it shows. You will leave happy & full. Sitting down for dinner in the restaurant is relaxed & feels like returning home to have family dinner. Owner, John Lattuca, despite having a full house, always makes time to chat at length with his guests. Even though we only make it to Montréal once or twice a year, he always remembers us. It is like old friends continuing an endless conversation. Although you can go without reservations, I would recommend making a reservation.
Brisket! Third time we've been here. First time we came we ordered one of each item. But since then we just keep coming back for that amazing brisket & bbq beans. Highly recommended, even though it is a bit prizy!
Visiting Montreal from Australia & was craving some American BBQ. Lattuca did not disappoint. Decent servings of meat with multiple options. Side options included Coleslaw, smoked beans plus Mac n cheese. Worth the visit! Beers are cold, plenty of other drink options. Thanks for the great hospitality.

They changed the plate deal. Now you pay 35$ for underwhelming amounts of meat. I went 9 months ago & my plate was massive & worth it. This time the plate was half empty & just disappointing to look at, they improved the beans, at the expense of coleslaw (nasty) I won't return due to the greedflation
Best barbeque in Quebec! The most delicious pork & beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork & chicken. The meats are absolute show-stoppers & mouth-watering! You'll even be delighted by the sides - amazing Mac n cheese, beans & coleslaw. Fantastic & quick service too We absolutely love coming here! Hats off to the Chef!
Service was good, atmosphere was good for bbq pace, meat was mediocre. Beef rib was dry & portions were very small. Only good part of meal was beans, & that portion was too small too.

Beef brisket is one of my favourites when it comes to smoked meats/BBQ. The last time I was in Montreal pre pandemic in 2019, I visited Lattuca so I had to have it again during my visit in September 2023.
Somehow, it didn’t have the same deep smoky delicious flavour it had before but don’t get me wrong, it was ok, not bad, just a little drier than before (maybe a fluke this time? so I’m still giving it a higher rating 4* due to my good experience years ago).
The smoked beans were great & so was the coleslaw, not too sour. Can’t go wrong with their sides, pretty good.
I had the beef rib & pork ribs & the wife had the chicken & brisket. Sides were Mac n cheese, beans & coleslaw. Simply put, the BEST BBQ in Montreal! I’ve lived in FL & eaten BBQ across every state in the south including the famous Salt Lick BBQ in Austin,TX & I can assure you that this place is the real deal! 10/10
We ordered 2 plates, 2 cocktails, 2 soft drinks, & one side. It came out to about $130 all in. Very expensive IMO, but that could be just because it's a touristy area.
The sides available were
- baked beans, which were regular, with bbq sauce
- coleslaw, which more vinergary than creamy. I was a fan.
- mac & cheese, which tasted fine, but was a little grainy. Kids did not enjoy it
We chose chicken & brisket.
The chicken was super tender & flavourful, though I think for the price there prob should have been more.
The brisket was excellent. Amongst the best I've ever eaten.
Overall, pleasant, though expensive. I would return.
Le brisket & la cote de boeuf était absolument incroyable! La viande était extrêmement tendre & savoureuse. Meme les accompagnement, comme les « bean », était excellent. La service était bonne & rapide aussi. J'ai l'intention d'y retourner un jour!

As a South African my dream was to experience Texan Brisket.
Never have I ever thaught that I will experience it here in Montreal.
The first Brisket I tasted earlier today at a differenf restaurant was like normal cold meat.
The brisket & ribs at Latucca, was the best meat I have ever tasted!!!!
South Africans knows meat, but this is a bucket list experience !!!
Tender, juicy & amazingly tasty, together with the smoked beans & cabbage salad.
This is a bucket list visit you MUST experience if you enjoy meat !!!!!!!!!
Thank you John & your team! I wil never forget this experience an I will see you again!
In Afrikaans I can only say, " Dit was MOERSE lekker ! "
