Soup Zen Hot Pot draws praise for its innovative pay-by-weight, build-your-own format with a wide range of ingredients, broths, and a sauce bar, plus halal and gluten-free options and complimentary ice cream at the end, which many reviewers love for the extra touch. The experience is described as cozy and fun, with generous portions, fresh ingredients, and friendly staff who explain the process and help when needed. Improvements in kitchen workflow have been noted by some, yet waits and lines persist during peak hours and the space can feel crowded and noisy, with a cold draft near the door and limited privacy due to tight seating. Value is variable, as prices can rise quickly with the weight of items, and a few guests report miscommunications or occasional delays with service or broth choices. Overall quality and variety are highly regarded, and the sauce bar and end dessert are consistently praised, though a minority point to occasional inconsistencies such as missing ingredients, overcooked vegetables, or flavor gaps in certain broths. Still, many say the concept, atmosphere, and overall experience make it worth returning, especially for a comforting meal with friends or family on a cold day.
Terrible place, don't waste your time & money. They've raised their prices so much that it's not worth it anymore, & they added so many tables you can barely walk in there. Greedy business. The service is also terrible. We had to wait so long to get seated even though we were on the waitlist, & again waited so long for the food. The staff are also horrible. It says unlimited ice cream but when we asked for seconds the server the tall black guy gave me an attitude saying'really? again?' & never brought it for us waiting so long until we left.

Good when they first opened. Now, it's horrible. First, tables are so close together that it's so likely a server will spill hot soup all over you. There was a very rude server, tall black dude who refused to serve us. He was dismissive & made weird comments. They should hire better people. Wouldnt come back again. A shame because the food is ok.
i dont think enough people understand they are having a dish called Malatang in chinese. The concept of mini hot pot has been around for a long time in china & yet this place gives zero credit to where this concept comes from. There is no indication inside the restaurant whatsoever. The place looks like a poke restaurant. Just feels like westernized / repackaged for instagram. The food & service itself where fine. But as a chinese this felt like a weird experience seeing my culture being repackaged for the sake of attracting a wider audience. I am not sure what the owners are thinking about that but looks like they are profiting off of a trend if they are not going to explain to the people what the food is about & where it comes from.
Food poisoning. Unfortunately I came here a few months ago & it was great, but today was a completely different experience. Ended the night in the bathroom. Now I'm scrolling through the reviews warning about food poisoning & wishing I'd seen them sooner.
To answer the question below: Friday evening around 7. I had mushrooms, lamb, a bunch of greens & egg. With the Sha cha broth. Thanks for looking into this
Had a great experience at Soupe Zen Hot Pot. The concept of building your own bowl is really fun, & there are lots of fresh ingredients to choose from. The broth was flavourful, the portions were generous, & everything came out hot & tasty. The staff were friendly & helpful. Overall, a cozy spot for a relaxed meal with friends - definitely recommend & would come back again.

Disappointed with how crowded the area felt, was constantly getting shoved by people passing by. The food was okay but their signature soup was more fishy than anything else. The vegetables, especially the broccoli, were not fresh. Coming from a new hot pot location close by last week, my experience there was better.
The food there is very good but gosh they raised the price AGAIN! Now it's all the way up to 46/kg. That is serious amount of money to charge. A standard plate 600g will run you 30 bucks. They need to consider pricing better & more rational cause their food is good!
It is something that I am not used to eat. You take your bowl. & add whatever you want from all the ingredients available. Then they weight it, & add the broth of your election. No lemon to add as an option. & a little expensive in my opinion. The ice cream they give you at the end. A new flavor for me. A sweet potato & vanilla ice cream. I didn't like it a lot. That is my experience. For noodles 🍜 lovers, it may be a very good place to eat.

I love this concept. I do wish there were more vegetable options & that the vegetables were cut smaller (whole baby carrots should be halved, for example). I tried the tomato broth this time & it was incredible. There are vegetarian & vegan options, but if cross-contamination concerns you, then your out of luck, since people choose all their ingredients with one set of tongs.
Definitely remember to join the waitlist, as it's often full!
