Afficher toutsteak(334) gibbys(122) gibbs(112) recommend(98) salad(75) steakhouse(75) wine(58) dessert(55) beef(55) wellington(55) birthday(50) quality(49)We do fine dining & we appreciate good food. Except for the valet parking for free gratuity not included the experience at Gibbys is below expectation . being from the USA from Florida where the best of the best in steak houses like New York prime Ruth Christ capital gril the Oakes etc etc etc gibbys as a steak house is disappointing .the pickles were so average coming from a canned jar the bread was below average the beef Wellington had a thick crust not fluffy & well prepared like st hell kitchen at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant & the steak au poivre was way below average.the steak was below average & the sauce was terrible .the potato Monaco was nothing to be proud of . The pricing was too expensive for the quality .the atmosphere is ok but dark & unattractive . So if you are looking for a steak culinary experience in Montreal again Moshe's is the only place that falls at the lower end of average compared to the great state of Florida .& the taxes on the food is unreal .sorry Montreal but getting worse & worse 🥲🥲🥲❤?
Went for Lunch, was extremely satisfied, price was great for what they offer. They offered bread & a pickle to start. We ordered Tartare & Rockefeller both were great, the Pepper Steak was amazing, Steak was seasoned well but still beefy & the sauce was delicious. The asparagus was also seasoned well & cooked well. The Lamb was lamb, it didnt wow me compared to the steak. They offered a small refreshing sorbet after your appetizers. For dessert we had a chocolate cake that was a bit decadent for my taste but it had great crispy texture on the bottom, still solid.
Exceptional food! Outstanding service! Diane, our server again this year, 100% attentive to our needs & extremely personable. Gibby's & their Beef Wellington are worth the trip from Toronto every Birthday. In my opinion, the best restaurant in Old Montreal.
The most delicious Beef Wellington, & the kindest staff! You will certainly have the meal of your life here.
4.5/5 stars.
Great spot for dinner with excellent service. We ordered the beef Wellington & 15 oz sirloin. The beef Wellington was delicious & we would absolutely order it again, but unfortunately the sirloin was chewy & hard to eat. We also ordered fries on the side, which were also unfortunately very soggy. The starter Gibbys salad was great, & the lemon sorbet was a nice touch.
We were celebrating a birthday & they brought out dessert with a little candle as well!
Overall great spot!
Absolutely the BEST steakhouse in all of Montreal! The Beef Wellington is everything people say it is... & more. Don't pass up the chance to get a Gibbys'Old Fashioned' - the surprise does not disappoint!
The 17th century dining room is worth visit alone - absolutely spectacular!
Caroline gave us the warmest, most gracious service we could have every imagined. She is truly a credit to this beloved restaurant. From the moment she came to our table, she made us feel like we'd come home!
Gibby's Steakhouse is a super cute restaurant that fits perfectly with the Old Montreal vibe. Service was welcoming & attentive throughout our meal.
My mom & I both ordered the fixed-price lunch menu. For appetizers, I had the beef tartare & she had the French onion soup, both were delicious, but portions were generous & we couldn't quite finish them since we wanted to save room for the rest of the meal. We were also served a lemon sorbet in between courses, which was a nice palate cleanser.
For entrées, I had the Diane steak & my mom had the Youville rack of lamb. Both were cooked perfectly to our tastes & were very flavorful. The only minor downside was that the vegetable portion felt quite small, just a few pieces of asparagus & a small pepper.
For dessert, we both had the chocolate cake of the day. It was a bit dry, but still enjoyable overall.
Overall, a very nice dining experience with great service & well-prepared food.
Solid 5 star but taking one star off because the hostess asked our name & number & when we asked why, she couldnt answer.( it was tuesday lunch & was not busy)
Food,
Appetizers,
Complimentary bread was good.
Oyster rocker fella, was not great.
Beef tartare was great flavour & refreshing.
Escargot was great & dipping that complimentary bread was great combo.
French onion soup was great. - this was what i have got & it was the best french onion soup i have ever gotten!!!
Id recommend, tartare, french onion soup, & escargot.
Lemon sorbet was delightful!!!! I'd pay for it separately for sure. So refreshing & yummy!!
Main,
Burger was great.
Striploin with peppercorn sauce was subpar. It was not true medium rare (some parts were well done, some were medium rare, some parts were rare & the fat has not rendered… & all so very smoky'flavour' which i didn't love.. because it was more of a burnt taste to me)
Dessert was chocolate cake & it was good. Cake itself was ok but the chocolate cream layer in top was so rich, creamy & delicious.
Coffee also came with it & was good coffee.
All of us ordered lunch special. I loved everything but main entree. For the price you pay it is a great lunch spot!!
Also pickle slaps here.
What a great time! Caroline was amazing. She is very attentive, funny, efficient. The little touches that gibbys offers for birthdays & even the little suprise when ordering the new old fashion drink was so cool! The beef wellington is just perfection. Can't wait to go back. A big thanks to all the staff who are super friendly.
