Review Summary

Keung Kee is widely regarded as an institution in Montreal's Chinatown, offering a large, affordable Cantonese menu built around fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Reviews celebrate generous portions and strong seafood and wok dishes, with standouts like razor clams, clams with vermicelli, scallops, beef hotpot, orange beef, and lobster, all described as consistently tasty and reasonably priced. The dining experience is portrayed as lively and unpretentious, with fast service in a busy, sometimes noisy space and decor that is functional rather than fancy. Value and suitability for groups or families are repeatedly praised, though some notes point to uneven or impersonal service, occasional miscommunications about allergens or tipping, and the occasional dish arriving cold or not meeting expectations. The restaurant is also noted for veteran staff, authenticity, and a willingness to accommodate, making it a go-to for those seeking genuine Cantonese cooking at a good price in Chinatown. Some critiques mention plastic table coverings and a strong urge to keep expectations in check about service, but the overall tone emphasizes flavor, variety, and affordability as defining strengths.

This place is really good. The food comes out fast & fresh. Same decor & staff from the 90s. Its nice to have hidden non pretentious gems like this in montreal.

The food is great, but the people who owns it are the same people as the restaurant down stairs which means they are RUDE specifically the younger lady with the glasses by the drinks station. We only go there for the food, not the rudeness.

First & last time. The place looks really dirty & the service is really bad. The lady didn't understand what we wanted so she brought us a extra plate that we didn't order. The food looks old not fresh ... we were wondering what we were doing there... food looks fake ... we had to throw almost all the food! Ewww don't recommend at all

Delicious & authentic Cantonese food served here. I have been back to this restaurant every time i visit Chinatown in Montreal for the last 15 years. They serve generous portions & the food has never disappointed me. Love the beef chow fun, seafood chow mein (Hong Kong style), & the snow pea vegetables. Peeking duck is also excellent.
