I came here for my anniversary with my boyfriend & it was incredibly special. I got the filet mignon & he got the salmon both of which were perfectly cooked & amazing. Our phenomenal server Kas recommended I get the mushroom sauce with my filet & I would definitely recommend. The meal comes with homemade pickles & bread to start, a salad, & a lemon sorbet pallet cleanser. When it was time for dessert, we were brought a whole cake for our anniversary & our server Kas took a polaroid photo of us which we will cherish for a long time. The night was just perfect, as was the food, & when I come back to Montréal I will absolutely be stopping at Gibby's again.

Great experience with perfectly cooked rib steak & a very knowledgable waiter (Rainer) who helped us make the right selection. Nice warm bread offered at the start & then some very good sorbet as a palette cleanser before the main. Cosy atmosphere inside & centrally located in the old town. Would recommend

Food was 5/5. The bread & pickles to start were excellent. My husband said the clam chowder was the best he has ever had. I ordered 3 lobster tail dinner with Monte Carlo potato & asparagus. My husband had the filet mignon & a lobster tail with the same sides. The monte carlo potato is excellent. Unfortunately we did not know you could get croutons or bacon on your salad as our server never asked if we wanted any. Nor did he offer us a second cocktail or check to see how our meal was. The service was a 3/5 at best. That is generous. It was unfortunate as the other server working the room that night was excellent. What a difference a server can make to your overall experience. We told her we wished she would have served us when we asked her for the bill as our server seemed to disappear.

**Gibby's: A Gastronomic Adventure for the Ages** My dear epicureans, let me regale you with an account of an evening that can only be described as a culinary odyssey. After a most disappointing rendezvous at Moishes two weeks prior, I ventured to Gibby's to restore my faith in the art of dining. Good God, man, what an experience it turned out to be! The evening began with a symphony of flavors-the Burrata, accompanied by the freshest peaches & tomatoes, was a delight to the senses. However, the bread was so hard, it could have doubled as a gargantuous monkey fist. But I digress. Next came the French onion soup, a masterpiece of rich broth & caramelized onions that danced upon the palate with perfection. Following this, the escargot, suggested with cheese by our knowledgeable server, was nothing short of phenomenal. Each bite transported me to the cobblestone streets of Paris. The wedge salad, adorned with blue cheese, was a crisp & refreshing prelude to the main course. & before we could delve into the heart of our meal, we were served a lemon sorbet-an exquisite palate cleanser, tart & invigorating. Ah, the pièce de résistance-the fillet mignon. Cooked to an impeccable medium-rare, it was a testament to the craftsmanship of Gibby's kitchen. The side orders, mushrooms that sang with umami & a Monte Carlo potato that was, unlike the oversalted catastrophe at Moishes, sheer perfection. In conclusion, Gibby's is a bastion of culinary excellence. Every dish, a story; every bite, a memory. For those seeking a dining experience that transcends the ordinary, look no further. As J. Peterman would say, this is not just a meal; it is an adventure for the soul.

I've been going to Gibby's for my birthday going on 8 years now. Unlike most other steakhouses, you get all the trimmings with your meal. I love this restaurant but since it was bought by another company, there are some minor differences that changed the experience for me. • they can only serve the pickles, bacon bits & bread once you place your food order. ( we were waiting for the rest of the party to order the food but had ordered drinks, we were kind of hungry so waiting wasn't fun) • the staff don't get their tips like they used to so it wasn't the nicest news to hear since they work hard. • the staff feel like their new uniforms are not as clean cut because their arms are exposed. They used to have long sleeves & it brought extra class to the establishment. (They are 100% right. • the drink prices skyrocketed. • I don't know what they changed in the crab cakes, it wasn't the best. • I have 8 years of pictures they take for your birthday & the new ones they took ... it's so small. I put it next to my other ones & it's so sad. The rest was great but don't change a good thing.

We are visiting Montreal with friends & Gibby's was recommended by locals. The restaurant has so much charm & you can tell it is loved by all ages of guests. The service was wonderful, Diane, our server, was attentive, friendly & patient when we took our time ordering. We all ordered various steak entrees & felt they were prepared perfectly. It's not often you get an actual "rare" steak when you ask for it so I was thrilled. Gibby's is a proper steakhouse, they let the meats speak for themselves. However the black pepper mushroom sauce on the "Diane" was really good too! The blue cheese salad was phenomenal & loved the Monte Carlo potato. As we were all quite full from the pickles, bread & steak entrees we decided to split a sorbet dessert. It was enough for our party of 4 to have a few tastes & feel satisfied. Plus it came with a cookie & dinner mints.

Enjoy an upscale dining experience in a historic building which used to be a stable. This classic steakhouse features your typical cuts of steak with optional seafood additions for surf & turf. Wine selection is good & the service was exceptional so expect to be pampered. Alejandro was very attentive & kind. The homemade bread & the kosher pickles were great. The steaks were pretty good & the house salad was delicious.

Clam chowder was great, salad was great, bread was great, asparagus was great, Monte Carlo potatoe was dry & lifeless, shrimp cocktail shrimps were poorly prepared (over cooked) - rubbery & tough.

Great first dining experience while visiting Montreal. Service was super friendly & attentive. Fancy, but not over the top vibes. Meals were very good. House pickles & bread served as an appetizer for the table. Lemon sorbet before the main course to cleanse the palate. Very unique progression of the meal, but was quite satisfying. Do have to note that the atmosphere is very very loud, so keep that in mind. Prices are fair for what you get. Definitely a spot worth checking out.

We were at Gibbys for my mother's birthday. Our server Mourad was amazing, attentive, patient & always smiling. The included salads, baked potatoes, fresh bread & birthday cake were all delicious. The Beef Wellington & steaks were good. This wasn't our first time dining here & as usual the ambience was inviting & warm.

The oysters were honestly amazing. We preferred the fresh ones but the Rockefeller were really good as well. They give you warm bread, pickles & bacon at first & all the mains come with soup/salade & a side dish. We weren't fans of the Gaspacho (we found it was a little bit too spicy & trust us we love spicy food) but the salade was good! Our waitress was great & on point with everything. They even have a cake included with the meals if you guys are celebrating a birthday which was really good & not too sweet like you would think. They also have a valet service at the front so you don't need to break your head with the parking. The place itself is also very cute & cosy!

A great high end restaurant in Old Montreal, very good steak & seafood, desserts etc, even the hot bread is good. Location is actually an old stable. The only minor frustration is waiting for the valet parking to retrieve your car when you are leaving - sometimes can take 15-20 mins when its busy. They allow you to take leftovers home, which is also nice. Service is professional, ambiance top notch, so one of the best higher priced restaurants in Old Montreal.

We spent 4 nights in Montréal & went back to Gibbys twice because of Kasra. He offers 5 star service - we would highly recommend requesting him.

The food is delicious. Pickles, bacon & fresh bread to start per usual. We had the beef Wellington & Ribeye, each cooked to perfection. Do not pass this up on your visit to Montréal.

Having heard many positives about Gibby's I finally had a chance to visit. Very rustic & charming inside. The female attire should be updated though. I'm sure they would be much happier.
I ordered the Gibby's cut ribeye with a side of lobster tail. My friend ordered the same but with the scampi side. She shared with her daughter.
Dinner started with free pickles & a great loaf of bread followed by a very a tasty salad. Other option were a also available (see web menu). After our salad, a small portion of sorbet was served to cleanse the pallet. A nice touch.
The steaks were served & they were done exactly as order. My friend loved her steak while I & her daughter found the steak just average. It tasted a little bland. It was not a melt in you mouth rich steak that I'm accustomed to from a well marbled rib eye.
While I'm glad to have the Gibby's experience (great service), Gibby's will not be the my first choice when I get a craving for a good ribeye.

Completing my touring of Montreal finest steakhouses. This time, dinner at Gibby's, an institution that I have not visited since 2009. In 2009, when I first visited Gibby's, I had not much experience with steakhouses & I was very impressed at that time. Years later, I have tried many steakhouses not only in Canada, but also in the US & in other countries where beef is as revered as in the US. The reason I am writing this is because I do not think that Gibby's is bad. They are doing things the same way they used to, but I believe that I am not impressed by it anymore only because my taste has evolved. So Yes, my rib eye was cooked to requested doneness, but no it's no more one that seduces me because nowadays my ideal rib eye steak is the like of a corn-finished 40 days dry aged Black Angus, A 40 days wet aged USDA prime, bone-in, etc.. which are clearly not what was offered on this dinner (this boneless rib eye steak was firmer, had less fat distribution, less expressive meat flavor ...but again, compared ..to what i idealize as great today ). So less impressed, indeed, but only because my taste has switched to something else, NOT because it is bad! & yes, if you start comparing to some other hot steakhouses, well no it is not playing in the same league as it is not its purpose neither. Still, it's a generous steakhouse: nice warm bread, palate cleanser, pickles of great quality, plenty of salad did accompany my rib eye. The only thing that i can't put on the back of the evolution of my palate is this : the wine service...leaving a glass of Pinot noir on my table without showing the bottle to me, without pre-tasting NO & NO! You serve me my glass of Pinot Noir while I haven't finished my other glass of sparkling wine, again..NO! & what about the year of that PN? Its description (region, etc) There's no excuse for that.
