Exquisitely romantic! The food was divine. The dumplings & scallops are a must try. The blondie dessert was sensational, I have never had such an amazing dessert at a Japanese restaurant before. The grilled calamari was lovely but I would not order it again.

My view was not very exciting. Should replace the wall of bookshelf to mirrors so guests can experience the ambience of the restaurant better.

Nous n'avons pas eu un bon service. Pas de sourire, pas de bonjour.
Il a faillit mettre de l'eau dans mon vin.
Le serveur était mêlé. N'est jamais venu nous offrir un dessert.
My husband & I came for a celebratory dinner for his birthday. The food was excellent the drinks as well. I loved that they had a lot of options when it came to me cal & tequila. However the service was slow & I was a little disappointed that they didn't mention any thing for his birthday, no birthday dessert nothing. There was a private event happening so I understand if that could have affected the service.
One of the most upscale neo-Sushi restaurants in Montreal, Jatoba offers an excellent selection of sushi & other seafood dishes with an Asian flare, in addition to some meat dishes. While the dishes are large enough for individuals they are not huge so I would feel that this would be a "shared dishes" restaurant good for larger groups. The ambiance matches the upscale menu with the restaurant sub-divided into different seating areas but with openings in the walls to give the sense of larger edifice. There is also a very nice garden area in the back to enjoy in warmer months.
For our meal, we had a large offering...Gyoza (very good), Spicky Salmon Maki (very good), Hamachi Maki (good), Jatoba Cod (very good & tasty), Chilean Sea Bass (Excellent...crispy & flavorful), regular Sea Bass (also very good), Star Anise Spare Ribs (excellent), Lamb Shank (on the special...wonderful), & two desserts (Cookies & Cream & Caramel Dream...both very good).
Service was excellent, friendly & prompt. Highly recommend a visit (although bring your cheque book). Enjoy!
NOTE: There is valet parking which is helpful as this area can be very difficult to find a spot.
Amazing food. Each dish was super tasty. We had the Lamb, seabass, lobster sushi, cauliflower & gyoza. All very delicious. The cocktails were also awesome. Will come back again to try the other dishes. Also, the dream caramel for dessert is so good.

It was just delicious!!!! I would go again tomorrow, it was that good!
The chicken dumpling, with the beef egg rolls a delight. & for the main I had the chicken & the ribs, both were amazing too. & the desserts are also very delicious. My fav is the caramel dream 😍 I recommand. Great staff, great service, we had a very very good service. Thank you!
I really recommand for a date or even a family, birthday or business diner. Quality food! ****update I went again one week later I kept thinking about their food🤤🤤🤤🤤 it was delicioussssss again I would go again ASAP!🤤 the service was impeccable again! Truly an amazing restaurant! Thank you!
A fantastic experience at this cozy restaurant. Delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, nice wine list & good dessert. The wait staff was very hospitable. I want to come back here again. I would recommend this restaurant for business or pleasure. It checks all the boxes for me.
So great. Beautiful interior & great service. The black cod was so delicious. I sent a text ahead of time asking for a surprise birthday candle in a dessert. I wasn't sure if the message would go through & they'd remember, but they did!! Thanks Jatoba
Ce restaurant est très joli. On y mange un repas des plus délicieux. Mais nous n'avons pas apprécié qu'à 20 heures on nous avertisse que nous avions 2 heures pour manger. Sous entendu faites vite pour le dessert. On ne nous avait pas averti du tout de cette limite de temps & nous commandions le dessert donc en toute évidence nous étions près de partir. On a quand même dépensé $1000. Je n'ai jamais vu ça dans ce genre de restaurant.

With rather small portions & dishes that are absolutely accessible for far more reasonable prices, this restaurant would need to offer an outstanding experience to meet the expectations that they set. Unfortunately, the service was barely adequate & far slower than even a very leisurely meal. We did not get to order dessert until 2 hours into our meal & it took another 15 minutes just to get the check. The food presentations are lovely. The dishes were slightly above average, except for the tuna maki that got praises, but the crab rolls were not enjoyed by anyone at the table.

when I made my reservation I had made it clear that it was for a birthday. I had even called the night of my reservation to remind Jatoba, & the hostess rudely explained that proper arrangements would be made when they brought dessert, & unfortunately the restaurant did nothing, which was very disappointing.
Outstanding experience for my son's 18th birthday. The service throughout was excellent; everyone was friendly, & our server was amazing- polished, professional & added a sparkler candle to my son's dessert without my prompting . The food was exquisite, & the rear indoor courtyard was lovely.
Loved the drinks, the food was delicious, fresh, served quickly, the service was great. The crepes dessert was not a hit for us. Average taste.
We had a pleasant evening.
