Vallier is my casual go-to in the neighbourhood. Simple bistro menu that is well-executed. Salmon tartare is consistent, & on a recent Saturday afternoon I experienced an exceptional kir royale courtesy of William, the one-man show i.e. host/barista/bartender/restaurant server. The space is also noteworthy - bright & spacious. Date night, friends meet-up. A bistro for all seasons
Un cadre chaleureux, un service professionnel & des plats savoureux préparés avec des produits de qualité. Mention spéciale à Tom, le barman, pour son accueil & son professionnalisme qui contribuent à la belle ambiance du lieu. Une adresse que je recommande sans hésitation !

Stopped in for dinner after a long travel day. Sat at the bar where Tom served me. He was great, conversational & very quick. Had an excellent meal, the spicy beef tartare & the seafood risotto, they were fantastic. Left to continue my track out of town to find my rental car had been broke into. I came back the Vallier Bistro to find a warm spot to file a police report. Upon hearing my predicament Tom & his manager Will were beyond kind & gracious. They allowed me to post up for pushing 2 hours just to try to figure out my situation. They both offered their support helping me file a police report half in French (native & only English speaker here), allowed me to sit past closing so as not to put me out in the cold & just in general were very kind & supportive. Truly above & beyond & then some. Highly, highly recommend for their food & even more so for their service. Thank you both again, & to whomever reads these, please give these men a huge & deserved raise, it's hard to find that quality of service anywhere.
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service - friendly & efficient without being too fussy.
The food was excellent. Coffees were spectacular & they have a nice wine list.
We sat at a tale but there is a fabulous bar with plenty of seating also.
We spotted this place by walking by, driven by the cozy atmosphere & pretty decor we decided to make a reservation for dinner the next day. We indicated we were two couples with two babies, & a table with a great amount of space was waiting for us, which made us feel instantly welcome. The atmosphere was pretty local & easy going, we even made some friends with two girls that were dining solo (one was reading a book accompanied with a drink)! The food was just AMAZING; we had the gnocchi Mac & cheese, the lamb, the mushroom raviolis, shepherds pie & meatballs (in order of favorite to less favorite). For dessert we had pudding Chomeur & crème brûlée. Even the cappuccinos were amazing. This was our last night at Montreal & couldn't have been happier with the choice. Can't recommend this place enough, thanks to all the staff for making it a great evening, & of course the kitchen & bar staff as well. We will definitely come back!!!
Great drinks! Food is fabulous, portions are enough, & waitstaff pleasant. Over all great meal in a great atmosphere. Able to visit & talk with your companions for a meal or chat over libations at the bar.
Stopped here for pre dinner drinks. Sat at the bar & enjoyed chatting with the bartender as he created his works for art. The place was cozy, casual & perfect.
Stopped by for lunch with my daughter. I asked for a glass of Bordeaux (my wine was refrigerated 🧐🥴)my daughter got lemonade (apparently it was a canned fizzy one). The place was pretty much empty at 2:30 in the afternoon (now I know why) there was only one ☝️ person at the bar. My daughter asked for the steak med-rare & fries, I requested the beef burger med-rare. The food arrived, I cut my burger in half, it was gray, no sight of pink. The waiter became very defensive when I said I'd rather not eat that. This was the ONLY time I refused to eat food that was not to my liking, I mean for $26/burger I expect it to at least be cooked to my liking, we're not going to talk about the size, that's another story. I have to say it looked pleasing to the eye, the fries not so much, they were soft & dark in color, but that obviously has a lot to do with the kind of oil they use & the fact they don't double fry them also the oil temp. So the waiter lost the "battle" with me & called the manager who also was very defensive & swore the burger is great. I said I was not told about the laws of serving med-rare burger which apparently was not possible in Canada, however, it was a mistake on their part because it was obvious we weren't Canadians & if I asked for med-rare I should've been told that it was not possible. So long story short I refused the burger na by that time my daughter had already finished her steak & barely touched the fries, so I asked for the check 60$ Canadian dollars & some change. I left an 18% tip which turned out 70+$ because that's just me, but it was ridiculously overpriced & not up to par the day the least. Service is below average. Food=not good (I'm being nice!) Managment; should dress presentable at least. For a place that looks somewhat upscale you should dress more tastefully. Would not recommend! So many great places around!
Je suis allée manger après mon travail. J'ai commandé la salade chaude, juste incroyable, que des bons produits, avec un mélange de textures & de saveurs. Les portions sont généreuses. Très grand choix de vins. Endroit magnifique, où on se sent bien, entourés de plantes & d'une décoration au goût raffiné, ambiance très chaleureuse. Le service est parfait & j'ai été très bien conseillé. Parfait pour tout type d'événements, un repas seul au bar, un date avec son/sa partenaire, repas entre amis ! Je viens de me créer une dépendance.

Months ago my partner & I randomly stopped in for a drink at the bar because we had some time to kill in the area. We were impressed by the decor & the friendliness of the staff so we said we'd come back sometime for a meal.
Yesterday we decided to try having dinner here & we're not disappointed. We ordered the Calimari, Brussel sprout Cesar salad (delicious), French onion soup & Steak. Everything was good, the prices are reasonable & the service was friendly again. We enjoyed the vintage style, live plants & natural light from the big windows.
