Terribly below expectations.will not return.
The service was super slow
The best part of the meal was probably the soup followed by the lamb shank. The rest was awful.
The appetizers arrived & were underwhelming. For the love of god, reconsider the size of the Shirazi salad! It's too small for a salad. The meat arrived very late & then it was cold. All of it! We complained that the filet mignon was cold & the waitress came & said she would bring a new one. After ten minutes she returned & said she would just warm up the one we had which turned the meat into a shoe sole. The chicken was dry & tasteless. Koobideh was actually decent.
This Persian restaurant is not worth the hype. If anyone wants to eat well, please head to Quartier Perse!
On the positive side, the staff & atmosphere were amazing & welcoming. The service was also great. The soup served before the meal was really delicious. I also enjoyed the Ghormeh Sabzi stew.
The main reason for the 3-star rating for food is the Salad Shirazi, which had a strong moldy taste. The vegetables looked fine, but they tasted & smelled rotten. We all tried it & agreed that it had a terrible moldy smell & taste.
We also ordered the chenjeh. It had too many unusual spices & was overly salty. It was also very hard & dry, & it did not taste fresh at all. It almost felt as if the spices were being used to mask a lack of freshness.
On the tasting plate, the dishes tasted good, but some items (Kashk Bademjan & Mirza Ghasemi) were served cold rather than warm. This was not a major issue, but these dishes are often more enjoyable when served warm because of their oil content.
The koobideh was okay in terms of both taste & freshness. The saffron flavor seemed to be stronger in color than in actual taste.
Overall, I think this is a good restaurant with a great atmosphere & excellent staff, but they should pay more attention to the freshness of their ingredients, especially for dishes that may not be ordered as frequently, such as Salad Shirazi & chenjeh.
We were a group of eight people, & unfortunately none of us were satisfied with the food. For example, the koobideh kebab had an overwhelmingly strong onion flavor, & it seemed like too much onion had been used in the meat mixture. The rice was slightly undercooked as well.
The kebab Torsh (Gilani style) had such a strong garlic taste that we could barely taste the meat itself. As for the marinated chicken, although it was tender, it honestly had no special flavor at all.
The most disappointing part was that we had a guest visiting from the United States, who was actually hosting the dinner that evening. He ordered the Barg kebab, but it was completely undercooked. We politely asked the staff to cook it properly. Instead of preparing a new one, they simply put the same kebab back on the grill for a little longer, which only made it tougher. Our guest was so disappointed that he did not even touch the kebab after that.
Overall, we were truly dissatisfied with the food & the experience, & unfortunately we will not be returning to this restaurant again.
What a gem of a place. The meal is super refreshing (Koobideh). I will definitely be coming back!
We spent a lovely evening with the family at Maman Sady restaurant-a cozy, beautiful, & genuinely warm place.
From the moment we walked in, the amazing aroma of ghormeh sabzi filled the air-it was absolutely irresistible & made you fall in love with the food before even tasting it.
The staff were kind, welcoming, & friendly, which made the experience even better.
The soup was delicious & comforting.
The koobideh was a perfect 10/10-simply excellent.
We also ordered barg & chenjeh kebabs, & both were incredibly tasty & full of flavor.
Overall, it felt like a warm, homey experience that we truly enjoyed.
We really enjoyed our experience here. The Kashk Bademjoon was absolutely delicious, & the chicken kabob was incredibly juicy & tender. The koobideh was decent but definitely has some room for improvement compared to the other dishes. Also, a special shoutout to Sahar Joon - she was so kind & attentive & truly made the experience even more memorable. We'll definitely be back!
Nice place,Good food & good service i liked the kebab koobideh ,i liked the soupe, but the kebab barg was really dry & small & the food was cold i asked to warm it & they did it.
The soup was good. The koobideh was mostly fat. It was wobbly like jello. It also smelled like chicken. I will let the reader make deduction.
... & even that took them more than an hour from taking the order to serve for a party of 8.
When I complained to the waiter about the delay in service. She simply replied to my surprise:'Well, don't pay tips.' When I argued that the tip goes to her. She replied that they did not distribute the tips among their staff!
We were seated quickly after arriving but on a busy Saturday night on Valentine's day, please ensure to have enough staff to cover all your tables. We had to wait a long time to receive menus & never received water until we were almost finished eating
Despite a busy night, the food was very good. We had the koobideh & saffron chicken but it was not as hot temperature wise as I would've liked.
Consider plating the protein & the rice together so it doesn't crowd the table & can be brought out all at once.
One of the best Iranian restaurants in Montreal. Lamb shank & koobideh are the best
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here with our grandparents & toddler, & the experience was flawless. The staff were incredibly gracious, friendly, & considerate, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
The restaurant itself has tasteful decor & a wonderful atmosphere. It's quiet enough to have a proper conversation without shouting, & the tables are spaced far enough apart that you never feel cramped-even with a larger group.
As for the food: it was amazing & the portions were very generous. A lovely surprise was that the mains included a complimentary soup appetizer, which was delicious & a very thoughtful touch.
Beef Stew: Traditionally prepared, beautifully presented, & so flavorful.
Koobideh: This absolutely blew my mind! It was a huge hit with our toddler, too.
Shrimp Rice: Simply out of this world.
We're already looking forward to our next visit!
Yesterday I ordered for pick up half hour later when I got there still working on it. After got my food for what I ordered two skewers of koobideh two skewers of chicken & two skewers of bath & one only one tomatoes for pick up. For $166 I was hoping at least the food is good which far far away from being good the barg kabob was like eating a piece of plastic & chicken uncooked & receiving six tomatoes & small onion & parsley which was rotten onion. So is not true 20-30 for three people is like $75 for pick up now I have no idea how much to sit there & eat. Food wasn't good service was terrible & price was too high don't eat there is just too much
Delicious food, friendly personnel. Don't forget to order Kebab Koobideh!
Tout était délicieux, de la soupe au dessert en passant par le koobideh & le Gheimenesar. 10 sur 10! À essayer absolument.
I had a great experience at Maman Sady. The place feels warm & welcoming, & the staff are super kind & attentive. The koobideh was juicy & full of flavor, the Vaziri was perfect for trying both saffron chicken & koobideh, & the Gheymeh Nesar was amazing, beautifully made & very authentic. Overall, a very comforting spot with delicious food. I'll definitely be coming back.
