Really good Cantonese food. Get 185 beef stew in hot pot! It comes with bok choy. It's beef brisket in a rich beefy sauce.
I asked about allergens in Chinese & the server sort of indicated non-verbally none of the dishes I ordered contained peanuts.
However, I recommend you be extra cautious here if you have allergies. The dishes I ordered are ones I am familiar with so I didn't expect there to be peanuts anyway & asked as an extra precaution.
Servers gave us ample time to go over the menu & when I was ready I just made eye contact & they came over. I sat close to the cash.
I showed the server images of photos of the food I wanted & he understood. Bill was very reasonable & food came fast! They kindly packaged my food for me to go home & I went up to the cash to pay by visa. :)
42. Scallop ($10 per scallop with vermicelli) - tasty! I don't think there is butter but it's delicious. The vermicelli is so garlicky but light. Tender scallops.🤤
166. Green beans - ok…I've had better
185. Beef stew in hit pot (Ngau lam Bo)- ❤? absolutely delicious. A few bits of melted, almost jello-like beef tendon. Sits on a bed of bok choy. I will return just for this dish.
267. seafood congee - one size, big bowl. gingery, contains squid, shrimp.
262. small rice - heaping bowl
They have the best fried rice I've ever had. Their other dishes such as general tao chicken, stuffed tofu or orange beef are also good, but the seafood fried rice is truly the star.
However, they use disposable plastic table cloth, which produces a lot of plastic waste.
the food was delicious, but the dishes were served cold, which spoiled the impression & taste of the dish. the plates with food were cracked . In my opinion, a solid 3 out of 5 points
I was in Montreal for work & got takeout from here after a long day. I got the stuffed shrimp with tofu, green peppers & eggplant with rice & it was delicious. Serving size was great & it lasted a couple meals. I also got the pork & century egg congee for breakfast the next day - also delicious with lots of pork & egg. I'm Cantonese/Toishanese & have been eating these dishes throughout my life - & these were great here. Highly recommend this place!
A must-visit if you've never been! It's the perfect spot for groups to share flavorful dishes at an affordable price.
I heard lot of good things from this place but unfortunately the average price are around 25$ & the rice is freaking 10$. This is not worth it. Me & my partner took 2 dishes & 2 rice bowl which ended up being 78$. The price isn't but the quantity is. So much better spot than this! the food was not even good
Best Chinese restaurant in Montreal China town. I really love their seafood dishes, so fresh so delicious! They also serve hot daily soup & tea for free. Will come back for sure!
Food is great & the restaurant offers a massive selection of dishes that range from very traditional to very north american.
We ordered fried oysters & they were huge & fried to perfection with the Hong Kong style batter, light & crunchy, very delicious. We also had the stuffed shrimp paste 3 ways with tofu, eggplant & peppers in a black bean sauce. The portion of these dishes were quite substantial & we couldn't finish either. The prices were very reasonable given the quality & serving size. We will definitely be back again when we're in the area. Great experience.
I shared Combo H with my friend, & if you don't eat that much, the portion is big enough to feed three people. I personally enjoyed the peanut butter dumplings a lot. The chicken fried rice & stir-fried vegetables were good as well, but the rest of the dishes were just okay. The batter on the General Tao chicken was too thick, & the shrimp had almost no flavor. The wonton soup tasted like it was on the level of frozen food. Overall, considering the price, it's a good spot for saving some money
Not recommended - there are ample other choices nearby. This is our genuine experience if you do want an honest review. First impressions were dreadful; we entered into a full restaurant (which is often a good sign) & headed a few steps to a vacant table by the window but within seconds got shouted at by a female who literally (throwing her arms around) ordered us to the back & shouted the table in the front was for six people. We should have really exited at that point. She was so rude. The three of us were seated at the back, literally squeezed in, adjacent to a table of 12 they had put together. The condition of the restaurant was poor, it's not clean, the floors ripped seats, tables, even the staff - needs a real deep clean - we used plenty of hand sanitiser. They even give you plastic plates to eat from - literally those you get at a children's party - unbelievable. The male staff members who took our order were fine, & the food arrived very quickly, literally minutes. The food itself was ok to disappointing due to it being very salty & greasy. Please avoid at all costs the aubergine dish - the size of the aubergine pieces were ridiculous, we couldn't eat it, you would literally need a knife & fork. The portions of the food are generous, & their pricing is on the cheaper side (which aligns with the lower quality dished to customers). The final interesting bit was the bill. Due to the extremely rude women earlier on, I click on "no" for the tip. The girl at the till then asked if I was therefore going to pay by card & leave the 20% separately. I didn't honestly understand what she meant & the rude women from earlier then came over to explain the tip must be paid as its for the staff. I had endured enough of her & this restaurant by this point & to avoid causing a drama on our first visit to canada i decided it was easier to pay the minimum tip & leave as soon as I could. Note that on paying the tip I didn't receive any thanks at all. There are so many excellent alternatives nearby, do avoid this, unless you want poor service, an unclean environment, children party plates, salty food & being ordered that you must pay a tip, without any thanks at the end.
The food was flavorful, but the service was not very good. Four dishes + One large bowl of rice were enough for five people. The prices were decent, averaging around 23$ per person.
Good option for good & cheap food, there are a lot of combos for 2 or more people to choose from, good if you want to try multiple dishes. Price is around 40 before taxes for a combo for 2. Not the best I had in the area but a nice place nonetheless.
Disappointed & would not recommend. Server spilled hot tea on my wife's phone while she was washing up, food was all served without rice, which wasn't served until we were finished eating. Server was too busy toasting drinks with another table to bother checking on us so water was never refilled. The cook is overworked, he was apparently responsible for cooking & serving all dishes, as well & handling final payment on the table. I didn't leave a tip, he was quite upset & snatched up the fortune cookies that were left on the table & stormed away. Most of the food was pretty good & I would have gladly explained why I didn't tip had I been asked why, instead I felt threatened for not leaving a tip.
Classic Chinese dishes served at fair prices. This is not five star dining, nor does it try to be. Just solid decent food. You're getting what you pay for. If you're expecting overly attentive service, or fancy plating, or an uncrowded restaurant, you might want go somewhere else.
One of the best place for authentic Cantonese cuisine. There steamed scallops are to die for. & also there softshell crab!!!! Every single dishes are delicious. Staffs are very friendly. & the taste is very constant. This is why we are the regulars. 😊 I highly recommend this place if you want some authentic Chinese cuisine.
I've eaten here several times. They prepare dishes quickly, & the food tastes authentic. I enjoyed the crab meat & fish soup & the veggies is not bad either. It's a convenient spot for groups, but it's a bit noisy & not suitable for formal conversations, so bear that in mind. Overall, I still like it if you wanna have Chinese food with friends & family.
This place is open late & the food is delicious & prices are very reasonable. If youre in a big group sharing dishes it's the best. The service is fast but at times a bit ... let's say, cold. It's often packed & quite loud, & the lights are bright white, not comfy. If you're looking for atmosphere, this is not the place, but for great late night eats, mmmmm yesss!
12/2023 update: Went back for their seafood dishes & boy did they meet my expectation! Amazing place for their Cantonese style seafood dish. Everything was amazing delish. From king crab to claims to lamb pot. Had an amazing food coma after my meal. Again, truly recommend to Asian seafood fanatics. ------ Very good Chinese restaurant with seafood goodies. Only downside is how small the place is.
Good was very good & what I perceived as authentic. We decided to enter to this restaurant bc it looked authentic & most of the clients looked Asian, which I took as a good sign.
We waited on the line to be seated. It felt like they were giving preference to others, supposedly they had reservation but the body language didn't felt like they did.
We were finally seated & then asked to move to a smaller table. Ok, then we moved & we looked at the menu, as a group we decided to get dishes we were familiar with & to get a dish that was unknown. Everything was very good. The spring rolls were amazing!
I would come back & would recommend, just do not expect a fine/nice dining experience, it is more like an authentic atmosphere.
