This is hands down the best bagel in the world-you absolutely have to try it! The taste reminded me of the traditional bread you'd find in old Jerusalem, rich with flavor & authenticity. I even brought some back to Toronto & paired them with my Tim Hortons coffee, & let me tell you, it was the ultimate combination. A must-try for any bagel lover!
As a New Yorker surrounded by incredible bagel options, I have high standards when it comes to bagels. In fact, bagels are one of my all-time favorite food. if I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life (with all the sandwich fixings, breakfast variations, or pizza bagels), it would be bagels! So, I was beyond excited to try Montréal bagels in their home city. I started with a blueberry bagel, which I devoured plain, no cream cheese, no butter, just the bagel itself. & let me tell you, it was heavenly. Sweet, dense, moist, it was perfect on its own. I could never enjoy a New York bagel without toppings with the same reaction. Later, I tried an everything Montréal bagel as the base for a breakfast sandwich (at another restaurant), & while it was delicious, I have to admit-nothing beats a New York everything bagel for sandwiches. So, are Montréal bagels better than New York bagels? My answer: yes & no. For eating plain, the blueberry (& I'd image any sweet bagel) a Montréal bagel was unmatched. But for sandwiches, New York bagels still holds my heart. That said, Montréal bagels from here deserve all the praise-they're so flavorful, & absolutely worth a visit. I took a half-dozen blueberry bagels home with me because I just couldn't get enough. 5 stars all around!
Had high hopes coming here after hearing amazing things about their bagels & the bagel scene in Montreal overall. Flavors were good, a little faint though & the texture was right on point. There was no space to sit at all/bathroom & they didn't have an option for toasting which is how I enjoy my bagels.
I found St. Viateur's bagels to be overrated. The hot & fresh poppy seed was not bad, & the cold sesame had a good flavor, but in general the cold bagels were hard & void of much flavor. I made this a central place to visit during my time in the city, & I definitely wouldn't next time. I don't know if I came on an off day, or if this style just falls far short of the NYC style. A reminder that it's cash only, & take-out only. My favorite aspect of the bakery is the quaint atmosphere, & you're not really able to enjoy it because of the nature of the line & it being take-out only.
St-Viateur Bagel delivers an exceptional bagel experience. We sampled a dozen, split between regular & sesame, & each was superb-fresh, perfectly chewy, & bursting with flavor. The regular bagels had a delightful density, while the sesame added a crunchy, nutty twist. Service was friendly & efficient, making the visit even more enjoyable. If you're a bagel enthusiast or just looking for the best in town, St-Viateur is a must-try. Hands down, the best bagel I've ever had!
St-Viateur Bagel is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked bagels hits you, promising a delightful experience. The bagels here are nothing short of perfection - crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, & with just the right amount of flavor. The staff are incredibly friendly & efficient, making sure every visit is a pleasant one. The variety of bagels & spreads available caters to every taste, & each bite is a testament to the quality & tradition that St-Viateur Bagel is known for. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this place is a must-visit for the best bagels in town. Highly recommended!
A legendary bagel shop in Montreal, renowned for its hand-rolled, wood-fired bagels. Offers bagels with a perfect balance of chewiness & crispness, available in classic flavors like sesame, poppy, & everything. Definitely, a favorite for both locals & tourists. The shop's warm, inviting atmosphere & the sight of fresh bagels being made on-site make for a delightful visit. For an authentic Montreal bagel experience, St-Viateur Bagel is unparalleled.
I've heard the hype surrounding St-Viateur bagels for years & although it was good, I can unfortunately say that I've had better. I'll start with the good things though, for instance the menu variety. I would recommend the Sesame Bagel without a doubt, easily the most reliable option & in my opinion a must-have. I've tried most of the flavors on the menu & another one that stood out was the Maple Apple. At the end of the day, there is enough variety to please everyone's preference. I would also consider this place as on option for large groups not only due to the menu variety but also for the cost-effective pricing. Taste-wise, for me, it did not live up to the hype. The overall quality was just okay: the taste was good but nothing more; the portion was quite small (big hole) & the texture was mediocre. For info, there was neither room for dine-in nor an outdoor area/terrace. Also, they only accept cash as a payment method. I reiterate that it was GOOD overall, however I expected GREAT considering the hype.
Cash only but there's an ATM, & the bagels are more than worth it! Such good flavor, be sure to get a hot one
Pretty average bagel to me. I've been eating NYC bagels for years & I really don't see this as a better bagel. Maybe I did not get the right flavor, cause I don't understand what the buzz is.
