Soup Zen Hot Pot offers a self service, pay by weight concept with a wide range of fresh ingredients and broths, a sauce bar and complimentary ice cream, plus halal and gluten free options, delivering customizable bowls that many guests find tasty, satisfying, and generously portioned; the experience is popular for its fun, interactive setup and friendly atmosphere, but crowds and long waits can be challenging, service can be inconsistent, and some feel the final price can add up quickly, especially when heavier ingredients are chosen.
very clean. & a lot of options for different type of toppings. ramen was very flavourful & their complementary ice cream at the end is so good. i'd go again just for the ice cream. portions are huge so do not overfill your bowl with toppings. they have 2 options for veggie broth which was nice.
My husband & I have been to a lot of Hot Pot restaurants in Taiwan so were curious to see how the Zen HotPot compared. We were a table of 6 on a Saturday night. It was very busy but we were able to book in online & were seated once we all arrived. There is a great selection of items to choose from to put in your soup......various types of thinly sliced meats, lobster & fish balls, Basa Fish, vegetables, noodles etc.
You grab a bowl & a pair of tongs as you enter, pick the ingredients that you want & then pass it to the cashier who weighs your bowl & asks you what type of broth you'd like. Both my husband & I chose the'Signature Broth', medium spicy. We both like spice/heat but I wouldn't have wanted it any spicier. They have a nice selection of broths including a Tom Yum flavoured broth & even a Vegan Mushroom broth.
The cashier passes your bowl on to the kitchen who cook up all the ingredients up for you & eventually it is served to you at your table. For some reason, two of our party of 6 had their soup delivered long after the rest of us which was too bad.
If you have leftovers they do have Take Out bowls which you can bring home which is nice. Once you're finished they offer free Ube Ice Cream cones. Delicious & a nice way to finish the meal.
(jeudi dernier)
Was super excited to try this place, especially since they offered halal options.
There is a wide variety of halal meat available. Depending on the time of day, the level of busyness varies. I did find it expensive for what it is, but I also chose a lot of protein options. The soup broth tasted pretty good.
The food overall has a lot of flavour. However, the person taking our order mixed up the spice level of my broth with my husband's. Also, I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen, but some of the items my husband chose ended up in my bowl. The order mix-up did irritate us a little. We mentioned it to the waitress, & she was apologetic.
They give you free ube ice cream at the end of the meal which is a nice treat after a hot soupy meal.
I've been here more times than I can count. I first started to go here when they opened & it was amazing. The quality of the food was great! The place was clean everything was great. But then slowly everything got worse. I'm not sure exactly what happened but the food quality decreased significantly & the place often looks like it hasn't been cleaned in days. Not to mention, they added new'dry broths' which apparently are the same broths you can normally get just drained from the broth, I know it's ridiculous🤦🏻 In its current state I don't think I would recommend this place to people who have never been there. It's a shame since it was truly refreshing to see a hotpot place be halal. I truly hope they do some serious changes.

the food is amazing, but the hygiene is terrible. Ive been here three times & all those three times the bowls & utensils have been dirty, whenever i asked for a different one the worker just looked at me dirty & did there job. the cashier was talking with her friend for like literally 10 minutes straight while there was a whole line waiting. they have no sense of urgency like AT ALL..
