Went to this restaurant for the first & last time. I was with a group, & we wanted to add three more people, but they said no & made them sit separately from the rest of us. Other restaurants always find ways to make customers happy - not this one.
The food was good & the staff were friendly, but there weren't enough of them, so everything took forever - even just getting water & (bread which you have to pay for). The drinks were terrible; they clearly don't know how to make them.
We also went for a birthday, & after asking whose birthday it was, they did absolutely nothing. It honestly felt like they just wanted us to leave. Terrible customer service, especially from the owner. Very disappointing experience.
loved the atmosphere here & the food was great :) our waitress paige was also so friendly & helpful!
Cozy restaurant with relaxed vibes. It's not too loud or crowded. It's a soothing atmosphere. Dim lighting that sets a mood. Great option for a date night! They have a diverse wine list. The service was great! From our waitress to the timing of the food coming out, as well as ensuring our water glasses were always filled. The team was on point. The bread service was delicious. The bread was fresh out of the oven with coarse salt flakes on top. The garlic butter was delightful. The honey butter was not my preference, but my partner liked it. The olives were tasty, but the green ones were on the bitter side. We both order the rib eye steak with fries. Their homemade fries were beautifully done. Perfect amount of seasoning, & I love when fries have a little bend to them like these ones did. The rib eye steak was a little underwhelming. I asked for not too much pepper. It was cooked properly. It was charred nicely, but I found it lacked seasoning & overall flavor. It didn't have pepper or anything, really. It was disappointing when you ordered a high-end item on the menu & expected a quality that wasn't delivered. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience,
Review from someone that just loves food in general from fast food to fine dining. Rating is based on the lowest score. Service: Top service, food arrived fast, new plates in between, checked in on regularly. No issues at all. Atmosphere, simple dim light open room concept. Sound travels so it was a bit difficult to hear my table. Open kitchen so I think kitchen seats might be interesting. Food: Interesting menu items. Had taken several appetizers & a steak. What's interesting when you have menus without images is your expectations & I think everything was on par visually. Calamari was as expected, portion size & both tentacles & rings. Crispy & not chewy. Horseradish sauce (which I make & prefer) plus other sauce was nice to have. 8.5/10 I would prefer to have again. (Example of bad calamari is Lucille's 18$/8pcs). In general calamari should be under $20 & few good places have them in $16-18 range. Mushroom Tartine: Extremely above expectations. Flavour was just something different. Definetly a dish I would want to recreate myself & was the highlight at the Bistro. 10/10 Oysters: Oysters are Oysters. Choice of Lemon, Tabasco, Mignonette (a bit under on flavour) & that Horseradish tomato again. I typically just go for Oysters on Oyster days, or shuck a box myself. Salmon tartare: I love salmon & beef tartare (& when presented table side) but this one just didn't have any burst of flavour, it didn't give my taste buds a new experience. 7/10 Basically decided from my last 2 experiences that I'll just stick to my own home made tartare. If you are ordering a Salmom tartare for the first time, this dish would be a safe introductory to get over "raw" fish. Beets salad: To me, it was just a beets salad. I enjoy beets already so nothing new of a flavour profile came out on this dish. 7/10 Sirloin Steak frites MR: Had expectations since their mains are fairly beef related. For nearly $50 it isn't changing anyone's steak expectations at all. There are quite a few steak places to be had in the sub $40 as a complete. Fries also under whelming. That malt vinegar mayo, noooo. Overall the place is a nice little bistro. Annually for the past 4-5 years we go to the same restaurant for their tasting menu & wine pairing but this time I wanted something different this time hoping Bistro Grace can bring in something different. Come to think of it, there was a reason we kept going back to our same resto because expectations matched & I guess we will see them next year.
The owner / chef has an attitude problem. not a family friendly place.
Second time I've been to this restaurant. First time the experience was nice however the second time not so much. Went with a friend who had suggested the restaurant. Explained to the server that I could not eat the salad offered with the meal. The server went to verify if I could get another salad. The agreement was that I would give my friend the salad & I would purchase another salad (which I paid 10$ extra for a small portion of lettuce). My meal came to me with the salad that I had asked not to be served on my plate. The salad was scraped off my plate- my plate was returned to me with the remnants of the salad- not a clean plate. As I was eating my meal I found a hair. I once again returned my meal & was given a new plate. I called the owner a few days later as I continued to be bothered by my experience. When I spoke to the owner his tone was confrontational & aggressive. My friend & I spent a great deal of money for this meal & I have to say it didn't seem to bother the owner one bit that my experience was disappointing. I'm not writing this review because of a salad mix up; I can let that go- the hair in my meal, not so much - the owner's attitude when I called was what really got to me. I wonder how the owner, who is also the restaurant's chef, would grade the restaurant if he experienced what I did. j
The food here just gets better everytime I go. The freshest most delicious fine cuisine. Friendly & knowledgeable wait staff that are very accommodating. It's not just a restaurant, it's a delightful & well planned experience. Make a reservation, before you go. Gems like this place fill up fast, or try your luck.
nice place. good quality food. Friendly staff. A little on the expensive side, but worth a visit.
Grace restaurant is a real gem.
A real blessing to have such world class food in the West-Island.
The chef is absolutely top notch.
The service is super friendly & truly cares about your dining experience.
The atmosphere is cozy & comfortable.
If I could rate it 10 stars I would!!!
Bon Appetit!!!
Some highs & lows. The hostess/bartender was rude, not friendly at all, she could certainly ruin the experience for people.
Now for the food, the mushroom goat cheese app was amazing, total crave worthy. I ordered the chicken as my main, terrible, it was swimming in a brown gravy maybe 3-4 ounces of chicken, I should’ve ordered something else. Had the cherry pie for dessert, was simple but very good!
Restaurant could use some additional decor, you feel like you’re in a store front also the noise level gets awkward.
Excellent food & service!!!
Very satisfied & have strongly suggested to family & friends.
We'll definitely go back again very soon as hubby & I loved it?
