Review Summary

Keung Kee is widely regarded as a staple for authentic Cantonese cuisine in Montreal, praised for its generous portion sizes, fresh seafood, and consistent flavor profiles. Many diners appreciate the extensive menu featuring traditional favorites like beef chow fun, roasted meats, and various hot pot dishes, often noting that the restaurant offers excellent value for the price. While the establishment is frequently busy and maintains a casual, unpretentious atmosphere, experiences with service can be inconsistent, ranging from efficient and prompt to occasionally abrupt. Although some patrons express frustration regarding tipping expectations or variable service interactions, the majority of visitors continue to return for the reliable food quality and the nostalgic, old school dining experience that has made the restaurant a long standing local institution.

Delicious, authentic Chinese food - highly highly recommend! Visited twice in one week. Our favorites were pork collar stir fry, sweet & sour pork, steamed scallop & fried soft shell crab. Sadly they didn't have razor clams when we went. Lobster didn't have enough meat & gravy was a little too starchy/gloopy for my taste. Fish maw soup was basic but good. Really loved this place, full of elderly Cantonese speaking clientele. Just bring an empty stomach & no expectations for 3 star service ;)

One Saturday, I had lunch here & ordered a fried noodle dish that was about $18. When it was time to pay, the owner told me the total was $27. At the time, I didn't calculate the total with tax & tip, & I asked whether the tip had been included. He said no, so I generously gave an additional $5 tip (all in cash).

On my way home, I did the math & realized that the $27 had most likely already included all taxes & a tip. I was genuinely shocked that the owner appeared to have intentionally overcharged me & then accepted an additional tip after telling me that no tip had been included. I hope other customers will double-check their bills before paying.

This is an old-school style Cantonese restaurant. I ordered the clams with black bean sauce & the pea shoots with oyster mushrooms. The clams were okay; the veggies were good. The tea pot was great.

This restaurant deserves better rating. We were so glad we went despite the low ratings. If you want authentic Chinese food, order the dishes listed on the wall in Chinese only. The eggplant & tofu, pork belly, & beef chow fun were all amazing!

Beware, definitely avoid Keung Kee! Bad food & worse service. Waiters inattentive. The General Tao was extremely oily with way too much batter.

Worst part was paying, the manager watched the tip screen, asked'No tip?' Then kept insisting after we politely said no. When we refused again, they rudely shooed us out of the restaurant.
