The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. Although its name and décor have changed over time, the dining experience has always stayed consistent. The Keg’s focus has been, and continues to be, on providing exceptional service and quality food in a comfortable atmosphere for its guests. Quality, comfort and value are three key ingredients that make The Keg experience unlike any other. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend. Classic cocktails, delicious appetizers, succulent seafood, and an outstanding wine list round out its classic menu. The Keg’s friendly and knowledgeable staff creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy, relax and be themselves. Whether you’re getting together with friends or celebrating with family, you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
Overall, reviews describe The Keg Steakhouse + Bar as a solid choice for steak lovers, with many praising the high quality of the meat, flavorful sides, and reliable service in a warm, inviting atmosphere. The experience is often celebrated for celebrations and family meals, and staff are repeatedly noted as friendly, attentive, and helpful. Yet some visits feel crowded or noisy, and there are occasional complaints about wait times, uneven doneness of steaks, and price for value. A few reviewers mention inconsistent results between locations and some hygiene concerns or maintenance notes, but the majority express satisfaction and a willingness to return.
For my first time at the Keg i was expecting an unforgettable experience but it wasn't the case!
I was there with my husband for his birthday & booked in advance at 8h30 but was not seated until 8h55 after waiting with more than 30 people at the entrance, & asking why the delay.
The music was nice & the waiter Nick was amazing but i was very disappointed with the food, starting with the presentation that was way far from what i was expecting at a steakhouse like this one, yes the meat was good but asking for sauce for it ( which i heard many customers next to us do too) they charge you 3$ when u r paying way more than the plate deserves, on the other hand the vegetables & the fries were on top of each other, the mushrooms sooo tiny that u almost can't hold the with the fork.
It was a very disappointing experience & I'm surely not going back!!
I visited The Keg in Laval on January 9, 2026, with a family table of five to celebrate a very special occasion: a joint birthday for both my father & grandfather. This was my first time dining at The Keg, & it absolutely did not disappoint.
We ordered the 14 oz Prime Rib & three of the 18 oz New York Striploins + black pepper chicken. The food was to die for, the spices were spot on, & everything was cooked to a perfect medium-rare.
However, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the service. It has been a long time since we've experienced hospitality like this. We were served by Jean Michelle, who was an absolute professional. He was kind, articulate, smiling, & offered excellent menu suggestions. He was also wonderful with the kids at the table, which made the evening so much more relaxing.
His attention to detail was unmatched; our water glasses were never empty, & he picked up on the fact that we were celebrating birthdays without us having to make a big deal of it. He surprised us by bringing out a cake, which was such a thoughtful touch.
If you are going to the Keg in Laval, I highly suggest asking for Jean Michelle. He levels up the dining experience completely. Thank you for a wonderful night!
For a fancy & expensive restaurant, the service should be memorable. However it was not great. The server wasn't that friendly nor smiling (although he has no choice) & was shouting. At the other tables I don't hear him that loud when taking orders. Your server should learn how to properly handle & speak nicely when trying to explain to us that outside foods was not allowed (for allergy reasons). Not like making us seem that we were not welcome all together. Bad experience overall for a birthday event. A revised in training is appropriate. Try to avoid this server (David) to not ruin a good meal.
The Keg is always top notch, you pay a premium price but it is always fantastic!! My favorite location is Place Ville Marie but this is by far the next best location.

Awful. Save your time & money. We came here on a Monday night at 5:30. The restaurant & bar were busy. We sat at the bar (the only quickly available space.). The server/bartender took upwards of five minutes to even acknowledge us even though we were a foot or less away & quite obvious. Taking the order was tedious & within ten minutes still didn't even have beverages. The staff were casual & nonchalant even though it was clearly busy. There are a dozen restaurants near by. Very unacceptable. We walked out before getting drinks nearly twenty minutes after we sat down. A complete waste of time. We went down the street & had a fantastic $300 dinner.
