Gibby's was by far best dining experience we had in Montreal. Incredible food, incredible service, & an amazing atmosphere. We had the bone in filet mignon with a lovely wine recommended by our waiter.
I was impressed by the timing of the delivery with each course, we did not feel rushed & our waiter was extremely courteous.
I am very disappointed, I have been coming to Gibbys for 3+ years including my wedding anniversaries & the service & food was always impeccable. Today, it was a huge let down. The homemade bread was dry & the service was abysmal, they spilled water & basically thrusted down our plates in front of us when we had been polite & kind the entire time. The steak was very bland even with their special seasoning blend which is a far cry from their usual cuisine. We were so appalled we did not tip & just paid for our meal. Merry Christmas.

We chose Gibby's based on a few YouTube videos & the online reviews, & it turned out to be the best dining experience we had in Montreal. Everything was outstanding - our food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were fantastic, & our server Anna was truly delightful. Her warmth & professionalism made the evening even more special.
After overhearing another server speaking to guests in a rather condescending way, we appreciated even more how lucky we were to have Anna taking care of us. She was a true gem. Gibbys will definitely be our go-to restaurant whenever we visit Montreal again. Highly recommended!

Exceptional food! Outstanding service! Diane, our server again this year, 100% attentive to our needs & extremely personable. Gibby's & their Beef Wellington are worth the trip from Toronto every Birthday. In my opinion, the best restaurant in Old Montreal.
Classy,delicious, warm ambiance. Gibbys is an institution of culinary delight. The food is by far the best in Montreal. The staff is so pleasant & on the ball. If you walk away from your table they re-fold your napkin. The building is the best feeling of old Montreal.
Everything was absolutely delicious from start to finish. The service was warm, friendly, & professional, making us feel welcome the entire evening.
While our meals took a little longer to arrive than expected, they were more than worth the wait. We ordered the Youville Rack of Lamb, marinated with fine herbs & garlic, & the Rib Steak. Both dishes were cooked perfectly & packed with flavor.
The famous Gibbys salad was absolutely delicious, & we also enjoyed the lemon sorbet palate cleanser, which was a lovely touch. Our sides were the fresh asparagus & the Monte Carlo potato (twice baked with bacon, sour cream, & chives), & they were outstanding.
Honestly, I can't think of a single thing to complain about. The food, the atmosphere, & the service were all excellent. We will definitely be coming back!
Have not been to Gibbys since the new ownership & must say, the changes have been disappointing. The food is not as good as it used to be. The bread is not the egg bread, has been replaced by regular bread, the salad is smaller & the dressing is different. The prices have also increased quite a bit. But not only that, the bathrooms don't have the seat covers anymore & the hand paper is exactly that, rough paper what used to be soft hand paper, almost like a towel. & the Air Conditioning wasn't working which made our general experience unpleasant. It's a shame that such a solid Montréal institution has fallen into the hands of a company who prioritizes profit over dining quality experience. Not sure we will be visiting again due to this. At least the service, as always, was cordial & warm as it has always been.
Great spot for dinner with excellent service. We ordered the beef Wellington & 15 oz sirloin. The beef Wellington was delicious & we would absolutely order it again, but unfortunately the sirloin was chewy & hard to eat. We also ordered fries on the side, which were also unfortunately very soggy. The starter Gibbys salad was great, & the lemon sorbet was a nice touch.
We were celebrating a birthday & they brought out dessert with a little candle as well!
Absolutely the BEST steakhouse in all of Montreal! The Beef Wellington is everything people say it is... & more. Don't pass up the chance to get a Gibbys'Old Fashioned' - the surprise does not disappoint!
The 17th century dining room is worth visit alone - absolutely spectacular!
Caroline gave us the warmest, most gracious service we could have every imagined. She is truly a credit to this beloved restaurant. From the moment she came to our table, she made us feel like we'd come home!
Gibby's Steakhouse is a super cute restaurant that fits perfectly with the Old Montreal vibe. Service was welcoming & attentive throughout our meal.
My mom & I both ordered the fixed-price lunch menu. For appetizers, I had the beef tartare & she had the French onion soup, both were delicious, but portions were generous & we couldn't quite finish them since we wanted to save room for the rest of the meal. We were also served a lemon sorbet in between courses, which was a nice palate cleanser.
For entrées, I had the Diane steak & my mom had the Youville rack of lamb. Both were cooked perfectly to our tastes & were very flavorful. The only minor downside was that the vegetable portion felt quite small, just a few pieces of asparagus & a small pepper.
For dessert, we both had the chocolate cake of the day. It was a bit dry, but still enjoyable overall.
Overall, a very nice dining experience with great service & well-prepared food.
